  1. Thanks Earl well we didn't tailgate this afternoon but we did remove the smoke from the house. It seems there is always money leaving my motorcycle fund for other needed items. I am operating so slow with the HP bidding on ebay is a 2 minute process...hope to find a replacement PC today...keep in touch Earl we WILL ride together this Spring! And maybe use my back yard pavillon for a little gathering..
  2. Thanks all, I will begin my search today for a replacement , but this old HP is going to make an adventure! Slow so slow... Dave
  3. My wife, Denise called me at work today to let me know the computer was on fire. I told her to unplug the tower and grab the fire extinguisher. Came home, opened the case and sure enough the circuit board is fried, scorched or melted almost everything inside. I was lucky Denise was home or Lord knows what may have also caught fire. So what desk top/ laptop computer do you guys and gals think I should buy for a replacement? I had a dell dimension 2400 running XP which had been upgraded a couple of times with more ram etc. I am now using the OLD HP windows 98 I gathered back from the attic to ask this question and it is super slooooow!! I even have to use internet explorer because it can't handle Moxzilla of Flock browsers. Any computer sales right now? Dave
  4. Thanks Greg you have posted some good points on the difference in the two makes, not to mention HD requires premium fuel. . Also reading on the HD forum and I can NOT find the post, that HD is in the process of maybe making all their touring bikes water cooled. Due to larger displacement heat problems, leaner running to stay within EPA specs. owner complaints of heat, and the possibility of limiting liability issues due to heat related burns from exhaust and some reported clothing fires.
  5. Thanks roadkill I'll give it some thought and let you know

  7. It seems no two HDs are alike. The guys I work with, most having HDs, comment as to how one Ultra is much smoother than others. I guess vibration is some what of a trade mark of the breed and my previous HD of the mid 70s was down right nasty to the point parts did become loose. I know that is no longer the same with the improvements that were made. That being said, I was not totaly happy with the vibration of my 05 1600 Kawasaki Nomad on 500 mile runs. And after bringing back from the dead my 87 Venture Royale I again enjoyed a smooth highway ride but was a little confined in that saddle due to my 34" inseam. I have looked at 08 RSV in my area but the dealers won't budge off of MSRP and my closest HD dealer won't stock a Road Glide because he does not like them and claims they are hard to sell. Problem I have is the economy. Once I buy a bike I may be forced to keep it. The days of disposable income are gone for a while and extra money is what most use for purchasing motorcycles. So i am sure it would be hard to sell a bike at seasons end without taking a loss. Watching ebay, craiglist, etc., as jobs are lost or threatened the bike numbers are increasing. It is a buyers market if I can just deceide on what bike to look for. So keep the comments coming.
  8. How did the handling compare between the VR and RG and did the fairing compare to your VR as to wind protection?
  9. Thanks John that is what I am after...facts
  10. Thanks wrecked a 87 VR liked the frame mounted faring...remember no bash please ...just facts
  11. Still looking to replace my wrecked VR (last June) I have a question but would not like to turn this into a BASHING thread !...so, has anyone here sold an RSV and purchased a HD Road Glide? I like the fixed fairing bikes better than the bar mount fairings IMO. And your thoughts are??
  12. Hi Earl/Jean I am still looking for a replacement scoot but the RIGHT deal has not come my way yet! I have been checking ebay, craiglist, etc. for the right bike if I can ever narrow down my search. Denise has also been looking as she misses the rides as much as I. With the amount of job lay offs, furloughs, etc. bikes are for sale everwhere ! Denise wants me to check into a HD Ultra Classic and I am not sure exactly what I want... Maybe looking at additional surgery on my foot due to the crash last June the doctor is wanting to remove 2 more damaged veins. He called it a soft tissue crush injury which caused much more damage than I expected.
  13. .MsgBody-text, .MsgBody-text * { font: 10pt monospace; }http://www.maps-gps-info.com/gp-rvw-gar-sp2610.html I am still using the older Garmin 2610 on my bikes. does not have some of the newer bells and whistles of the newer units. Is waterproof, vibration proof, and if using a cig lighter/power outlet socket to power the unit, the speaker can be located were it is heard at highway speeds. Under $100 if you watch some of the GPS discount sites or Ebay. Also have the Garmin 350 and 750 in my vehicles which are not waterproof and the speakers are rear mounted on the unit making them nearly impossible to hear on a motorcycle.. Would more than likely buy another 2610 if mine ever fails, and a refurbished unit is inexpensive and has the full warranty. Dave
  14. file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/Owner/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpgfile:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/Owner/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.jpg http://forums.delphiforums.com/kawvulcan/messages?msg=84293.7 Try this link from the Kawasaki forum he mounted a Road Glide fairing on a 1500 Nomad and claims it worked out great. I am sure if you PM him he will end some photos ( which I can't find) of the mounting process. I know it is on a Kawasaki but I am sure the set up would be close to what you are looking for. I thought of adding the RG fairing to a 05 Nomad I had because I liked the fixed fairing on my 87 Venture...Good luck ! If you receive the photos please forward them to me .. Regards Dave
  15. Well Earl did you make a counter offer ? Let us know........
  16. Always more to think about ! What brand did you purchase?
  17. Ok our fireplace, or, mounting area for the TV will be 16 feet from the seating area and the mantle is 5 feet off the floor. So, the LCD bottom will be at 5 feet and top of screen will be close to 7 feet 2 inches. TOO HIGH ?
  18. Again thanks for your input all! The fireplace in my living room is never used so heat will not be an issue, but thanks for warning of the failure rate due to heat. I will continue to watch this thread and hopefully make a good decision using all input gathered here as my guide. Dave
  19. Thanks all keep the opinions coming!
  20. Need some opinions PLEASE My wife would like a 40" LCD flat panel tv to mount above the mantle on our fireplace . What brand would you suggest? I started researching LCD's and the information varies depending on what site I look at. Which LCD brands do you prefer and what retailer, internet included, had the best deal? Dave
