No problem here. I almost did it a couple of days ago. Probably will if you don't.

What started out as a discussion about Covid-19 has sunk to discussion about abortion and other topics. If it continues, this thread WILL be deleted. It should have already been but I've tried to be patient. That patience is wearing thin.

Can somebody help please

Make sure that the rubber boots on top of the carbs are have not slipped up on one or more of the carbs. That will cause exactly what you describe. I found that over tightening them would cause them to slide up and then it would suck air there. -
Folks, I know that there are some who don't like the rule but it is the rule. This is purely political and you know full well it is not allowed here.

I have re-uploaded the picture. -
Prayers with you my friend. I had hoped that we would all be spared from this and that is still my hope. Don't be the first.

Road pegs on SVTC
Freebird replied to DesertLawman's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Yes, the same ones used on the RSV work great on the new Venture. I ended up buying some knock off KuryAkyn style off Ebay. I wanted black one and KuryAkyn didn't have them in our size. They worked fine but didn't tight up quiet enough and would slip just a bit. I drilled one hole in each side and used a set screw to solve the problem. -
Things are quiet around here. After finally somewhat getting over the pneumonia, I'm somewhat back to normal. Still not 100%. Get winded quicker than I used to and tire out quicker. I installed a stairlift on Thursday and had a service call on Friday and another today. Have another sales call this afternoon about an hour away. Even the driving wears me down. This is a follow up call to finalize a couple of details and I'll probably install it on Monday or Tuesday. Things are pretty slow though. Not getting many calls. My business is exempt, "essential" I suppose, but the phone isn't ringing much. Probably for the best until I really start feeling better.

They can be tough to remove after being on for several years. You just have to keep at it. Move them up and down and then side to side and they will eventually loosen up enough to pull off.

Thanks folks. Sorry that I haven't replied lately. I am doing much better. Pretty much took the week off except for some work in the shop yesterday. Feeling pretty good. A little weak and still not breathing as well as I did but not bad. I'm going to be fine. Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers.

Finally got the results of my Cornovirus test. Negative. It's all good as I suspected. Now I just have to kick this pneumonia.

That video sure brings back some memories. I remember when I was 15 years old putting many many miles on my CL350. Makes me want to go out and buy another one, or possibly the CL450 which I have never owned, and do a cross country trip on it. One last HURRAH if you will. I would give it some serious thought but would love some company. I actually bought another one a few years ago but it sure felt small after riding the bigger bikes for a lot of years. Bought this one and had it shipped here from Minnesota. Was as good as it looks in the pictures but ended up flipping it.

Thank you Peggy for posting it and thank you all for the prayers. I'll be OK. I haven't felt good for almost a week. Eileen has pushed me to go to the doctor but you all know how stubborn I can be. I've been extremely busy the past few weeks and just didn't feel that I was sick enough or had time to take off. I installed a stairlift on Monday, went home and went to bed. Installed on on Tuesday, went home and went to bed. Had a couple of service calls on Wednesday and another install on Thursday. I got in the habit of dragging myself out of bed, getting things loaded up and getting to the install sites and getting them done. Then boing. back home and sleeping until starting over the next day. If I pushed myself and stayed busy, I actually felt better. Had a couple of sales calls on Friday and then Eileen finally put her foot down and demanded that I go to he doctor on Friday evening. He said that I likely had an upper respiratory infection and gave me an antibiotic. Saturday, I got worse. I finally woke up around 3:30 in the afternoon and Eileen had my clothes ready and told me that we were going to the emergency room. She said that she felt like she was watching me die. So I, reluctantly, headed to the emergency room. Of course one of the standard questions you are asked around here is "Do you feel safe at home". I told him yes, I felt I could take her but wasn't so sure today. Anyway, They did some blood tests and a chest X-ray and it was determined that I have double pneumonia. Thery put me on two different antibiotics and did a breathing treatment. Suggested I stay in the hospital but then made the mistake of saying that I could go home if I agree to follow instructions. Of course I went home. Just so you know, they also tested me for the cornovirus so I am self quarantined for the next 24 hours or until I get the results back which should be sooner than that. They said that my chance of testing positive is only about 15% but I needed to be tested. So there is that. Otherwise, I'm doing pretty good. Have to get better soon because I have another stairlift to install on Tuesday morning. I'm betting I'll. be ready. .

