  1. OK...it is hard to add requested features because features requested by some members are not necessarily desired by other members. This is one that I thought would be fairly well accepted. If it is abused though, I can see where it would not be well liked. It really should be used only when there is something that you REALLY feel that the tagged member would be interested in or could provide some valuable input. For example, if somebody asks about a lift adapter, it would be very helpful to tag Carbon_One in the response to that he would be notified and then able to add his input. There are many times when such tagging could be helpful. For that reason, I thought that the minimal version of this modification would be adequate. Apparently I was wrong as a couple of people have already complained about it. Therefore, I have spent the money to purchase a "PRO" version of this modification. The "PRO" version is now installed and that means that each of you has the option of choosing which, if any, notifications that you want to receive. To set your options, go to "settings" at the upper right of the page. Scroll down until you see "User Tagging" in the left menu. It is near the bottom. There you can set it up the way that you want to.
  2. I don't think I want to set up music sharing for a couple of reasons. First of all, you get into royalty and copyright law problems. Secondly, the bandwidth use could end up killing us.
  3. Absolutely. No problem.
  4. You should only get them if somebody goes to the trouble of using the @ sign if they mention you. I don't THINK it will automatically send you an email if you are just quoted. This should not be abused. It should only be used if somebody REALLY wants you to see a message that they feel your input would be helpful towards.
  5. OK....I am trying a customization that will allow you to tag another user in a post. This serves two purposes. first of all, it sends the mentioned member a message that he was mentioned and also it provides a link to that users profile from the post. I don't know how well this will work or if any of you will like it. It was requested by @eusa1 so I am using his name as an example here. This should link to his profile and send him a message that he was mentioned. Notice that if you want the user tagged, you have to precede the username with the @ sign. I understand that it works like Twitter but as I've never used Twitter in my entire life, I have no idea.
  6. OK....I have also added a "widget" to the home page. The home page is actually the "Articles" tab. Or: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/content/ "Widgets" are the various blocks. In the left column, bottom block, is "Members Registered the Past Week". It shows all visitors who registered over the past week sort by the day that they registered. One thing I should note. It happens rarely but sometimes we have a new registration and I almost immediately ban them because I realize that they are a spammer. Sometimes I catch them quickly and sometimes it's after their first post but I try to get them quickly. When I ban somebody, I don't remove them completely because that would allow them to register again. I just add them to a "BANNED" group. That means that they will still show up on the new members lists. An example right now is a person who registered under the user name DirectTV. WOW...that's pretty darn creative huh? The person was banned but you will still see their name on the list.
  7. OK...I have added a box at the bottom of the forum home page. It says "Users who have registered today". It is a rolling 24 hour format so unless you look every day, you will miss some. I may work on a better solution that will show maybe the latest "X" number of members or something like that but for now, this is the quick and easy way.
  8. You can do that right from the new members welcome thread. OK...just looked and it doesn't link to their profile. I'll see what I can come up with.
  9. You can do that right from the new members welcome thread.
  10. Do you have PayPal? If so, just place your order. Send me a PM and tell me what you want and the address. After I ship them, I will let you know the actual shipping cost.
  11. I will do as told. I almost cancelled the stress test earlier today. After I read your message about coming to help Eileen, I figured that was all the stress test I needed. Seriously, I think that all the tests are done....unless they come up with some more. Had a heart echocardiogram yesterday, abdominal aorta echo this morning, stress test this afternoon. Now just have to wait on the results. I'm honestly not very concerned as I have known for years that I am fairly bullet proof. Unless they call and tell me otherwise, I will be on the road tomorrow for a sign show in Detroit.
  12. Thanks for catching that. I have edited the post to delete his email.
  13. His name is Brian and he is a legit member here. He owns the only Venture in Israel and I've exchanged a number of emails with him. Seems like a great guy. I don't think you are getting spammed. His username is Brian Aber and he is a supporting member and listed on the Members List.
  14. Pete, it's been my experience that it's seldom the buttons that cause these issues on the RSV. It can often be corrected by pulling the front of the fairing and cleaning and reseating the 5 cables. If that doesn't work, it seems to most often be a problem with the unit itself.
  15. Looks like I'll be busy the next few days with all those wonderful tests. I have an an angiogram tomorrow along with a couple other things. Then on Wednesday I have a stress test. I had hope to get all of it done today because I have some meetings in Detroit that I needed to be at. I've got a small sign show in Detroit on Thursday and Friday but luckily it doesn't start until 4:00 on Thursday so I should get to it with no problem. Other than feeling a bit weak, I'm fine and need to get back on the road.
