  1. Rstd... actually airing out differences openly is in no way a bad deal, it's very honest. I am 60 and i have no intention of changing out any more exhaust pipes, I don't have a lift and my rebuilt shoulder is no friend of the concrete floor. So my friend, we both entered this with honest intentions, you offered the best trade, the condition of my pipes was worse than what I described, but the pipes still work. If you want to come change em back out I am completely fine with that. Otherwise we are looking at a $ compensation and I am willing to send $80 at this point, the price of a new set of bub tips.
  2. He wants his old pipes back and me to pay shipping both ways. He never did pay for the shipping of my pipes to him. The reason I choose these pipes and this guy was he said he would pay shipping both ways, he took them off when he first bought the bike. My thoughts are along the lines of: these pipes were a huge pain to install, he said he took them off when his bike was new so he has a different workable exhaust, and I don't want to pay any shipping ..... so perhaps I send him some $, but i just don't know what is fair because the Bubs were fine ... and with new tips no corrosion or flaws would be visible.
  3. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=51456&highlight=pipes I traded these pipes to another member. Our agreement was he would pay shipping both ways. The stock pipes came a few days before I left for Sturgis. I took off the Bubs and installed the factory pipes. The job took 4 hours, should have been easier but it wasn't the stock pipes didn't want to fit. Getting the Bubs ready to ship I noticed some surface rust spots on the bottoms near the seams. It was not noticeable when I took the pictures but the removed pipes were not pristine near the seams and there were rust spots that appeared to be from rock strikes. It was time to leave for Sturgis on that day I mailed back the Bub pipes. Now the trade partner wants me to pay all return shipping on both sets of pipes. I am not going to do that but I WANT TO BE FAIR ALSO. So Ruffy and Big Tom maybe it was best I didn't trade with you. Any ideas
  4. No gaskets and the BUBS didn't use them. Trip to Yamaha tomorrow.
  5. I traded some BUBS for a set of Tour Deluxe factory mufflers. The TD dpipes arrive today and the opening to the pipes is 1/4 inch bigger than the BUBS, in fact the the BUB muffler opening will slide into the TD muffler opening , aren't they supposed to be exactly the same? I tightened down most of the set screws but I am uncomfortable going much tighter. The exhaust is leaking at the end of the header. What I am i doing wrong?
  6. I have arranged a trade with rstd_mn, we spoke on the phone. Thanks to everyone who PM'ed
  7. I have received and answered 3 PM's Here's pics, won't be able to trade until 2nd half of Sept. Sorry I didn't notice I left the cleanup rags until after I took them The left tip has chrome flaking otherwise un-dented and in good shape http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq86/qdude1/DSCN1681.jpg http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq86/qdude1/DSCN1680.jpg http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq86/qdude1/DSCN1679.jpg http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq86/qdude1/DSCN1678.jpg
  8. Me, more of a battalion chief now though
  9. I bought my Venture with Bubs, would prefer the stock setup. I really like listening to the music not the pipes. I have the baffles packed right now and greatly prefer the quiet. Bubs are the muffler pipe only and are in good shape no damage. The add on tips are flaking a bit. About 10,000 miles on them. I want stock exhaust mufflers, don't know exactly how we would trade yet, I still have a few trips planned for August. I'll post pics fairly soon Let me know if anyone is interested
  10. Just because you have 40% tread left, please don't ignore your wear rate for the next couple thousand miles. You may be shock how quickly that 40% dissapears. New tires seem to go forever until you get to the bottom half then the rate picks up quickly. Dude, your bummin me out
  11. I had a set of Avons before this, wasn't expecting much from the Dunlop, bought em for the look. The key I guess is keepin them at max inflation not 35
  12. I have a set of D 404 WW and I've got 8000 miles on them. The back still has 40%. I've always set them at 40 lbs
  13. I owned a pit and she was nicest, smartest, sweetest dog you could hope for. My nephew owned a pit that scared the bejebus out of everyone, it turned mean for no reason and he had to get rid of it.
  14. I did my mom's in advance of her passing, could have easily ran $12,000 but planning in advance it cost $6000 and was exactly the same. They have so many little guilt expenses that are completely unnecessary. That $6000 didn't include the plot and stone. There are so many extra expenses that at the time of passing they all will use your regrets and grief for a sales advantage. I loved the line, "this would show visitors nothing would be too good for your mom" when they showed me a $8000 casket.
  15. Rinse out the interior of the helmet and rinse hair if sweaty, not practical for women but works fine for me. Fixes it every time and this used to bother me a lot, but don't rinse hairhttp://the.earth.li/%7Ealex/halley/img/all_frozen_hair.JPG in winter
  16. It looks like a motorcycle zeppelin.
  17. Fire, that was a good obscure song, it was one of those really weird but extremely catchy songs. If Fire had come 14 years later and included flaming midgets, it might of topped this one, which really is one of my favorites of that time, but not that obscure though. I really liked the Byrds that is one never saw it before. 18. 19. I bought my Venture for touring and the excellence stereo. Tape player aside, it is very good and close to any stock bike stereo in production. I listen to tunes every time I ride. 3 of my very obscure favorites What's yours? 20. I'd like your thoughts on mini floor pegs for the forward engine guards. Do they help, are they available?
  21. I also run XM with a boast to the rear speakers, gives a better balance. Bob it's not a waste of money if you noticed an improvement and are happy with the sound. Its kinda hard to get high fidelity sound with so much wind noise while moving... 4" speakers will only deliver 4" sound. The Goldwing 1800 has a nicer stereo system, but there is little difference in the sound quality with a Venture even after the Wing had new upgraded speakers. I guess I'm of the opinion that a small gain in tonal quality is in the ear of the listener and I'm not going worry about speakers until they get scratchy.
  22. Some obscure greats Little Green Bag Chest Fever by the Band or Three Dog Night Ain't Superstitious by Willie Dixon....Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0e-SvL0rLs]YouTube- Little Green Bag : George Baker Selection Cover[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4Z2o4tXESs&feature=related]YouTube- The Band - Chest Fever[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaZ6_rGmjNs]YouTube- Jeff Beck: Ain't Superstitious[/ame]
  23. i don't know about these speakers but my friend put very expensive replacement speakers in his GoldWing. Although i am a professional musician and have a good grasp on tone, he asked "don't these sound much better?' and I lied and said yes ....but I really couldn't tell hardly any difference for his $300. Good mids and not much bass just like the old speakers. You can tell when really bad speakers are replaced but the speakers on a Venture are quite good for 4" cones, and there is just not a a lot of bang for your buck in upgrading...unless your speakers are damaged.
  24. Don't do it, not waterproof, Polk makes boat speakers http://subwooferboxshop.com/store/index.php?c=marine&n=226184&i=B000P0R6GQ&x=Polk_Audio_DB401_4_Inch_Coaxial_Speakers_Pair_Silver Honestly no one notices much improvement unless your old speakers are blown
