Any of the above will work. The PROPER way though is to click on UserCP, scroll down to subscriptions, and there you go. That automates it all.

Time to replace Handgrips
Freebird replied to craigatcsi's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Dan, unless you have changed them, you don't have the Iso Grips. I replaced them long ago. What you have is Yamaha grips that were offered for the Road Star until Yamaha started discontinuing stuff. They are cut down to fit the RSV. I loved those grips. Very comfortable for me. -
Time to replace Handgrips

I'm not a fan of the Iso Grips either. Rick Butler bought a set and said that they made his fingers numb. I got them from him and installed them on my '99. I even adapted the bar end weights to work with them just in case there was some added vibration. Even with the bar weights, my fingers got number with them also. Not a fan at all. -
You are right about it being a good handling bike. It will really carve the curves. There are a lot of things I like about the Road Glide but we have to be honest, there is a major downside also. I've heard a few people here complain about the heat on the RSV. I can tell you for a fact, if you are sensitive at ALL to heat then you do NOT want a Harley or at least a Road Glide. They can be a bit brutal on a hot day and especially if you get caught in stop and go traffic. There are things you can do that will help but I'm not sure how much. I've removed the catalytic converter, done the Stage One air cleaner, did the tuning and etc. and it did help some but it is still HOT. The next step will be to install true duel ceramic coated headers which is also supposed to help a lot but I suspect when I am done, it will still be HOT. My wife says that the bike is more comfortable for her than the RSV was. EXCEPT for the heat. Her right foot especially gets roasted pretty good. Hopefully the true duels will help in that regard. Compared to the Road Glide, the RSV is like sitting on an air conditioner.

I'm sure you will see an Ultra. They have already come out with the CVO model but at $40,000.00, I'll have to pass. http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Motorcycles/cvo-road-glide-ultra.html

I understand that. Heck...the alphabet designations confuse me too. I can recognize most of them by their generic names though.
-
LOL...I wasn't trying to sell you one. Not trying to sell anybody one. A question was asked and I tried to answer it.
-
OH...I KNEW that most rode Harleys. I just didn't know that so many of them ride Road Glides specifically.
-
The ONLY real difference between the street glide and the road glide is batwing fork mounted fairing vs. frame mounted fixed fairing. The ONLY real difference between the Ultra Glide and the Road Glide is batwing fork mounted fairing vs. frame mounted fixed fairing. There is a Road Glide and a Road Glide Ultra. It is the Road Glide that is the same as the Street Glide except for the fairing. The Road Glide Ultra is what I have and the difference is the tour pack and the front fairing lowers and some accessories such as rider/passenger intercom and etc. There are actually a lot of differences between the softail and the Road King. Too many to list here but there are even slight differences in the engines, suspension is a big difference of course, gas tank size, seat height....many differences.

Not discontinued. There was not a 2014 model. They just came out with a slightly revamped 2015 model.

Not a dumb question at all. Heck, I couldn't remember so had to try it to find out. The answer is yes though. They can read the thread but just can't reply.

Very nice. That would be one of my top choices. It would be hard for me to choose between the Camaro and the Challenger.

Or...at the top of the first post in a thread, you can click on "Thread Tools" and then select "Email this Page".

I laughed like crazy and thought it was well told. I don't believe it though or at least think it was highly exaggerated. Example....if he was sitting in his car and watching from any distance, how could he have possibly known that it was a NIV version of the bible. Sometimes TOO much detail can ruin a good story.

Just moved it for you.

I don't think you see that as often as you once did. I think that Ebay started charging for the total, item plus shipping, when calculating final value fees to put an end to that nonsense.

my 96 rs rides to rough for my bad back
Freebird replied to worm's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well, if you are still determined to buy a used shock, you might check with Pinwall to see if they have one. They are a great source of such things. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=pinwall%20cycle%20parts&clk_rvr_id=691170635909&adpos=1t1&MT_ID=70&crlp=37073810073_2416792&device=c&geo_id=10232&keyword=pinwall+cycle+parts&crdt=0 -
Yes they can. At this time. I may change that due to this type of problem. It hasn't happened often though.

I saw the post in the watering hole but was waiting to see if anybody else replies. I personally think that installing a worn out shock is dangerous. It is not a matter of it just compressing easier but it usually means that the rebound dampening is shot and that can cause a pogoing effect that can be a very dangerous handling situation. I understand what you are saying but I think you are going about it entirely wrong. -
If you got a private message from some sorry spammer, rest assured he has been banned. If you got the message and it is now gone, that is why. The username was tramxenre.

Are you sure they were Street Glides? The Road Glides these guys were riding were not Ultras so no trunks. Just bags. They look almost exactly like Street Glides except with the frame mounted Glide fairing.

OK..it wasn't really a "meeting"...more that we just crossed paths. On our ride from Ohio to Hilton Head Island last week, Eileen and I stopped to get gas somewhere in North Carolina. It was around lunch time and the station had a Subway sandwich shop inside so we were sitting there having a sandwich and cooling off a bit when 8 motorcycles pulled in. The riders gassed up the bikes and then came inside for something to drink. Turns out that 6 of them were Hell's Angels and 2 were wearing the Misguided colors. No issues at all. They stood near the door of the station and just talked and laughed and other than wearing the colors, seemed like normal folks out for a ride. What surprised me though was when I looked out at their bikes and saw that 7 out of the 8 were riding black Harley Road Glides. WOW....is my bike of choice also the bike of choice of the 1% clubs? Not sure how I felt about that.

No problem. Will see what Saturday brings but we may ride over and see you there. Sounds like fun.

Starting this over because I screwed up and didn't set it correctly to allow more than one selection. You can select more than one brand now. Please do not read anything into this poll. It is NOT because any changes to the VentureRider site are being considered. I'm just curious about what bikes other than the Yamaha Venture or Royal Star that you may own. I know that some of you own several Ventures, I'm not trying to find out how many Ventures you own but what OTHER brands you might own. So please just answer once for each brand that you own. I also know that I am not listing all brands. I know that some of you may own a Ural or a Moto Guzzi or whatever but I'm just wondering about the major brands.

RSV Miles per Gallon, Speeds, and Odometer Errors
Freebird replied to V7Goose's topic in Watering Hole
I had to look and see what the heck you were taking about. WOW...I posted that in 2008. I have to say that I'm not 100% sure that Avon has corrected the issue with the cracking sidewalls. Mine did crack and also from what I've read, the Avon on the rear of the bike now owner by Yammer Dan, has also cracked. Based upon the cracking problem, I would likely not buy Avon again until I have seen PROOF that the issue is resolved.
