  1. I'm not sure as these carbs were purchased 6 years ago off ebay. Is there an identifier I can look for to find out?
  2. Dang, you guys are awesome! You definitely don't disappoint! Thank you all for this input. I'm gonna take all of this and get to work. I'll be sure to update once I find what it was. And cowpuc, that was a REALLY finely detailed explanation that even a simple country boy like me can understand! I really appreciate all of you guys. I'm grateful to have a place like this that I can ask the experts. Y'all are the best.
  3. I have a 97 tour classic. I've cleaned the carbs RELIGIOUSLY. Four times now. I have the bike running, but when it idles, gas pours from the overflow tube. At high RPMs, it stops leaking. I was able to seemingly relieve it for a time as it didn't leak, but it's back now. I tried a seafoam soak for 48 hours, no progress. I'm planning on taking them apart and cleaning them really well again. All jets have been clear, float needle moves freely. Am I looking for an o ring or a seal? Diaphragms look brand new and needles seem to move freely. I'm just gonna clean it all again, piece by piece and see what happens, but if you can tell me what to keep and eye out for, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
  4. Hey, peeps! I almost flipped out today. I've been restoring my 97 tour classic over the years. It was a victim of a fire and neglect afterwards. I have put a lot of time into this bike and did a complete engine rebuild, new seats, custom paint, the works. And today it started pouring coolant from the side of the head. Naturally, I pulled the cooling fin off, seeing that it was coming from behind it. Coolant was QUICKLY pouring out of the weep hole. I had no idea this was a drain hole for the spark plug cavity. Mike Eykamp and Patrick OCarroll consulted me through it and we found that my spring pin that holds the water jacket is GONE. I blew some air into the drain hole to clear it and boom. The water jacket backed out completely and it poured coolant all over. I'm so grateful it's an easy fix! I was terrified that I had blown a gasket or something horrible just after I got this bike back to running right. It seemed like it was a huge deal. Nope, just a little pin! New pin is ordered and I'll be set. So if you needed a laugh today, I offer up my worry and learning experience for your enjoyment. If you know Mike and Patrick, make sure to tell them they're awesome!
  5. 97 Royal Star Tour Classic I took this bike apart 8 years ago and I'm almost done with it. Now I need to mount up the rear crash bars and I can't remember how they mount. No amount of holding them up and thinkin' has led me any closer. Does anyone have any pics of how they go on?
  6. Thank you for the help! I think I got it done.
  7. Hey guys, I know this might be a silly question. I've seen the maps in some of the signatures and assume they mean where you guys have ridden. I'd like to have one in mine. How do I go about doing this? I tried searching on the bar at the top right but I couldn't find it. Any help would be appreciated! Have a great day!
