Looked through them. Nothing really excites me and it appears that not a single one of them has a title. Not worth the effort for me. Maybe if they were closer.
-
Of course. Would be nice to meet you.

Freebird's Maintenance Day returns this year on the weekend of June 6th, 2020. This is an event that Eileen and I always enjoy hosting and we hope to see many of our old friends and meet some new ones this year. The official date is Saturday June 6th but it is not unusual for folks to start showing up on Thursday afternoon and some don't leave until Sunday. That is all well and good with us. As usual, there will be a catered lunch on Saturday. There is no fixed cost associated with the lunch but there will be a donation can so that you can help with the cost if you are inclined to do so. For those who have never been to Maintenance Day, we have a great time helping one another with minor work on the bikes. If you need to do something to yours but are not 100% comfortable with it, there are always plenty of experienced members around to lend a hand. This can be anything from carb syncs, oil changes, adding accessories, etc. You are responsible for bringing the supplies (oil, brake fluid, etc.) needed for your project. If you don't want to transport those things all the way here, there is a Walmart, Advance Auto Parts, Autozone, and etc. within 2 to 4 miles. Please understand that there are some projects that are simply too big to get done on a Saturday. Keep your expectations realistic. Large projects such as valve adjustments and etc. are just a bit much to get done. Please be willing to get your hands dirty. Members love to help each other but not do it all for you. Traditionally, we make a dinner run on Friday evening to the Quaker Steak and Lube in Vermillion. I will be contacting them to let them know that we are coming and will need to let them know how many to expect so that they can be ready for us. It's a nice ride of about 20 - 30 minutes there and if weather is good, they have a nice outside patio area. I will start putting up some hotel information and etc. over the next day or two. Usually those who have been here before will join in and post where they will be staying. If you prefer to camp, we have plenty of room at our place for you to pitch your tents. There is also a fire pit beside the pond and another in the back yard and there will be plenty of wood for any of you who wish to sit around a fire in the evenings. There will be plenty of water and soft drinks iced down. If you want beer or other adult beverages, you need to bring the refreshments of your choice. There will be a gas grill beside the Gazebo beside the pond and also a gas/charcoal grill on the rear deck of the house that you are welcome to use. There is a hot tub on the rear deck that you are welcome to use. It will be clean, sanitized, ready for you to enjoy. Clothing optional for "WOMEN" only. There will be a porta-potty for the men's use. Our ladies are welcome to use the restroom in the house. There will always be hot coffee available. We usually sell some tickets for door prizes and also a 50/50 drawing. I'm sure I'll think of other things but that's the gist of it. Hope as many of you as possible can attend. Please RSVP on the calendar just as soon as you can so that we will know how much food and etc. to order. Here is a direct link to the event on the calendar. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=524&day=2020-6-6&c=1

OK folks. We have finally decided on the date. We considered skipping this year but the truth is, we really enjoy doing it and just couldn't get our minds around not having it. So, the official date is June 6th. That is the Saturday. As usual, you are welcome to come early and stay through Sunday. I will start a thread in the Rides and Rallies section to add the hotel information and etc. Of course you are always welcome to camp at our house. Please RSVP on the calendar ASAP. 2018 vs 2020
Freebird replied to DesertLawman's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
Not much. I understand that they have updated the Infotainment/GPS system. I don't think there are new features but a different supplier. There are upgrades to it where there have been none for the '18 since '18. -
Very nice. It should serve you well.
-
Yep...what time should I expect her?

Not sure why this is still being discussed. It's fine but is not going to change anything. Political posts will be deleted. End of story. This was not just my decision. It was put to the vote of the membership long ago and has been re-affirmed a couple of times since. The result was overwhelmingly in favor of NO POLITICAL POSTS. It wasn't even close. So discuss it all you wish but they will continue to be deleted.
-
Sorry if you disagree but it wasn't handled, there were still political posts being made. They simply aren't allowed.
-
I just deleted a few of the more political posts. Most of you do know better.

Just learned that Gary Linn (yankeereb) has passed away. He didn't post often but enough that many of us knew who he was. Not sure when he passed but please keep his wife and family fun your prayers.

Since they were not numbers like the Millennium, I doubt that the serial number is even known.
-
They are blowing smoke. Leaking shock will hold air pressure just fine. The oil is for dampening and it will still hold air pressure.

