  1. For the past several years, we have auctioned a trailer for the grand prize at the International. Maybe it's time to change that for a while but I want your feedback on the issue. I thought about doing a poll but decided to just let you make your suggestions because you may have some that I would not include in a poll. So what would you buy raffle tickets for? Trailer? Zumo GPS, an assortment of small prizes with GPS, Cameras, etc? We were actually trying to work a deal on a camper this year but it is just too expensive and would pretty much wipe out our reserve funds if enough tickets weren't sold.
  2. You need to take a long test ride. I can tell you that they are not for everybody. I took about a 20 minute test ride a few years ago and loved it. I really thought I wanted one. Then a couple of years ago I took one for a full day during the International Rally in NY. My wife and I put a couple hundred miles on it. I could not wait to get off that thing. After a few miles, my back and legs were killing me. My infatuation with it was over with. Now I am tall and have a long inseam. They are simply not built for tall riders. So, I came very close to buying one after that short test ride. Had I done so, it would have been one of those you see on Ebay with less than 2000 miles on it very quickly.
  3. Unfortunately, it wouldn't help much because the ads are deleted shortly after an item is sold. At least they should be. People should NOT use the "never expire" option when listing their item. Then when they mark it sold, it is automatically deleted in a few days.
  4. I ran into an issue at Walmart a few years ago. Needed tires for my company car. Didn't want to spend a lot because it was almost time to turn it in for a new one. I went to Walmart and they had about 6 different tires on display so I picked one out and told the guy those were the ones I wanted. He told me that they only had one tire that would fit my Dodge Caravan and they were about double the price. So I asked why he had all the tires on display if he didn't stock them. He said it was just to show an overview of what they MAY have. I asked how long it would take to order the ones I need and he told me that they really didn't do that. If he ordered them, he would have to wait until he was ready to place a general order and it would probably be a couple of months. Never tried to buy tires there again. The size for the RSV is certainly not common and I think very few people have found them in stock at their local dealers. I seem to remember that the most popular one, I think it was the Nexus, had been discontinued or something and people were having a hard time finding it. Glad I'm not a Darksider fan.
  5. I think you will be very lucky if you find anything locally. I do think that there are some bike tires that will last MUCH longer than that Metz did. If you are willing to try the Dunlop E3, it may surprise you. Not that I'm trying to talk you out of the darkside if that is what you want but just trying to save your vacation time.
  6. Lubed with engine oil. That is why it is important to make sure that whatever oil you choose to use does NOT have the energy conserving label on it. It can cause your clutch to slip.
  7. Got it added. Sorry for the delay. My screen on the computer decided to go out so I have been without a computer for a day or so. Anyway, I created it under the Motorcycle Experiences category. I can move it if you folks would rather it be elsewhere. Maybe better under the Rides and Rallies area?
  8. The Khromewerks is a very good hitch. If you want basically the same thing for less than half the price, contact Carbon_one on this site. He makes fantastic products.
  9. LOL...ok....creative but I think it should contain the word "CAMPING" so that people will have SOME clue as to what it is about.
  10. I had not seen this video before and to be honest, it brought tears to my eyes. For those of you who served in that hell hole, we owe you much more respect than you ever received. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=LemllfcAY8A&sns=em
  11. I think it was the Valvoline DOT 4. I'll have to find the can because I don't remember for sure. I know it was synthetic. I changed all the fluids when I put the SS lines and Flanders bars on but that has been a few years.
  12. What do you want to call it? Motorcycle Camping? VentureRider Campers? what?
  13. Yes, that's not a problem. I'll get it added sometime later this evening.
  14. Yea, but that 10.00 a quart oil that's in it has less than 500 miles on it.
  15. I just want to know how I ended up getting blamed for this. Just what I need, a wife mad at me. I have one of my own that I have no problem making mad.
  16. That is so close to me that I thought about bidding. I tell you though, there just isn't much there that's not damaged. Sad indeed.
  17. Very well done indeed. You done good my friend.
  18. There are two nuts to remove the seat. At the very front. One on the left and one on the right. Then it just slides forward and out of the tab on the rear. Battery is almost new. I replaced it Maintenance Day this year. Don't remember the brand but it is a glass mat type from Advanced Auto. Other thing to know. It has the speedo healer on it so the speedometer does read correctly. It also has the mic mutes so quickly toggling the "push to talk" switch turns the microphone on and off to reduce wind noise.
  19. I buy the oil at Advanced Auto. I generally get the filter there too and use the Purolator PL14610. Have also used the Walmart ST7317 but I don't know if they still make it.
  20. Just got an email that my Saddle Sore 1000 has been certified. Now I just have to get the paperwork in for the bunburner 1500. Dear Donald Nelson: You are receiving this e-mail because of your application for a ride certification. This note is to let you know that your ride has been approved and although your ride documents may take a few more weeks to arrive, your membership has also been approved and entered into the Iron Butt Association's member database. Welcome to the Iron Butt Association!
  21. I'm actually probably going to do that. Just got to get the passports renewed first.
  22. Can I bring my tent?
  23. The links in the tech library for the manuals is working again.
  24. They look good. I hope you checked the brackets very closely. They are known to crack at the top and fall off. Many have lost them because of that issue. I almost think it's a matter of WHEN it will happen...not IF it will happen. That is why I really recommend the Diamond R stainless brackets.
