Not sure I fully understand what you're saying. Will the bars with the risers hit the front of the tank in a full lock turn (instead of my knees)?
-
Thanks for the information. I'll take a look at the sites.

Pardon me if this question has been answered before, but I can't find exactly what I'm looking for. I have a 2003 RSV. I am 6' 6" tall and have a problem with the handlebars hitting my knees when I'm in a slow-speed full-lock turn. Actually, it's the brake and clutch levers that limit the turning capability. I don't need much clearance, but adjusting the levers would take more than I want to do with them. My question is this, will 4" straight risers work on the RSV--that is, will they clear the faring? How about pullback risers, are they better for this purpose? I notice some of the riser advertisements say no new cables or lines needed. It seems to me that these would have to be changed. I'm currently looking at straight 4" risers from JC Penny (cheap in case they don't work) and would appreciate any information anyone can provide. One other thing, I don't need the bars any closer to my body than they currently are, so maybe a 2.5" riser would work better? By the way, the bars are too close to the fairing now to get enough height to eliminate this problem. Thanks.

Now, there's something we all should complain about: BLIND women out driving cars.

AKRefugee, Great stuff! I had an ex-Harley rider tell me the reason they don't wave is because their ride is vibrating so bad they're afraid they'll lose control. Works for me.

Me too--SWM. $125 apiece at my door. Love 'em.

Got my lifta adapter from Carbon_One the other day and my bike has been in the air ever since. Love that adapter. Of course, I can now see all the stuff underneath I need to clean/chrome/replace, but it'll keep me from running out of projects (and keep me broke). By the way, for those of you who THINK you're mechanically challenged, it'll only go on one way. Yeah, I tried several different ways and the wife stopped me when she saw I was about to strap it to seat and flip the bike over onto the lift. Actually, it takes about a minute to install and the bike is as solid as the lift from that point on. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. (C_1, would have sent this sooner, but my computer went belly up for a couple days. If it ain't one thing, it's another. Thanks for the quick turn-around on my order--it showed up the second day after ordering.)

So when they do, just tell them you'd like two more and ask them to show you where these deals are. That usually shuts them up. If it doesn't, tell them they're not exactly what you're looking for. (By the way, C-1, I'm sending another topic message on the lift I bought from you. Heads up.)

My dealer installs these on all bikes, including smaller scooters, for around $1300 parts and labor (I think that's what he said). Has done three recently for amputees--it's a lot cheaper than a trike and it keeps them out in the open. Had never seen one before, but what a great idea, eh?

Thank you. That makes a lot of sense. I've been facing the bike and even straddled it once, I'm sure going to try your method IF (when) it happens again.

Just browsing the posts and saw the pics of the "great driveway embarrassment" of '07 and have this question: what is "the "walk it up" pick up theory"? My '03 RSV has had me down a couple times and fortunately I've been able to get it upright WHEN it's fallen uphill. Otherwise, it's hunt up lots of help. Is there a trick to this besides "don't let it get down in the first place"? Another post talked about mice farting in a tin can. My therapist has spent the better part of 5 years trying to convince me I'm the only one who'd trap mice for that purpose. Can't wait to share that post with her. And, finally, I'm going to give it my best shot to be in Charleston next Saturday for the meet and eat--I'll leave all furry things and duct tape home.

Diamond R leveling links
noahzark replied to ediddy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Didn't feel like I was riding an elephant, but there is a subtle difference in height. I notice it in the windshield--the top is now exactly in my line of site whereas before it was a half-inch or so above my LOS. The highway handling is greatly different on my 'o3. It doesn't have that laid-back autopilot road-warrior feel any more--the slightest input on the handlebars causes an amplified movement in the lane of travel. I find I have to "raise up" about halfway through some turns to get back on line because I'm turning more with the same input I used before. Not a downside, just a difference and it's easy to adjust to. All in all, I would never have believed the shorter links would have done all that, but I'm glad it does. The minor adjustments at highway speed are a lot better than the arm wrestling at slow speeds. By the way, after I installed the links and verified the handling difference, I put on Avon Venoms. I believe this has a lot to do with the high-speed handling, too, as the old tires were Dunlops with 14K+ on 'em. -
The Oficial "I Dropped My Bike At Vogel" Thread
noahzark replied to 86er's topic in Embarrassing Moments
Seems to me there're two kinds of RSV riders, those that have dropped their bikes and those that will. I'm sure glad someone started this thread, though, because I've felt like the Lone Ranger for a long time. I wondered if anyone else had those low-mph-drop-'em-blues AND how in the hell do you get that beast back upright without an Arnold Swar . . . Swartze . . . Arnold What's-His-Name around? I got mine upright one time by myself, but it wasn't fully down for the count--listing about 30 degrees. I always felt that if you couldn't upright your fallen bike, you needed to get a smaller one, but the RSV is worth a little embarrassment, IMHO. Now, what I'd really like to know is, is there a secret, or, do you just wait for the cavalry to show up? This is a real problem for me as I do a lot of traveling by myself. Any help will be greatly appreciated. -
Thank you for clearing up that problem for me. I also have an iWAY 350C that shuts itself down. I also thought it was vibration related because I don't have the problem in my truck. Of course, I never drive my truck in the heat without the air conditioner set on "MEAT LOCKER." Thanks again for the information. Oh, yeah, I have the RAM mount on the handlebars, too.

Had this same problem with my 03 RSV. I fixed it by drowning the locks in WD-40. Had to do the same with the helmet locks, too. Just need to keep a rag handy to keep the WD-40 from getting into the bags--takes a long wihle to get the smell out. Good luck. Noah Getting there is ALL the fun.

Ask 'em, they'll print out a list for you with all the mileage checkups. (If not, find a new dealer.) noahzark