  16. It was most likely caused by the same thing that caused some issues a week or so ago. When I made some changes to the PM system and it screwed up some links and etc. Several people couldn't get to any thread. They would click on a thread or a tab and it would take them back to the home page. The fix, after I undid the change, was that people had to clear their cache and history. The fact that it's working on your computer and not at home is a clear indication to me that you need to clear the browser cache and history at home.
  17. Come on folks. Only 50 people signed up? If you haven't put your name on the calendar yet, please do so. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=437&day=2015-5-30&c=1
  18. They are the same speakers as the front.
  19. I'll let others answer about packing material but it is readily available from Dennis Kirk and many other places and not that expensive. Syncing the carbs should be done yearly or so but changing the mufflers should have absolutely no affect on them.
  20. Thanks for all the well wishes but I'll be fine. I'll get the tests done to rule out any problems. Just to clarify, I wasn't shoveling snow. I was on my old John Deere lawn tractor with the snow blower. Wasn't over exerting myself and wasn't over heated at all. Was actually quiet relaxed. Old tractor was running good. Now blower was working great...no plugging up or anything. It was going very well. Was dressed warm and very comfortable. I already do much of what some of you have suggested. I've taken an 81mg Aspirin for several years. I take 1000 mg of vitamin D every day along with 1200 mg of fish oil and a multivitamin. Very good about taking them and never miss a day. My blood pressure is good and I'm on no medication for it. Fairly healthy for somebody who will turn 60 early next month. Very little medication and nothing related to heart problems. At least not until now. They did put me on something for now but I don't have the bottle in from of me so not sure what it is. I know it is for Angina and they wanted me to take it until I have the other tests done. The cardiologist thinks that I may have some blockage. At any rate, I'm feeling OK now. Will get the other tests done and then go from there.
  21. I was out of town until getting home around 2:00 yesterday. Driveway was in desperate need of snow removal so I got on the old John Deere and got busy. Was almost done but had to go in the house to use the restroom. Got finished and was putting my coat on to go back out and finish and got really dizzy and almost passed out. Sat down on a stool at the kitchen bar and got worse so got in my recliner. Stayed there for a few minutes and thought I was feeling good enough to finish up. Made it about half way across the room and almost passed out again. Got back in my recliner and the chest pains started. I figured they would stop in a couple of minutes but 15 minutes later and no relief. Made the mistake of yelling for Eileen who was upstairs. She came down and helped me get to the bed. Of course I would have been fine but NOOOOOOO....she wouldn't let it go. Next thing I knew, I could hear her talking to somebody on the phone and then she came in and told me that I was not to move. Not to try getting up...nothing. The person that she talked to at the Cleveland Clinic had called an ambulance and it was on the way........ So....the ambulance shows up and I'm off to the hospital with IVs, hear monitors, all kind of crap hooked to me. Enjoyed a few hours in the emergency room and then a cat scan and some blood work. One of the tests had showed positive for a clot but they said that the test often returned a false positive. Cat scan did not show anything. Heartbeat was a bit fast but otherwise OK. Still, they insisted on admitting me and monitoring my heart. Spent all day today in the hospital. They feel that I have some blockage and wanted to schedule me for stress tests and etc. I told them that was all well and good but that I wasn't staying in the hospital until next week when they want to do it. I suggested to them that they could remove the IVs and etc. or that I could but either way, I was going home. The cardiologist agreed that there was no reason for me to stay and signed my release papers. So...I'm home now and am not especially concerned about any of this. I'm sure it will all be fine. Will follow up though and get the stress tests and etc. done. Needless to say, I've been a bit preoccupied over the past day and got behind on my email. Just went through more than 300 emails and think I answered all that I needed to. If I missed something from you, let me know. It's all good my friends.
  22. Seems to be working from here. Maybe it was just down for a while when you tried it.
  23. Just adding a message saying it is sold will not do it. You have to click on product options and select "sold it". Then it will be marked SOLD in red.

    Well,,,,

I agree that they are fun to ride. I rode one for most of a day when we had the International in New York and Pioneer hosted us. They gave me the touring model to go on one of our day rides. Eileen loved it and I truly wanted to. I can tell you though, they are NOT made for tall riders. I was absolutely miserable by the time we got back and in fact, I finally let Eileen drive and I just sat on the back and tried to relax. I had a salesman tell me straight up before I ever rode one that I would probably not like it. He said that they got a lot of complaints from tall riders and that Can Am was aware of it and were supposed to be working on something. That was several years ago though and as far as I know, it's the same now.
  25. Hey....I remember that day. It was even at my house.
