  1. I have 22,000 miles on my bike and have never had a problem with the front end wobbling. I have appox 4,000 miles on a set of metzlers. Last weekend was riding to north carolina and took both hands off the handle bars to adjust my helmet and got the crap scared out of me. The handle bars started wobbling badly and I thouhgt I was going to lose it. I have never had this problem before.
  2. When I purchased my bike new in Sept 05 it had the whine around 50mph, but if I went below or over 50 it went away. No problem, I can work around that. I was on my way to bike week in daytona this spring and the whine started at 30mph and got louder as I got faster until at 70mph it was unbearable. I went by one of the guys riding with me and he heard the whine. I had approx 17,000 mile on the bike. The dealer put the I basket in and the whine went completely away but started coming back and now it starts at about 40 mph and gets louder as you get faster. It is unbearable and I shouldn't have to put up with this. This is my first and last venture. As someone said on this site, yamaha said they didn't care about the current customers only the potential customers, well yamaha better change that attitude or they won't have may current customers. I can't believe that don't understand repeat cutomers.
  3. I have an 05 RSV and I have never had anything so frustrating as the whine and rear end noise. I love the comfort and performance of my bike but can't take the noise. I had the I basket installed at approx 18,000 miles and the whine went completely away. The last week in June my wife and I rode to the North Carolina mountains. We wore our shorty helmets so we used ear plugs. The only noise I could hear was the whine of the transmission. I now have 22,000 miles and the whine has come back and starts at 40 mph and gets louder as you go faster. This past weekend my wife and I rode to the North Carolina mountains again and this time we wore our 3/4 helmets so we could use the intercom. I was so disappointed that all I could hear was the whine of the transmission. The ride would have been perfect if it hadn't been for the whine. When I would go down a hill and didn't have to have any throttle and there was no whine it was so pleasant. I can't believe yamaha hasn't eliminated this problem. If I could trade I would do it in a heartbeat, but I financed the bike and am too upside down to trade. As far as suing yamaha, it would be almost impossible. Attorney's want a case where they can possibly get a large settlement. If you sued and won how much could you collect for damages for a loud transmission noise? Probably not much. Also, yamaha has corporate attorneys on salary that could keep you in court for years and cost you a fortune in attorney fees before anything was done. If yamaha can't solve the whine I will never buy a venture again. Eddie Hall
  4. Hey Midsrv, How long have you had your unigo and are you satisfied with it. I had just about decided on the uigo but a friend on mine that rides a goldwing said a lot of the wingers had trouble with the fiberglass cracking on the unigo and they hadn't gotten very good customer service from unigo. I have been on the wing web site but haven't seen anyone mention problems with the unigo so it could just be rumor. Thanks.
  5. Hey RSTDinPA, Hope you don't have anymore problems with the whine, but you are right not to be too optimistic. I had an I basket at approx 17000 miles on my 05 RSV. The whine went completely away, until last week at approx 20,000 miles. It's not whinning as loud as before but it seems to be getting worse the more I drive.
  6. I do what clearview recommends. I soak a towel in warm water and put the towel on the windshield for apprx 5 minutes. When you remove the towel almost all of the bugs will be gone. If you spray any kind of cleaner on the shield while the bugs are on it the dried bugs will scratch the shield. I then spray with pledge and wipe clean. You should never use paper towels on a cycle shield.
  7. Hey Jethroish, I had this problem last November and made several post about it. I even talked to the Regional Service Manager with Yamaha and he called and talked to the service manager at my dealer. It is a common problem but the regional service manager said it wouldn't do any damage to drive the bike. Anytime anyone does any work on the rear end even just changing the rear tire the splines need to be re greased.
  8. We use frogg toggs. The best place to order them is www.outdoorboss.com. You can get them new for 39.95. I ordered on a friday and received them on monday. Their service is excellent. After use I repackage them with our food saver. It will shrink them down in a compact package that doesn't take up much room.
  9. Hey Marcarl, I talked to the regional service manager with yamaha and the only thing yamaha says can be done is to grease the splines when you change your tire. He said over time the spinning of the splines throws the grease off them.
  10. Hey bobo, Where did you get the tailblazer? Thanks
  11. Hey Juggler, I have looked at these pants in catalogs and like their looks. One question. Can you wear these over your regular pants or are they made to be the only pants you wear with them?
  12. I bought the lift adapter that our member Carbon One makes. It is excellent. I would buy it from Carbon One again even if someone had the same lift for less money. I believe in helping a member.
  13. Yesterday I tried to repair the broken tabs on the chrome piece that fits below the windshield. I bought the speed nuts mentioned in an article. I couldn't get the chrome piece to fit after using the speed nuts so I had to take them off. I priced a new chrome piece at the Yamaha dealer and it is $115.00. I may have to get a new one as bad I hate to pay $115.00 for a peice of plastic. Anyone been successful using the speed nuts?
