  1. I have headset for 3/4 helmets. They are 1 1/2 years old and I now have a loose connection in my helmet. It is where the cord from the bike attaches to the side of the helmet. I most times now have to jiggle the connection to get the mic and speakers to work. I haven't tried pulling it apart as I figure that will be a winter project. It is a really poor design as the cord and sticks out at the bottom of the helmet. (I really don't like Yamaha accessories) Has anyone had this problem and how did you fix it? I ride an 07 Midnight. Thanks, John
  2. I bought my 07 Midnight in April 07. Got the Yamaha head sets with it. A few weeks ago, I started having problems with mine. There is a loose connection in the junction where the cord mounts on the helmet. I went into my dealer and they checked with customer support and there is only 90 days warranty on it. I complained to the gm but that didn't do much. So I paid a lot of money and they won't stand behind it. I also got the Yamaha cover and it is starting to spread at the seams. The mp3 player that came with the bike is crap and I never use it. Also notice that some of the other accessories on the bike are cheap. I've decided that there will be no more Yamaha accessories go on the bike unless I can't get them elsewhere. Yamaha doesn't seem interested in keeping existing customers. At least here in Canada. I was at the Atlantic bike show in Moncton in Feb and was talking to a VP from Canadian head office and I was telling him about all the nuts and bolts that came loose or fell off shortly after I got it. His response: "So what do you want me to do about it?" His attitude was pretty much a "don't bother me" one. Sorry for all the venting. It seems service is a thing of the past.
  3. Hey Maritimer, Glad you enjoyed the ride. It was a great day. It was one of the biggest turnouts ever. I got some stuff from the little auto parts store just past MacDonalds on the Northside of Fredericton. I forget the name right now and I'm in PEI. I will check it when I get home Thursday or Friday and let you know. It works really good on swirls and scuffs. John
  4. Thanks all, I haven't had time to play with it as I've been straight out since I installed it. I am using the aux plug on the stereo and that I believe is the culprit. Even with the sat radio turned off I get noise.
  5. I just installed a Sirius radio on my Venture. Works great but I am getting engine feedback/noise. My riding buddy has XM on a Shadow and has the same problem. Mine is connected via the socket on the fairing, soon to be hard wired. The Shadow is hardwired with a filter. Anyone have this problem? Is there a way to get rid of it? If I go fast enough I don't notice it as much Thanks, John
  6. I'm with Spud. I love the bike but have no use for Yamaha. I have an o7b Midnight. At 4,000 Kms bolts started falling off. My dealer and the dealer in Charlottetown where I happened to be at the time were really good. I emailed Yamaha Canada service (try to find contact info for them sometime. Almost imossible). NO REPLY. I talked to a Yamaha vp at the bike show in Moncton this winter and his attitude was "tough"!! Maybe it's just Yamaha Canada. So, the only reason I wouldn't buy another is the company, not the bike. Not to sure about Honda either with their new direction with dealerships. I had a wing before the Venture but didn't even look at a new wing last year. Glad I didn't as I like the Venture better...
  7. I hear insurance is really high in Ontario. Here in NB I pay less than $500 but then I have 2 cars, my house, business insurance, and a pile of other stuff with them. And they won't insure bikes by themselves, you have to have another vehicle insured with them. We have a screwed up insurance system here though. A few years ago the insurance companies and the government had "negotiations". The government blinked and the consummer got screwed. There is a cap on soft tissue injuries that is so low it wouldn't cover the therapists coffee. It is also No Fault. But it is cheap
  8. Yeh, my wife likes Stewart too. Sounds like it might break down to which radio I like the best. Thanks all. John
  9. I am putting a satelite radio on my bike. I don't know anyone with sat radio so my question is: Is one better than the other for reception/signal strength? I am in Canada and so far the companies aren't merging but that could change. Thanks, John
  10. I was googling info on something about Ventures ( I forget what now ) and came across this site. Fell in love and joined up. John
  11. None of the Venture riders I've talked to around here have had the problem. At least now I know I'm not alone. I don't know whether to feel good or bad about that. My intention was to go over the bike and put loctite on all the bolts as soon as I get it out of the shed. The dealer here said they would do it but don't trust 'em. I did get the snowblower out today and cleared a path to the shed so hopefully I will have it out next weekend. Thanks for all the replies. I like this site. John
  12. It's my day for posting. Nothing else to do when it is snowing and raining... Has anyone had a problem with stuff falling off their bikes? I bought my bike (07 Midnight Venture) last April. At 4,000 Kms (2400 miles) I came back from an 8 hour cruise and was washing the bike when I noticed the chrome do-dad on the front fender was loose. Turns out one of the bolts had fallen out. After further checking, I found that one of the bolts had come out of the trunk support and another was almost out on the same side. That would have been interesting as my wife was with me all day. It was Sunday evening by now and I was taking off on a 4 hour ride to work in the morning. I spent the next hour tightening bolts. Found a lot that were loose. Got to another dealer on Monday and they replaced the missing bolts. Later on in the summer I opened my side bag and the cover almost fell off. Both bolts had come out. (I had missed these in the previous tightening). More time tightening bolts. I talked to a VP from Yamaha at the bike show here and he pretty much told me to go bother someone else. Not impressed. Anyone else have this problem? None of the riders here seem to have had this happen. Thanks, John
  13. I just googled it and that is what I'm looking for. Thanks, Ride Safe, John
  14. Hey all, This is my first post. Mostly cause there is 100 feet of 2 feet deep snow between my bike and the driveway, so even thinking of the bike depresses me:-) What a winter!!! ( I walked out to the shed this morning and the snow is rock hard. Hardly made a footprint so no hope of shoveling it) I really like this site. I have found answers to many questions just by reading the forums. I ride an '07 Midnight Venture. Love the ride. Had an '85 Wing before and there is no comparison. My wife doesn't hound me to pull over after an hour on the road any more. Some days I can't get her off it... Question is: What is a good pump to get for the air suspension? Especially the front. They are hard to get at and because the pressure is so low, just disconnecting the air hose changes the pressure drastically. Tried the dealer here but they aren't much help. Thanks, John
