1st Gen Speedo problem ...need immediate fix.. HELP !!
Marcarl replied to KIC's topic in Watering Hole
Of hand I would remove the whole issue and check for a break or kink in the jacket. It could be that the cable is hanging up on a kink and then releasing. In the process I would remove the cable, clean it with brake cleaner, clean the jacket as well and then lube the cable as it gets reinserted. Once it's in the jacket and completely inserted, I would pull it back out and lube it again. Be careful in the lube you use, ordinary grease will actually restrict the cable rather than help it turn. I would use a very light lubricant, such as Fluid Film or white grease, no axle grease or wheel bearing grease. -
Well I notice Sherri & Mother, and Wayne & Robin.

Yah you maybe right, on the other hand the riders seems to have it for use not for looks, and for him (I'm only guessing, could be a her) it seems to do the job. So good for him! Not often though that you would see one soo well used.

On the other hand, we stayed at Ben 3 times now. Somehow I always got the same room. Non-smoking, clean, comfortable enough, but the toilette always has this issue with not working when it should. Hey! it's cheap and close, what does one expect, sometime you live with what you can and ignore the rest. I'll stay there again, just because it's like,,, real close and won't kill me.

Interesting that it is a front center stand, thought it might be more effective if it was a center center stand. Guess the front is in need of better support lately,, things do change,, I just learned the other day that corsets are no longer used,,who would have thought????? but hey, it's my life and I have to live it. -
Sorry guys, you loose, it ain't either. The pictures don't do the reality any justice, but those trees were just plain gorgeous this morning. And those 2 flying carpets? Well we invented them to fly over all that snow so that we could keep a better eye on it. It seems that sometimes when we go to sleep, someone or something comes and takes it all away, and we're left with nothing again. So we are trying to figure it out, and the first thing we got going are some flying carpets. These are the ultimate in flying carpet design, only available if you live North of the border. No need for windshield wipers, radio, or any of that fancy stuff like back-up cameras, door locks, and more foolish un-needed crap, but it does come complete with air-conditioning, after all we don't want things to get anywhere near close to warm. We tried some other designs that had things like wings and high speed fans, but after a couple of test runs we were informed that we needed a license to carry on with them, and Kelloges doesn't put them in cornflakes anymore, so we needed a new concept. They are a HOOT! The stories I can come up with!!!!!,,, and if we give this idea to Puc,,,, we'll get pages and pages of reading material. Actually, the person that owned the truck before me had a transponder for our local toll highway, and those are 2 strips of velcro on my windshield used to hold it in place. But I really like the flying carpet idea,,, gonna work on that some more sometime.

Thought I would share some pictures I took this morning, just in case you don't get to see such a beautiful part of creation. Sun was shining and the temperature sat around -8c or 17f

84 Venture Royale CLASS problems
Marcarl replied to old's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
For the E4 code I would spend a bit of time at the back. Take the compressor unit out and apart and totally clean it. That should happen once in a while anyways. Could be you have a stuck solenoid or a poor connection on the wiring harness. Check to make sure that the exhaust port is clean as well, that's a short rubber hose coming from the valve bank. -

If I remember correctly there is an indicator on the outside that would tell the difference, can't remember what that was though. -

Quick starter Replacement Question
Marcarl replied to ken5124's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That should be a 4 brush starter. Looks right to me and if what he says is true, then that works. 83 to 13, all should fit. -
Recommdations?

I use an 18v Dewalt impact driver. Wouldn't be without it. It has no goodies such as torque settings, but does have a light. I use a 1\4" bit with a 3\8" end for sockets and screws driver alike. The nice thing about such a tool, is that I very seldom strip a screw anymore, either the head or the threads. It does take a couple of minutes to get accustomed to it, but once you get the hang of it, you won't go without it. It's the one tool, that if it crooks, all work would stop until I get me another,, one sale or not. -
Best bring some help I think, Bum may be kind of tired after the holidays and having to deal with a screen door,,, he might be able to lift a load.

It maybe a good time to renew that battery thing before it leaves you stuck somewhere that leaves you out in the cold. Then it could cost a lot more than the price of a battery. I always have my batteries checked in the fall, my mechanic has this gauge that he plugs onto the posts and tells us immediately what the status is. If it's less than 80%, a new one goes in. I figure just the inconvenience of having to get a tow, or even the wait to get a boost (which may or may not work) is just not worth the effort of trying to milk the battery for it's last bit of life. A bad battery doesn't usually get any better as time goes on and can do a wonderful job of taking out the alternator with it .

Now that's very brave of you,,, here we plan and move things around so that we have decent cold weather, something to snow about, something us Canucks call winter, and then you don't honor our invite. No problem though, can understand it for sure. We're not used to this anymore, and even if we were, age is telling us that maybe being less mobile is not so bad after all. Don't really know if that a good or bad idea, but we'll deal with what we got to work with, while we work with what we got to deal with. I do have an order from F4 coming your way, once I order it, and that will happen once the temperature decides to get back up again.

Well this time the Pucster was a way out, couple of us a bit closer,,,,, did we win? did we? Nah,,, I don't think anybody is going to speak about how much and where you spent it, it's just interesting to know,,, and you did ask. Hope you enjoy your ride, and if and when you need some help in the way of info, we'd be glad to steer you,,,, maybe even in the right direction. -

So tell, how much? -
Fixed your pictures, figured I'd better before all the oil ran out. Thought you would have the brakes bleed by now anyways. Now you just need to learn how to put the kickstand down properly before you let go of it and then all will be sunny in your world eh?

More questions: 1) Is your workspace heated? 2) Is there coffee on hand? 3) Do you have the proper parts? 4) Do you know what you're doing? 5) If I goof up, who pays the bill? 6) Is this project time sensitive? 7) Does the bike need to run when we're done? 8) Do you have a first aid kit handy the includes a defibrillator? 9) Will there be watchers and advisors? 10) Is there an hourly rate, and has it increased with the minimum wage increase? 11) Do I need to bring a lunch or do I need to walk to work? 12) If there are 12 screws will it be alright just to remove just 10? 13) Will you be there if I don't show up and then how will I know? 14) Do I need to bring any tools? caution, the rate doubles when I bring tools. 15) Will others be disappointed if they don't get to 'help'? 16) Do you have bleachers or is it standing room only, keep in mind there needs to be room for at least 1 LazyBoy. Enough for now, I might think of more when you have all these answered.
