  1. Well you will remember that I did the Saddlesore 1000 about 3 weeks ago down to Florida. Well this weekend, Rickardracing and I successfully completed the Bunburner 1500. Rick actually did a couple hundred miles more because he left Michigan about 3:00 Saturday morning and met me at my house around 6:15. So, we left my house around 6:30 Saturday morning and took 480 across to 77. We then took 77 all the way through OH, WV, VA, NC and SC. Out of Charleston, SC, we picked up I20W over to Atlanta. Got through Atlanta last night and then stopped at a hotel in Smyrna, GA. We got to the hotel around 10:30 pm and I got in bed about 11:00. Got up at 2:00 and were on the road by 3:00 and headed on home. Took 75 all the way to the 75/71 split in Cincinnati when Rick stayed on 75 toward Michigan and I took 71 through Columbus and then home. Total mileage for me was about 1560. Got home around 3:00 pm after stopping for a Sandwich in Mansfield. Bunburner 1500 means 1500 miles within 36 hours so it was a success. So I've now got just barely under 6,000 miles on the Road Glide since buying it about 7 weeks ago I think it was. Not too bad.
  2. I am going to get Eileen a boat. Looking for something with a cabin, head, etc. 24' to 27' long. Actually, she found one yesterday that she likes but I need to sell something first. OH..and my Harley site was touringhogs.com I didn't think I was going to try to start it up again but I am working on it. There are SOOOO many Harley sites though...I'm not sure it will ever take off once I get it ready.
  3. They are NOT rebuildable. I have an almost new one for sale in the classifieds. If you are interested in it, make me an offer.
  4. I know...I know.
  5. You could but it is really unnecessary. I would just take it off or leave it as is. It won't hurt anything being there.
  6. Nope, there is no Road Glide this year. The Ultra Plus has the exhaust port water cooled though.
  7. Yes, and that is something that I've thought about over the years and is the main reason that this has remained, for the most part, a Venture and Royal Star site. I don't mind what Big Tom is suggesting here and don't think he is suggesting that we change the focus of VentureRider.org
  8. Now that might be pushing it a bit.
  9. I'm OK with the plan to but just a small correction.....the Spyder is NOT Yamaha. Just to clarify...I'm not suggesting that because they are not a Yamaha that we shouldn't do this. Just correcting a statement. I don't care that they are not Yamaha's.
  10. You don't need the fancy wrench if you just want to try tightening it up a bit. Take a look at this thread in the tech library. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=511
  11. Not cheap but I can see where it could really come in handy.
  12. They do look like some kind of air deflector but I've never seen any like that. Baker's wings are plastic. Not sure about that mounting either.
  13. In my opinion, you shouldn't touch the fuel/air mixture unless you have the problem gas analyzers to do it. Unless it's already been messed with and it doesn't make any difference. Most folks sync the carbs at around 1,000 RPM. Some argue that it is better to sync them at higher RPMS but according to the manual and my personal experience, around 1,000 does just fine.
  14. The short answer is NO. There is no guaranteed fix. Swapping the clutch basket with an "I" version has been known to reduce it, move it to a different RPM range, or in rare cases, pretty much eliminate it completely. Results vary.
  15. That could be any windshield. Those are aftermarket vents and many of us have installed them in various shields.
  16. Heather, Thank you so much for your post. I know that you are going through a very difficult time and this had to be hard for you. Please know that Steve had a lot of friends here. I have met and ridden with him a couple of times and communicated with him often. He was not only a member here but a friend to many. He will not be forgotten. Don
  17. Here was my first one. My brother and I actually shared this first one. Not for long though. I bought my own shortly thereafter. This was a Honda S90. We shared it for a couple of months and then I bought a Harley 250 Sprint and the 90 became fully his. I think I was 14 at the time.
  18. Folks...Miles is gone for personal reasons. Please let it go.
  19. I've looked for years and not found anything. I even talked to a company about making us some but the prototype fee was $10,000.00. Just wasn't enough interest to pursue it.
  20. See this thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=80908
  21. OK...it IS a little pricey but that is really a nice product. Now my helmets have the dual shields with a clear outside shield and a flip down tinted sunshield on the inside. The entire helmet was cheaper than this shield but still....it IS cool.
  22. HEY....Harley has some nice rain gear but no tall sizes. I'm finding riding pants and jackets in tall sizes that have waterproof liners. Not sure if that is the same as a rain suit though. Some of them are sized to be worn over street clothes though. They are also expensive as compared to regular rain gear.
  23. I need some new rain gear. I have been using Frogg Toggs and they are OK but I want to step up to something a bit more substantial this time. The problem is, I can't seem to find anything with a long enough inseam. I find some tall sizes at some outdoor type stores but they don't have the heat shields on the legs to protect against hot exhausts and etc. Any of you know of anything?
  24. No, sorry but we do not. I highly recommend them though.
