  1. It's fine if you just show up. I like to get a close estimate of how many are coming but there are always a few that don't make it and a few that end up there after not thinking they could so it pretty much evens out.
  2. Actually, a LOT of work got done. It's amazing how much can get done when people jump in and help one another.
  3. You should get an email. I know that most do. Is your email updated and have you looked to make sure they are not going to a spam folder?
  4. I've seen many of them with those hairline cracks and seen them last for many years that way. They are just surface cracks and I think there is even a steel liner inside. I wouldn't worry about them.
  5. Yes Eddie, that seems like a different lifetime but I remember that. That was Jim that did the cooking. He rode a silver '99 with almost every piece of chrome that Yamaha made for them. Probably more than yours at the time. I think that was before you became the "Shiny One". I don't see Bob much any more but I think he is doing fine.
  6. This is a test Yes, it seems that if you change the font and then add a smilie, that is what causes the problem.
  7. Gary, It looks like yours has something to do with a font change that you tried to make. That code has nothing to do with a smiley.
  8. I don't do it exactly that way. I just stop where I want the smiley to be and click on the smiley. I don't go back and forth.
  9. Some of you have reported that when you insert a smilie, it also inserts the code unless you delete that code first. I'm trying to figure out what might be causing that so if this is something that is happening to you, please tell me how you are inserting smilies, what browser you are using and etc.
  10. I intended to state in the first post but forgot. As far as I can tell, it was NOT a member here. We have no username and the real name nor the email show up in the members list. Now some folks use different emails for PayPal than is used when they registered here but I can find no trace of him in the members list present or past.
  11. I kind of agree with Cowpuc. I think it is in the best interest of our members to let anybody who wishes to look see the ads. That being said, I do have the option of letting each member vendor decide whether or not they want their ads to be viewable by only supporting members, registered members, etc. So I will leave it at that. The main ads will remain as they are. The items you post are viewable by the public. Just use due diligence in any dealings unless you know who they are. One thing you can do is if somebody contacts you, simply ask if they are a member and if so, what is their member name. For our member vendors. The same thing goes unless you contact me and tell me that you want your items hidden from the public. Just let me know if you want them viewable by only supporting members, registered users, expired members.....or any mix thereof. It is not possible to do this on a per ad basis.
  12. I think that the largest was indeed one of my maintenance days. There was one year when we had somewhere around 280 people.
  13. In my opinion, and I may be wrong, it is not sealing. Probably a warped head. If it doesn't seal properly, hot gasses or water will escape and burn the paper out quickly.
  14. The classifieds are now setup so that only a member can click the "buy now" button to buy an item but it is open to anybody being able to "contact seller" if they are interested in something. I did it that way on purpose as to not restrict the seller from the possibility of selling their item even if the buyer is not a member here. There was a recent incident where one of our member vendors sold an item and didn't get full payment. It was an issue where the item was being shipped to Canada and he normally has them pay for the item and then sends them an invoice for the actual shipping cost once he knows what it is. This is stated clearly before the item is shipped. It has never been an issue but this time, the buyer doesn't respond to multiple requests to pay the shipping charges. Invoices and emails are just ignored. So my question is this. Do you want me to restrict viewing of the classifieds to members only? It would ensure that you at least have a member name for the buyer but it could also prevent more people from seeing and possibly purchasing your item. This could also be done "per category". In other words, the bikes for sale (for example) could be viewable by anybody while the "member vendor" ads could be viewable only by members. It's your call but I think worthy of some discussion. At the very least, you should be aware of the fact that you need to do your due diligence when selling something. Not everybody uses the "buy now" button and if they do, it will be a member here. If somebody contacts you through the "contact seller" link though. You need to be a bit more cautious in dealing with them.
  15. Will we need that Black Death to wash down the fermented shark?
  16. I looked at them on the Indian site. You can get them with a black seat so that's not an issue. What I want to know is WHERE you saw one for $19,000.00? The price at the Indian site says starting at $26,999 plus setup and freight.