  14. Hey Lepapehermann, The spoiler looks good. I added one to my 05 RSV this summer. I let my dealer install mine.
  15. Last week I rode my bike to the dealer for the 16,000 mile service. I drove 100 miles to Tallahassee Florida. There is a dealer here in Albany, Georgia but they didn't have the bike I wanted so I had to go to Tallahassee. The only reason I go back to Tallahassee is I financed on the Gold Card and my services are included for 36 months. The price Tallahasee charges for the 16,000 mile service is $1,100.00. I picked up my bike yesterday and drove to my office and parked it. When I left work yesterday afternoon and stopped at the first traffic light I heard the worse clicking noise from the rear end I have ever heard. I pulled in at an independent cycle repair shop that was on the way home. Two guys I ride with were there and the mechanic said he would look at the bike and not charge. We checked the rear end oil and it was full of fresh oil. When you sit on the bike and roll it forward or backward you can hear the click. It isn't a click that you get each time the wheel makes a full revolution but one click after another and it is loud. So I am going to trailer the bike back to Tallahassee. Here is my question. I have a trailer but have never trailered my venture. The instruction sheet with the pingel wheel chock I purchased says not to tie a touring bike down with the front forks but to put a tie down strap around the triple tree. I can't see where you can put a tie down around the triple tree with the fairing. Any suggestions. I have an 05 RSV. Thanks.
  16. Hey 2Whlsrollin, The outlet is the one in the front in the fairing. The fuse for this outlet is located behind cowling A, which is, if your sitting on your bike it is the cowling on the right. The cruise control, carburetor heater, auxiliary DC terminal, auxiliary DC jack, audio system and spare fuse are located there. Getting cowling bolt A back in is a pain. I had to leave it out. I have tried and tried to get this bolt back in but just can't do it. If anyone knows how do this please let me know.
  17. Thanks to all of you that replied. I called CyclePump yesterday and the lady I spoke with listened to my problem and said she would relay the info to the owner, David Petersen. Here is the email I received from him. Eddie-I got a message about your fuse problem on your Yamaha. You'll need at least a 10amp fuse to run the CyclePump. This won't hurt your bike or your wiring system because the CyclePump won't draw enough juice to harm the wires. The fuse acts as a thermal switch to shut down the circuit in the event there's an overload. The fuse also protects the wires and prevents them from overheating. In the thousands of bikes we've outfitted there's never been a problem with the larger fuse. What do all of you think? Thanks.
  18. Hey RPG, Thanks for the reply. Is the wiring you hooked to your battery where you can get to it without removing the seat? Thanks,
  19. I ordered the CyclePump that is supposed to be the best air pump on the market. It cost me $100.00 plus the shipping. Saturday morning I checked my tires before a trip and I had 35 lbs in the front tire. I got out my cycle pump and was going to increase it to 40 lbs. When I turned on the pump the pressure went from 35 lbs down to 30 lbs. I was checking to make sure all the connections were good when the pump quit working. I plugged it into my car cigarette lighter and it worked fine, so I knew I had blown the auxiliary dc terminal fuse. The fuse for that terminal is a 5A. I replaced it with another 5A and when I turned on the pump it immediately blew that fuse. I got the instructions and read them and it says the cyclepump requires a 10-15A outlet. Would it hurt anythig if I changed the 5A fuse to a 10A? Thanks for your help.
  20. A friend of mine with an 04rsv couldn't believe I used 87 octane so I started using 91 in my 05rsv. I can't tell any difference so I went back to 87octane.
  21. Yesterday was a good day. I received my adpater from CarbonOne. Last week I went to sears to buy a jack and they were $99.95. I decided to wait until I got my adpater so I went to sears yesterday and the jacks were on sale for $69.95. I went home and used the adapter and raised the big silver rsv. The adpater is perfect. My bike was as steady as a rock. Thank you Larry for making the adpater available to people like me that aren't mechanically inclined. I was even able to figure it out so you know it is simple. 22. Helomech, I'm sorry to heart about the loss of your friend. My grandfather died with ALS in 1961. This was before we knew much about the disease. My grandfather was a big hardworking man. He plowed a mule during the day and cut hair for people at night by a lantern. My dad said he charged 10 cents for a haircut. You also have to remember he didn't use electric clippers, he used the kind you had to squeeze by hand to make them work. I saw him go from being healthy and strong to walking with a cane, then in the last days was confined to a wheel chair. The ALS started paralyzing his vocal cords and he couldn't even talk. Some of you may remember when Oral Roberts was on TV healing people. My uncles and grandmother heard that Oral Roberts was going to be in Texas so they packed up and took my grandfather to see him in Texas. He wasn't able to help my grandfather but told him had the faith to be healed. Maybe one day we can find a cure for this terrible disease. Sincerely, Eddie Hall
  23. Good info. I have another chrome problem. On my luggage rack I get rust where the rack was welded. I used Turtle wax chrome polish and cleaner and it will remove the rust, but in a couple of days the rust comes back. Any suggestion? Thanks
