  1. I have one in Oberlin, OH. That would be a nice ride for you.
  2. It actually takes about 10 minutes. Vacuum gauges or carbtune work very well.
  3. LOL...you guys are HARD. I took my beginners course in Dallas years ago and really enjoyed it. The instructor was indeed humorous and I enjoyed the jokes and etc. He was also very good and did a great job covering the material. Same thing with a defensive driving course that I took once. The humor made it more fun and helped to keep your attention on what was being said.
  4. Hey...I came out good on that deal. Great food and got to see my girlfriend.
  5. I'm in for two.
  6. Dingy, I typically try to do that but I don't always know if somebody doesn't tell me. This is mostly true of members who aren't as active.
  7. That's exactly where I ended up. Full circle. Years ago I started by drilling my stock mufflers. Then I built a baffle/plate for the end with holes that I could turn to match or block off the drilled holes. Wasn't that great. Then I went with a set of Samson's for a while. WAY too loud. Then I installed a set of Khromewerks, excellent quality and could be re-packed. Still got old after a while. Finally went back to stock a few years ago and am perfectly happy now. I went with the RSTD mufflers though. They are a direct bolt on with the only difference being that they have tips that can be turned different ways for a different look. I really like them and it is Sooooooo peaceful.
  8. I got a PM from Tomephil suggesting that I create a new award in honor of Gunboat. I think it's a great idea and would like your input on what it should take to earn it. Now there are two options. We already have the Exceptional Member award. I could simply rename that one in his honor. I could create an entirely new award. Then we would need to come up with some criteria regarding what is required to earn it. In my opinion, if we create a new one, it would need to be distinctively different than the Exceptional Member award. Maybe even limited to only a few recipients per year. This could be done through an annual nomination process and then voted on or whatever. These are just initial thoughts folks. Your opinions are encouraged.
  9. Well dang. I didn't think that you Michigan boys and girls could EVER be true Texans but I guess I was wrong. If Gunboat went through all of that for you....I have to concede the point. Well done Don.
  10. Hot soap and dishwashing detergent would probably get most of it off but I don't worry about it. I just drive conservatively for about 50 miles or so and have never had a problem. On your trike, it shouldn't be a concern at all.
  11. Sounds like you are having a great time. Wish I had known that you were going to Bar Harbour, I have a couple of whale watching passes here. If I could even find them.
  12. That is true for the Royal Star Venture. Trader I think was referring to the first gens and I believe that they were indeed VOX.
  13. Just so happens I adjusted the steering head bearings on Dave Wells bike two days ago. Just slide the windshield off and then there is one screw on the front of the speedo housing and two on the back. Remove those 3 and the speedo housing will just lift out of the way. Then the is a bracket around the steering head nut. Only two screws that hold it on and it is much easier to loosen the steering head nut if you remove that bracket first. To loosen that top nut you will need either a 27mm or a 1 1/16" combination wrench. Once you get that stuff out of the way, here is a link that shows how to adjust them. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=511
  14. Yep, that is how it should be.
  15. Great. Now about that antenna, many come installed on the wrong side. Some dealers don't seem to know. Now with you sitting on the bike, it SHOULD be on the left side. If you trace the antenna cable from the bottom of the antenna, you will see that it goes directly into the box under the trunk that holds the CB.
  16. That means your CB is getting a transmission and cutting out the music. Either turn the CB off or turn the squelch WAY up. I usually keep mine all the way up on 20 unless leading a group and the tail gunner is WAY back. Then I will turn it down a bit.
  17. Folks...this just knocked me for a loop. Those of you who never met Gunboat have no idea what a true gentleman he was. He was a friend to all and truly would, and did, go out of his way to help so many here. I'm just sitting here shaking my head in disbelief. Life is so precious and this is just another example of how important it is to do our best to make each and every day something special. Godspeed my friend and prayers going out for his family, loved ones, friends.
  18. The stock seat is vinyl. They offered an optional touring seat that was made by Corbin and it was leather.
  19. I don't think that link at VistaPrints is valid any longer. I was notified by another member a couple of weeks ago. I will be re-doing it and making it available again over the next few days.

  22. HEY....there are no warrants against me..........yet. The Cabela's in Columbus does not compare to the one in WV nor the one in MI. It is a much smaller store. Still, it's OK I think. Worth checking out if you just happen to be there or live in the area. Certainly not worth a long drive for people elsewhere.
  23. I stopped by Cabela's in Columbus, OH yesterday evening and saw a couple getting on a Midnight Venture. Stopped and talked to them for a few minutes. Very nice young couple that live in the Columbus area. They haven't owned the bike long but really love it so far. She is new to riding so still getting comfortable with it. I hope they stop by and visit us here.
  24. You need to go to that thread and send Big Tom a message. He handles those shirts.
  25. Are you talking about these? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41803