  17. I love the look of that engine.
  18. I've never said that the Harley is better than the RSV and am still not saying that. It's different and there are pros and cons to both. I've said it before, if you are sensitive to the heat, you do NOT want a Harley. I've done about all I can to reduce the heat on mine and it's still HOT. That is the biggest negative for me. In my opinion though, price is not the issue. The Road Glide and the Electra Glide are cheaper than the Goldwing, Vision, Indian and some other bikes. In some ways, the V-Twin technology is behind the times when compared to some of those but it's not because Harley is not capable of building something different, it is because they are listening to their customers and giving them what they want. I think that the VRod engine was a perfect start to a fantastic platform for a touring engine but the Harley customers didn't exactly embrace it. In other ways though, Harley has made many improvements over the years. ABS brakes, passive alarm system, Brembo brakes, electronic throttle control, new design forged and welded frames and much more. The RSV is a fantastic bike in it's own right. Even after 15 years of absolutely no improvements, it still holds it's own against most. That V4 engine is just a fantastic bullet proof design. Some disagree but I always felt that for a large and heavy touring bike, it handles fine. Comfort is fantastic and heat, at least for me, was never an issue. The last year that it was made though, the suggested retail was only $2,000.00 less than the Harley Road Glide or Electra Glide. I have to wonder what the price difference would have been had Yamaha chosen to update a few things. ABS, Fuel Injection, Alarm system, etc. Better yet, stick that 1700cc VMax engine in it? WOW...now THAT would be a fantastic improvement. These are things that many here have discussed and wished for over the past few years and I KNOW that Yamaha sees these wishes. Maybe they will do it yet. Motiv talked to some Yamaha people at the bike show in Cleveland a few weeks ago and they told him that there would not be a new touring bike. They said that Yamaha was ceding that market to the companies who were already dominating that segment. Honda, Harley, etc. I personally don't truly believe that as I know from past experiences that Yamaha keeps such things very close and I doubt that some guy at the motorcycle show is privy to what they might be planning. If they truly DO give up on the touring market, that would be a shame because we all know that they have what it takes to be very competitive. If they DO come out with a new tourer, what will it be? Who knows. If they listen to those of us here who have stated what we want then they would still be confused. I think that we are pretty divided between those, like me, who prefer the styling and ergonomics of the RSV and those of you who prefer the sport touring style of the first gen Venture. Now Harley addressed that by giving their riders a choice. How many of you know that the fixed fairing Road Glide is the same bike as the handle bar mounted fairing Electra glide from the fairing back? It's just a matter of which fairing style you prefer. At any rate, I truly hope that Yamaha listens to and answers the call. They have a lot of loyal riders waiting.
  19. You have nothing to apologize for. I thought it was hilarious. It just started another discussion also though. I don't think that anybody is upset over anything.
  20. First of all, VERY NICE Bill....looks fantastic. But now I have to address this ten fold price increase thing. I did a bit of research and came up with these numbers. 1999 Yamaha Royal Star Venture - $15,999.00 2013 Yamaha Royal Star Venture - $20,590.00 Price increase of 28.70% Changes - Color 1999 Harley Davidson Road Glide - $16,285.00 2013 Harley Davidson Road Glide - $20,509.00 To be fair, these prices are for the Road Glide Custom. There was no Road Glide Ultra in 1999 so this was the only way to get a true price increase comparison. The 2013 Road Glide Ultra actually retailed for about $22,250.00 Price increase of 25.94% Many Changes - Partial List Engine Frame Brakes Stereo Security System Transmission 1999 Honda Goldwing $15.999 2013 Honda Goldwing (non ABS) $23,990.00 Price Increase 49.95% Many Changes
  21. I'm sorry to report that after a long battle with cancer, our very own Lorella Eaves (Wolfie) has succumbed to that terrible illness. She has left behind her earthly pain and suffering. I ask that you keep Mike (Redneck) and the boys in your thoughts and prayers.
  22. I don't know what is causing your issue but I don't think it is this feature. How long have you had that problem? This feature has only been active for a little over one day. My first question would be what is the size of the pictures you are attaching? What kind of Internet connection to you have?
  23. I got my Road Glide seat back from Rick also. It looks great and I think it will be very comfortable but I guess it will be at least a few more weeks before I can try it out. More snow this morning.
  24. Just got to the Detroit Motor City Casino. Have a small sign show here this afternoon and tomorrow. If any of you just happen to be here, give me a shout.
  25. Well Cleveland Clinic has what they call MyChart. I got up this morning and had an email telling me that my test results had been posted. So I took a look and to be honest, I don't understand a lot of it but after using my good friend "Google", I have come to the conclusion that everything looks pretty good. Stress test appears to be fine. Echocardiogram of the heart looks ok too. The only thing that I was a bit unsure about was the abdominal aorta echocardiogram. It stated that I have an Ectatic Aorta. From what I could tell from Google though, it is very mild and it looks to me like it is something that will probably be monitored maybe every couple of years but nothing to be concerned about at this time. Of course there is a chance that I'm reading everything incorrectly but I don't think so. I'm sure I'll hear from my doctor at some point and will know for sure but for now, I'm moving on with my normal activities.
