  1. It's the wrath of Vince Lombardi and the football Gods. They're not happy that Green Bay lost the Championship game, again!
  2. I do all the same plus I stuff some steel wool into the exhaust pipes. Not deep at all so you can pull it out in the Spring. I figure it's a way to keep critters from crawling up in there.
  3. Never kick a fresh turd on a hot day. Harry Truman
  4. I rolled the dice and put on a pair of Metzler 888s. I've read good and bad, decided to try them for myself. My son put the Shinko 777s on his 05 RSTD earlier this Summer. I take more weekend rides than he does but his commute is much longer than mine. He likes his 777s. So far I like my 888s but I'm still on my first tank of gas since changing. It'll be interesting comparing the two as we add the miles. I think I'll do an oil change this weekend too. It's looking dirty, so why not? Shell dino oil, not the synthetic. Ride safe!
  5. I also wanted a matched set of tires, was disappointed at the E4 issue. I just ordered a pair of Metzler 888 and getting them installed next week. I wanted Michelin Commander III but both tire sizes was not an option. My son recently put Shinko 777s front & rear on his 05 RSTD. He likes them. These Metzlers will be more money than his Shinkos but I'm picky about tires, on my cars and for sure my cycle.
  6. It's been my experience that the speedo is off by 10%, not necessarily a certain mph. I have to show 80mph on my speedo to be going 70-72. Conversely, I've experienced that showing 50 is pretty close to 45. It's confusing, yes. Speedo on my V* 1100 was spot-on. When I drove my RSV home from the dealer on the Interstate I was showing 70mph and everyone was blowing by me. After several miles of this I kicked up the speed. Mentioned it to a friend who has an 05 RSTD and he said the same that everyone here is saying. All the speedos read slower than actual.
  7. I'm sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers Bro.
  8. I found mine on cycletrader.com. You can search by geographic area.
  9. All I've owned is Yamaha, but not many. 86(?) 550 Maxim. Wife & I enjoyed that bike & riding with her parents. Her dad rode nothing but Yamaha. We sold it when we started a family and went without an MC for almost 20 years. His Junior year of High School my son bought a 80-something Suzuki GS650. His bike but I rode it some, rekindled the flame. 2014 or 15 I bought an 06 V-Star 1100 for my wife and I. We had a blast on that bike, I loved it but we wanted something more comfortable. 2018 I bought my current ride, 07 Royal Star Venture. I was leaning hard toward a RSTD but decided once I upgraded the seat and put a batwing fairing on I'd have more money in it than if I bought the RSV. So RSV it was! No regrets!
  10. Looks like one heck of a project. I know you'll share some after pics.
  11. . Whatever you do assuming your married or equivalent DO NOT use the phrase {{what to do with myself that week}} out loud or someone is bound to offer suggestions I left that door wide open without thinking about it. I appreciate your restraint.
  12. My ride in and around the Ozarks next month has been cancelled due to this Covid-19 business. I've been looking forward to this since last year, hoping it would still pan out. We were to ride from WI to MO & AR with several states in-between. Too many unknowns in too many states to make the trip relaxing and enjoyable. I'm an "essential employee" so I'm still taking the time off of work, just unsure what to do with myself that week.

Prayers given. Sorry for your loss.
  14. Very sorry for your loss. "In time, we will be happy again." -Abraham Lincoln upon the death of his son.
  15. My son took his RSTD to the shop last month. Parts were ordered but ETA changed from two weeks to June 6. Other non-bike items I've ordered take forever from overseas.
  16. RAM Mount. 1,000s of miles and not a single issue.
  17. My son had a similar issue with his RSTD. It had iridium plugs in from the previous owner (may or may not have been part of the problem). Replaced those with OEM. Also discovered an ignition module was bad.
  18. I saw $1.65 yesterday (Mar 19) in Madison, WI area. A little higher in the city, lower in the "burbs." I want to fill up my car's tank but I haven't been anywhere but to work and back. In a week I'm still 7/8 full. Ya, it's about a 7 mile commute for me, most of it highway.
  19. We call it our "Longest Week (weekend) Ride." We always do a ride that includes June 21, the longest day of the year. Past years it's been a weekend ride somewhere. This year is Arkansas and Missouri. June 13-21.
  20. Yup, everything is closing here in WI as well. Tons of people taking computer equipment home to work from home. Myself and friends are riding the Ozarks in June, that's the plan. Can't really close the mountains...
  21. Ya, I'm gonna take the Castrol back and exchange it for T6. I was looking at the API rating when I grabbed the Castrol, forgot about the JASO rating. This particular Castrol does not have a JASO rating, ergo, I'm not willing to use it in my RSV. Thanks for the input guys!
