  1. I will always remember sitting at a Bar about 40 yrs ago talking to a guy who had returned safely from combat in Viet Nam. Meaning no disrespect I mistakenly said something to the effect "Oh you used to be a Marine" to which I was promptly corrected "Once a Marine ALWAYS a Marine" !!! It made quite an impression... HAPPY BIRTHDAY USMC
  2. Very cool! We havent heard from ole Joe in awhile hope everyone is doing ok!! Craig
  3. I had one of those back in the early 70s, I figured out pretty quick what BSA stands for.... Traded it for a P11 Norton. Craig
  4. Never had a problem with my Stebil, was on my 06 for 9yrs still worked fine when I sold the bike. Put a Wolo on the trike last year, still works fine. My bikes are always garaged and I only ride in pouring rain if I have to. Craig
  5. Wish you all the best, but you dont have to leave! Hang around and keep us up to date on life down under. Take care, Craig
  6. Well I am not familiar with Canadas rules and regs, but it is legal in Pa. I believe I could make the arguement that me and my melon crashing at 60mph would probably not cost the ins co very much at all, where as the guy with the helmet may survive and cost the ins co a whole lot of $$$$$ patching up his body. What happens if the guy with the helmet is speeding? too fast into a corner? does he smoke? drink? overweight? exercise, on the phone, texting, not paying attention, does your ins co refuse to pay for all those choices? I usually try to stay out of these helmet topics for this very reason, unfortunately I allowed myself to get sucked in, I said my 2cnts. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Craig
  7. I believe its a mature adults choice on how they choose to dress when riding their motorcycle, apparently the state of Pa agrees. I would never try to talk anyone out of wearing a helmet if that is there choice. That being said I enjoy riding without a helmet. I sure dont feel the need to call anyone "stupid" and I am fully aware of the consequences. I dont believe Insurance rates in Pa have been affected by the helmet law, mine have not. Enjoy your ride, I'll enjoy mine! Craig
  8. Think I remember Randy A using 2nd gen gears in his 1st gen, he mite be able to answer a few questions for you! If he says Thank You, be sure to say your Welcome:nanner: Craig
  9. My wife loved our 87 Venture never a complaint. If I remember correctly there was a handle to adjust the back of the seat into different inclines. I am not knocking Sportsters but I dont think they were designed for passenger comfort. Craig
  10. Ok, now I know the rest of the story on the tire, I always loved those Avons!!! Craig

  13. Looks like it was a beautiful day! Farther south you go, the prettier the Parkway is. Enjoy your ride!! Craig

  15. Wow is she a cutie! Glad to see she is doing so well. Craig
  16. I'll say!! I usually get around 16K on an avon rear, so I never saw one that looked like that. Craig
  17. The Calvacade is boxier or squarer then the Venture not as sporty looking. The motor and trans are pretty much bullet-proof, there is an issue with the secondary gearbox that needs to be addressed, its called a tracy plug and is a pretty simple fix. I have owned an 85 Suzuki Madura since new, its the calvalcades little brother V4 1200 basically same motor and trans. They have hyd valve adjusters so no need to ever get into the motor. Very well built bikes, just a matter if you like the looks or not. If you get it there is a forum similar to this one with guys that know them inside and out. Good Luck, Craig
  18. Yea but he had 20K in lites on that puppy:Laugh: Craig

  22. Glad to hear they are getting you "dialed in" and hitting on all 4. Hopefully the new air/fuel mixture gets you feeling alot better!!! Craig
  23. Take the outer fairing off again, take the large black radio connectors think there are 4 or 5 of them. Open them one at a time, blow any moisture out of them then spray contact cleaner in them. Apply a small dab of dielectric grease and push them back together making sure they are tight, I wrapped electric tape around mine but most dont. It generally fixes most radio problems. Good luck, Craig
  24. Sorry to hear about your slide, but glad it wasnt alot worse! Been there, you are gonna look like Col. Sanders extra crispy for awhile, loose fitting white cotton long sleeve shirts will help and lots of Aloe. All the best, Craig
  25. Happy for you Earl, hope you continue to get good news and feel better! Craig
