  1. OH...I KNEW that most rode Harleys. I just didn't know that so many of them ride Road Glides specifically.
  2. The ONLY real difference between the street glide and the road glide is batwing fork mounted fairing vs. frame mounted fixed fairing. The ONLY real difference between the Ultra Glide and the Road Glide is batwing fork mounted fairing vs. frame mounted fixed fairing. There is a Road Glide and a Road Glide Ultra. It is the Road Glide that is the same as the Street Glide except for the fairing. The Road Glide Ultra is what I have and the difference is the tour pack and the front fairing lowers and some accessories such as rider/passenger intercom and etc. There are actually a lot of differences between the softail and the Road King. Too many to list here but there are even slight differences in the engines, suspension is a big difference of course, gas tank size, seat height....many differences.
  3. Not discontinued. There was not a 2014 model. They just came out with a slightly revamped 2015 model.
  4. Not a dumb question at all. Heck, I couldn't remember so had to try it to find out. The answer is yes though. They can read the thread but just can't reply.
  5. Very nice. That would be one of my top choices. It would be hard for me to choose between the Camaro and the Challenger.
  6. Or...at the top of the first post in a thread, you can click on "Thread Tools" and then select "Email this Page".
  7. I laughed like crazy and thought it was well told. I don't believe it though or at least think it was highly exaggerated. Example....if he was sitting in his car and watching from any distance, how could he have possibly known that it was a NIV version of the bible. Sometimes TOO much detail can ruin a good story.
  8. Just moved it for you.
  9. I don't think you see that as often as you once did. I think that Ebay started charging for the total, item plus shipping, when calculating final value fees to put an end to that nonsense.
  10. Well, if you are still determined to buy a used shock, you might check with Pinwall to see if they have one. They are a great source of such things. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=pinwall%20cycle%20parts&clk_rvr_id=691170635909&adpos=1t1&MT_ID=70&crlp=37073810073_2416792&device=c&geo_id=10232&keyword=pinwall+cycle+parts&crdt=0
  11. Yes they can. At this time. I may change that due to this type of problem. It hasn't happened often though.
  12. I saw the post in the watering hole but was waiting to see if anybody else replies. I personally think that installing a worn out shock is dangerous. It is not a matter of it just compressing easier but it usually means that the rebound dampening is shot and that can cause a pogoing effect that can be a very dangerous handling situation. I understand what you are saying but I think you are going about it entirely wrong.
  13. If you got a private message from some sorry spammer, rest assured he has been banned. If you got the message and it is now gone, that is why. The username was tramxenre.
  14. Are you sure they were Street Glides? The Road Glides these guys were riding were not Ultras so no trunks. Just bags. They look almost exactly like Street Glides except with the frame mounted Glide fairing.
  15. OK..it wasn't really a "meeting"...more that we just crossed paths. On our ride from Ohio to Hilton Head Island last week, Eileen and I stopped to get gas somewhere in North Carolina. It was around lunch time and the station had a Subway sandwich shop inside so we were sitting there having a sandwich and cooling off a bit when 8 motorcycles pulled in. The riders gassed up the bikes and then came inside for something to drink. Turns out that 6 of them were Hell's Angels and 2 were wearing the Misguided colors. No issues at all. They stood near the door of the station and just talked and laughed and other than wearing the colors, seemed like normal folks out for a ride. What surprised me though was when I looked out at their bikes and saw that 7 out of the 8 were riding black Harley Road Glides. WOW....is my bike of choice also the bike of choice of the 1% clubs? Not sure how I felt about that.
  16. No problem. Will see what Saturday brings but we may ride over and see you there. Sounds like fun.
  17. Starting this over because I screwed up and didn't set it correctly to allow more than one selection. You can select more than one brand now. Please do not read anything into this poll. It is NOT because any changes to the VentureRider site are being considered. I'm just curious about what bikes other than the Yamaha Venture or Royal Star that you may own. I know that some of you own several Ventures, I'm not trying to find out how many Ventures you own but what OTHER brands you might own. So please just answer once for each brand that you own. I also know that I am not listing all brands. I know that some of you may own a Ural or a Moto Guzzi or whatever but I'm just wondering about the major brands.
  18. I had to look and see what the heck you were taking about. WOW...I posted that in 2008. I have to say that I'm not 100% sure that Avon has corrected the issue with the cracking sidewalls. Mine did crack and also from what I've read, the Avon on the rear of the bike now owner by Yammer Dan, has also cracked. Based upon the cracking problem, I would likely not buy Avon again until I have seen PROOF that the issue is resolved.
  19. Dave, Give this some thought. You and Robin come by the house. We will ride over there with you. Have dinner or whatever and then come back to the house. You can stay in the cottage and go back home on Sunday if you want to.
  20. FANTASTIC. That is my very favorite of all the first gens and same as my first Venture. I often wish I had kept that one just to have.
  21. You are 100% correct of course. I TOLD you it had been a LONG time. Forget everything I said.
  22. Folks, I was an industrial electrician for more than 20 years. I worked with all types of loads and voltages from 12VDC control circuits to 7160 Volt AC motors and everything in between. Inductive loads and resistive loads. Now it's been more than 20 years since I worked as an electrician and I readily admit that I have forgotten a lot of stuff but I simply don't agree that increasing resistance will not increase amps. Of COURSE it will. I completely understand OHMS law but what is being left out here is that the source of power will strive to supply the stated voltage and therefore drive the amps higher. Take a simple light bulb as an example. A 100 watt light bulb and a 40 watt light bulb both have 120 volts supplied to them. The only difference is the resistive element of the bulb. The 100 watt bulb will draw more amps because it has a higher resistant element. Same thing with a standard electric strip heater. A 10,000 watt heater draws more amps than a 5000 watt heater simply because it has higher resistant coils. Both have 120 volts supplied to them but the increased resistance causes the 10,000 watt heater to draw more amps. So if you have a loose connection or anything else that increase resistance, the power source will adjust to continue providing 120 volts to whatever it is so as the resistance increases, so will the amperage. It is not in any way violating OHMS law. OHMS law still applies but as the resistance increases and the power adjusts to continue supplying the stated voltage, of course the amperage is going to increase. So yes, increased resistance usually WILL result in higher amperage unless the power supply is unable to provide the specified voltage.
  23. I hope it turns out to be a very successful endeavor for you. I'll be sure to "LIKE" your page.
  24. WOW....I had no idea. Eileen and I actually stopped at Tilley's HD in Statesville on the way home from Hilton Head today. There was no indication of any kind of this news. Really sorry to hear it.
  25. We had a great time with the two of you. Got away about 7:00 this morning and rode approximately 400 miles to Beckley, WV. We are settled in here for the night and then 300 and some odd miles home tomorrow. Humidity at Hilton Head when we left this morning was 100%. Other than that, we've had great weather.