Ohio cancelled all K - 12 schools for the next three weeks. At least some colleges have closed also.

I'm not sure that I agree with all of this. Especially the part about Bobber's being 600 cc or less. A lot of early Bobbers started out as 1200 Sportsters and etc. Even larger Harleys. Now Harley and Indian both market "Bobbers" that are larger than 600 cc. I think it has to do more with the style that the engine size. I did a search to see if there was a true deifinion and most agree that they are basically bikes with all unnecessary parts striped off to make the bikes lighter and faster. Usually with no from modifications. Remove front fender, bob rear fender, small lightweight seat, etc. I personally think that they look cool but not something that I would want to ride for any distance. The closest thing I've had to one was built from a 750 Honda. I was much younger then and put a lot of miles on it. Couldn't do it now though.

Looked through them. Nothing really excites me and it appears that not a single one of them has a title. Not worth the effort for me. Maybe if they were closer.

Of course. Would be nice to meet you.

Freebird's Maintenance Day returns this year on the weekend of June 6th, 2020. This is an event that Eileen and I always enjoy hosting and we hope to see many of our old friends and meet some new ones this year. The official date is Saturday June 6th but it is not unusual for folks to start showing up on Thursday afternoon and some don't leave until Sunday. That is all well and good with us. As usual, there will be a catered lunch on Saturday. There is no fixed cost associated with the lunch but there will be a donation can so that you can help with the cost if you are inclined to do so. For those who have never been to Maintenance Day, we have a great time helping one another with minor work on the bikes. If you need to do something to yours but are not 100% comfortable with it, there are always plenty of experienced members around to lend a hand. This can be anything from carb syncs, oil changes, adding accessories, etc. You are responsible for bringing the supplies (oil, brake fluid, etc.) needed for your project. If you don't want to transport those things all the way here, there is a Walmart, Advance Auto Parts, Autozone, and etc. within 2 to 4 miles. Please understand that there are some projects that are simply too big to get done on a Saturday. Keep your expectations realistic. Large projects such as valve adjustments and etc. are just a bit much to get done. Please be willing to get your hands dirty. Members love to help each other but not do it all for you. Traditionally, we make a dinner run on Friday evening to the Quaker Steak and Lube in Vermillion. I will be contacting them to let them know that we are coming and will need to let them know how many to expect so that they can be ready for us. It's a nice ride of about 20 - 30 minutes there and if weather is good, they have a nice outside patio area. I will start putting up some hotel information and etc. over the next day or two. Usually those who have been here before will join in and post where they will be staying. If you prefer to camp, we have plenty of room at our place for you to pitch your tents. There is also a fire pit beside the pond and another in the back yard and there will be plenty of wood for any of you who wish to sit around a fire in the evenings. There will be plenty of water and soft drinks iced down. If you want beer or other adult beverages, you need to bring the refreshments of your choice. There will be a gas grill beside the Gazebo beside the pond and also a gas/charcoal grill on the rear deck of the house that you are welcome to use. There is a hot tub on the rear deck that you are welcome to use. It will be clean, sanitized, ready for you to enjoy. Clothing optional for "WOMEN" only. There will be a porta-potty for the men's use. Our ladies are welcome to use the restroom in the house. There will always be hot coffee available. We usually sell some tickets for door prizes and also a 50/50 drawing. I'm sure I'll think of other things but that's the gist of it. Hope as many of you as possible can attend. Please RSVP on the calendar just as soon as you can so that we will know how much food and etc. to order. Here is a direct link to the event on the calendar. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=524&day=2020-6-6&c=1

OK folks. We have finally decided on the date. We considered skipping this year but the truth is, we really enjoy doing it and just couldn't get our minds around not having it. So, the official date is June 6th. That is the Saturday. As usual, you are welcome to come early and stay through Sunday. I will start a thread in the Rides and Rallies section to add the hotel information and etc. Of course you are always welcome to camp at our house. Please RSVP on the calendar ASAP. 2018 vs 2020
Freebird replied to DesertLawman's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Not much. I understand that they have updated the Infotainment/GPS system. I don't think there are new features but a different supplier. There are upgrades to it where there have been none for the '18 since '18. -
Very nice. It should serve you well.
