OK...I'm not trying to fuss at you but there is a better way to bookmark threads that you want to save until later. If you click on "Thread Tools" above the first post, then click "Subscribe", it will save the thread in your profile. Then just go to your UserCP and click on "Subscribed Threads" and it will be listed. Hope this helps.

Are you new here?
-
I have used it for years. Everybody seems to use it differently. I use a can to a full tank of gas before storing it for the winter. Then I use another can to a full tank of gas around mid riding season. That's all. Two cans a year.

The old Blueberry patch has changed forever, biking in the blue...
Freebird replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
I enjoyed that. BUT....were there still blueberries? -
My guess is the Slingshot. I'm sticking to it.

Look at the blue header at the top of the posts and you'll see the dates they were posted. This is from 2008.

That is true. You said you have a donor motor. Does it have a bad stator also?
-
If your donor motor is also an 83 or an 83 - mid 85, it will eventually lose 2nd gear as well. You don't want to just swap parts or you will be doing it again. Here is an article that gives you an overview of what you are looking at. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=508 You will need to replace the same parts regardless of which transmission you use.

You say gasket KIT and there are a lot of gaskets. If you truly want the entire kit, here is a listing on Ebay that might help. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Complete-Engine-Gasket-Kit-Yamaha-V-Max-1200-Venture-Head-Set-Kit-Motor-Rebuild-/400527521403?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d414cf67b&vxp=mtr I'm sure you don't need them all though. There are probably some first gen riders here who can chime in and tell you where to buy individual gaskets. For the record, we call the 1983 - 1993 Venture "First Gen" and the '99 and newer "Second Gen".
-
You say you are looking for a gasket kit. What kind of gasket kit? Are you talking about the carbs?

Try this thread for a little help with the charging system. If that doesn't answer your question, you can find a lot of other related threads by clicking on "Search" in the upper menu bar and then at the bottom of the drop down menu, use the "Google" search and select the "venture rider" radio button. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=37884

I tell you, I'm not sure that you are coming across the way that you may mean to. Then again, maybe you are. I'm not sure. I know that you have been a member here for what...a day...and you are saying things like "I paid for a membership so I expect......" The people here are fantastic and in fairly short order many people become great friends. They go out of their way to help one another NOT because somebody paid 12.00 but because they like being there when somebody is in need. You seem way too demanding for somebody who just joined, has given nobody a chance to get to know you at all and immediately seem to think that you are entitled to immediate attention. Most people at least start off by offering to be the one that travels to where the help is or even meet somebody half way. If you feel that you have paid for somebody to drop what they are doing and immediately head to your house to work on your bike, you really have the wrong idea. If that is the case, just let me know and I'll refund your membership fees and remove your profile.

Venture advice needed.
Freebird replied to fredrikrosen's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The 1200, actually 1983 - mid 1985 had problems with the transmission. Most if not all will lose 2nd gear eventually. Expensive fix unless you are inclined to pull the engine, split the case and do it yourself. I would go with an '86 or later model. -
I may have made a mistake in showing my wife the videos of the Polaris Slingshot. She wants one NOW. In fact, she made some calls last week to try and schedule a test ride. I got a bit of a reprieve because the dealers that she called said that they would not have one until sometime in October. Here is the thing though. I will NOT buy one at this time. I think it would be a blast to ride or drive or whatever you would call it and I'm not too worried about it being a first year production model. The reason that I will not buy one right now is because I just KNOW...there is not a doubt in my mind...that in a few months there will be a touring model complete with side bags, trunk, hitch etc. The Spyder didn't bring out their touring model right off either and I'm sure that Polaris will be introducing one soon and I have no doubt that it is already, at the very least, in the design stage. So, as hard as it is to tell Eileen NO. We will hold off. Maybe someday but not quiet yet.

I never have and have never had a problem with it coming lose. Torque on that nut is 110 ft. lbs. if I remember correctly.

I honestly don't know if that is high or not. Remember guys, he is in Sweden. I have no idea about the prices of used bikes there but would imagine that the Venture isn't that common. -
That is simply awesome. My huge thanks to Lewis and Charlene and to all who donate.

Anyone else having this problem getting onto the site here?
Freebird replied to Eck's topic in Watering Hole
Should be OK now. Our chat host upgraded our server last night and say that it should be fixed now. -
UN-safe chrome!
Freebird replied to ACE50's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Some folks have a problem with the glare and some don't. I think it depends upon the height of the rider....maybe more than the height but the actual length of the torso. It changes the angle for each rider. I never had a problem with reflections but some do. -

I posted in the other thread. I think it is related to the chat room. Chat room is hosted on a different server. They seem to be having an issue and I have contacted them. At the bottom of the forum page is a block that shows who is in chat. If the server is screwing up, it waits on that information to load before loading the rest of the page. I may remove that block if they don't get it straightened out soon. -
Folks, I'm not 100% sure yet but I think it has something to do with the chat room. The chat room is hosted on a separate server and they seem to be having some issues. It affects the loading of the forum due to the little box at the bottom of the main forum page that shows who and how many are in the chat room. The forum tries to load but then waits on that information from the chat server. It appears that they have it working now but if it keeps happening I may end up having to remove that box and you'll just have to go to chat to find out who is there. During those times though, the chat room actually won't load either.

whats the difference
Freebird replied to hell yea's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
No, you cannot do it easy. It can be done but it's NOT really easy. It requires a specially machined intake to swap to the larger carbs.
