Had the pleasure of meeting up with IronMike for dinner last night. He had a KuryAkyn trunk relocation kit for the Harley and was kind enough to give it to me in exchange for some future tech training on carb syncing and etc. Went had had some decent Mexican food in Akron, OH and talked mostly about bikes of course. Very nice guy. He is a great addition to our VentureRider family and I look forward to riding some with him in the near future.

Thanks for the warning...as I told you...Eileen is VERY sensitive to fumes. I can't even eat beans before a long ride. Will be interesting to hear how it holds up over the long haul. Sounds like it may be good stuff for some applications. I don't know if I want my leather turning a frosty white though.

Sorry, I just went back and looked and Easy Rider did mention West Virginia. I thought he meant year after next but see where he later offered to do it next year. I think though that we'll stick with the two other choices for next year and them maybe WV the following year.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Are they pop up ads? They are not coming from this site. I have no pop up ads here. Like said, you likely have some type of virus or malware.

OK...poll is posted. Please check the "Polls" forum and place your votes. Here is a link to it: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=80838

LOL...it IS. That is why I offered to start a poll. Now go back to your corner.

OK...looks like we have two firm possibilities for 2014. Eddyville, KY or somewhere in that area. Gunthersville, AL I've been to both of those areas and both are fantastic. So...should I start a poll or just make an executive decision. I actually lean more towards the Gunthersville idea because it sounds like the facility has everything we need. Rooms, restaurant, bars, etc.

Gotta watch moving it to the middle of August. We talked about that in Galena and had a number of folks there who work in the school system and may be back at work by then.

So, are you volunteering to head it up and get a committee together?

One thing that I've learned over the past few years is that, when possible, it is best to ahve a central lodge or hotel that offers dining, drinks, etc. It just seems to go much better and is more fun when as many as possible are staying at the same location. I know that some do like to camp and often the campground is not at the same location but close by is nice.

Just did my part. Good luck.

Folks, I'm hearing some great suggestions for locations but I've only heard ONE person step up and and say "I'll do it next year". That is Brake Pad. So.....how about it? We will make a decision very soon so if you are willing to step up to the plate, be the team leader and put together the people you need to help, then throw your hat in the ring.

FANTASTIC VIDEO. Really enjoyed watching it.

I plan to try it on the Harley.

Advice? Switching to V-Max cams

To answer your question though, I would recommend changing out the springs. If you end up installing a Dyna ignition to bump up the rev limiter, they will recommend the heavier duty springs if you want to set it higher than 7200 RPM. -
If the Kuraykyn relocator will fit my Road Glide, I would be interested. Send me a PM with price if you want to sell it. Also the part number and I'll look it up and make sure it will fit.

OK folks, here is my plan. I am going to order new handlebars on Monday. I will install them next weekend. Hopefully the following weekend, I plan to do a Saddlesore 1000. No other reason than because I just want to. I plan to leave Oberlin, OH sometime on Friday and ride to Florida. From my house to the Florida border is about 980 miles so I'll go a bit further into Florida and make sure that I cover the miles needed. I'll then get a few hours of rest and then head back home. Probably spend the night somewhere on the way back on Saturday and then get back home on Sunday. If any of you are interested in trying this with me then you are welcome to do so. Here's the thing though, we can ride together but if you break down, I want to be able to keep going and make this trip. If I break down, I expect you to do the same thing. I'm thinking that it may be best to do this alone but I'm open to suggestions.

The ride was excellent. The Road Glide handles like a dream. This may also be the first bike I've every owned that I will not change the seat on. It was exceptionally comfortable. I will be changing the handlebars next weekend however. Got that pain between the shoulders that I got on the RSV before installing the Flanders bars. Eileen was very comfortable but could use a bit more room. There are multiple kits out there for moving the trunk back so I'll be doing that also. Gas mileage was OK. I will get a better idea when I am not so heavily loaded but riding two up, pulling a heavily loaded trailer at 75 to 80 MPH on the Turnpike I got about 38 MPG. That is good enough for me. The negative? Do NOT get caught in a Chicago traffic jam on these things. I've heard some complaints here about the RSV being hot but I never had a problem with that. This bike gets HOT. I mean hot to the point where it becomes almost unbearable on your inner thighs. It is just fine as long as you are moving but WOW....you do NOT want to be sitting in traffic. I had been warned about that though so it did not come as a surprise but it was worse than I expected. I'm actually not crazy about the VOX intercom. Just can't seem to get it adjusted quite right. Set it too low and you have to speak to loud to activate it. Set it too high and you get a lot of wind noise activating it all the time. Have to play with it a bit more and see if I can find the sweet spot but at this point, I would prefer to have the mic-mutes setup. Overall, so far, I am not at all disappointed in the purchase.

Gary, There is already such a map. Where have you been? Members have to add their own pins but it's been up for a while now. Linked in the upper menu bar. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/vbgooglemapme.php

Stopped at a service plaza off I80 today. A guy parked beside me started talking and I learned that he is an engineer who works for Harley. Don't remember the department...PDQ or PQD or something like that. I assume product development something or another. Anyway, he told me to hold on to my Road Glide because this is the last year. I already new that though. He then went on to tell me that when it comes back that it will be water cooled. Not only will it be water cooled but all the 103 CU IN and 110 CU IN engines will be water cooled. He said that there will be small radiators hidden in the lowers. He didn't say whether it would be next year or the following year. He did say that the engine is already being tested by some police department in Arizona.

Eileen and I got home around 4:30 today. Great ride home. Left Galena late Friday morning and got caught in some TERRIBLE Chicago traffic along with some heavy rain. It was brutal. Only rode a couple hundred miles and checked into a hotel in Portage, IN for the night. Only about 300 miles to get home today and the weather was absolutely perfect. Really enjoyed the ride. Had a fantastic time In Galena. Those of you who didn't make it really missed a great rally. I can't thank the committee enough for the wonderful job that they did.