RATATATAT,, WHAT DO YA THINK OF THAT!! Finally a binary for 10/22!!
Freebird replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
I have a 10-22 and think that would be really fun. I looked at their website and don't see it listed yet for the 10-22 but the ones that they have listed start at $429.00. Too expensive for me. -
Have no idea. I hope he joins up and replies.

Received this picture from a gentleman in Canada. Pretty cool. Number one of the special edition Millennium RSV.

Corbin Fire & Ice
Freebird replied to Safety_Don's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
I cannot confirm but assume that it will retain the different levels. I replaced only the passenger backrest and there was nothing but the heading pad in the backrest itself. So I assume that the level controls are not built into the seats. You just hook the wires from the seats to the controllers on the bike. That should mean that the different levels will still work. -
LOL....but there was no alcohol involved. . I wish there had of been. That would be a great excuse.

Royal star 1300 radio controler

Also, I assume that you checked both fuses? There is one that most people often miss. It is inside the lower cowling on the right side of the bike. It is marked "backup fuse" or something like that. -
Looks great. I'm a bit surprised that it need any oil though., Did you have it upright when you checked it? Not on the siidestand.
-
That's pretty cool. Sometimes we don't think about the people who make things happen.
-
Thank you for all the replies. Also thank you for all the very good advice, which I ignored of course. I woke up the next morning feeling pretty normal except for a sore neck. I think that when I hit the wall, it forced my head way forward into my check and likely did pinch a nerve. A good nights sleep seemed to take care of most of the pain though except for a sore neck. It's still slightly sore but almost back to normal. I actually went skating again last night but only skated for a few minutes. Will give it a few more days before I really get into it again. Thanks again.

Naw, I promised my wife I would do that if I didn't feel better this morning but I'm going to be fine.

That's what we are missing on the forum, a DOCTOR. OK, here is the story. About a year or so ago, my wife started going to the roller rink just about a mile and a half from our house. She used to ice skate years ago and decided that she wanted to try roller skating as it is really good exercise. She has asked me to go but I've, smartly I think, always declined. About two weeks ago, I finally gave in and agreed to give it a try. Surprisingly, I did much better than I expected to. I have never skated, even when I was a kid, so it was totally new to me. I admit that I fell a couple of times but I got it down fairly quickly. Since then, I've been a few times. I think that yesterday was the 5 time I had been. I got there yesterday and didn't feel as stable as I normally did but was doing OK. I decided to go outside for some fresh air as I do every time. As I was standing there on the concrete pad beside the front door, my feet suddenly went out from under me. I was probably two or tree feet from the cinder block wall of the building and as my feet went forward out from under me, the back of my head slammed against the cinder block wall. It happened so fast that I don't know exactly what happened. It stunned me but didn't knock me out. So I was laying there on my back. My wife was asking me if I was ok. I told her to just give me a couple of minutes and I would be fine. What I didn't tell her at that time though was that I couldn't move my arms or hands. My arms were extended by my sides. I couldn't feel them or move them at all. I couldn't even wiggle my fingers. I was trying hard to get my fingers to move but there was no feeling at all. I laid there for about 30 or more seconds, basically trying to WILL my fingers to move, and finally one of them did just a bit. After a minute or so, I was finally able to start wiggling them a bit and then pretty soon after that, I could move my arms and hands again. So I got up and got myself composed and was pretty much OK. I had a knot on the back of my head and some minor bleeding but otherwise, not too bad. I decided that I was done skating for the day. My wife suggested that I go home and lay down for a bit so that's what I did. When I got in the truck and my back touched the seat, it felt slightly like there were thousand of needles sticking me. When I got home I took off my shirt and when my fingers touched the upper left side of my chest, there was immense pain. Like a thousand tiny and sharp needles sticking me. I literally couldn't touch the left side of my chest without feeling the needles. No bruises or any indication of anything except the pain of needles. I went back to the skating rink about an hour later to pick up my wife and we went to dinner. By the time we got back home, the worse part of that needle pain was finally gone. I feel much better this morning. My neck is a little sore and I have a big bump and a small scab on the back of my head. The needle pain is gone but when I touch my upper chest, it is very slightly tender. My question is, what the heck happened. Why were my arms and hands paralyzed. What caused the needle pain on the left side of my back and mostly in my upper left chest. And the bigger question, why would an almost 65 year old man decide that taking up skating is a good idea? That being said, it has now become a challenge and I doubt I'll quit. I will be more careful though.,
