  1. Beautiful Bike! Life is short. Buy what makes you happy (as long as the wife lets you:Avatars_Gee_George:)!!
  2. That is why I won't delink the front left caliper from the rear caliper on my Gen I. It's the predecessor to ABS. I think the Goldwing has linked brakes if it doesn't have ABS doesn't it?
  3. This guy did the Dalton on a Honda C90. https://c90adventures.co.uk/alaska-to-argentina/a2a-episode-2-dalton-highway-to-prudhoe-bay/
  4. Sounds like you have a great neighbor!
  5. An infrared thermometer is a great tool to check exhaust temps without burning your fingers and they are inexpensive. I bought mine from Autozone and paid a little more than some others. https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=infrared+temperature+gun&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=174262184638&hvpos=1t1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15658903309154799492&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9010080&hvtargid=aud-395617894931:kwd-327314660&ref=pd_sl_7b5r54sxna_e
  6. Really sorry to hear that. It happens though. I got laid off when I was 50 after 21 years when the company decided to downsize and get rid of as many 20 yr employees as possible to reduce their retirement obligations. I ended up working as a contractor doing the same job for more money but I was away from home most of the time. I was divorced for many of those years so I didn't mind being away that much. I retired at 70.
  7. partzilla.com is where I buy most of my OE bike parts
  8. New 2013 Ventures are still available!
  9. Yah gonna be able to give up a weekend of installing stairlifts? Uh oh, you're gonna put us to work installing stairlifts!!!
  10. 83 degrees! Wow!
  11. I had to have a talk with my wife too. I know the garage is not organized and she tends to want to organize it. But then I can't find anything. So, I only allow her to park her car in the garage. She isn't allowed to mess with my stuff!
  12. Found this link. Looks like it may have some information http://www.thetrikemanusa.com/HardwareKitInfo.html
  13. Can't have too many tools or toys!!!!
  14. Seems to me I remember that the farmers back home added water to the tires to add weight?
  15. Yeah, but I'm a left foot braker. I still have my left foot on the brake a little when I start pushing the go pedal. I doubt it would work right driving like I do. I know that Focus I rented a couple years ago had some screwed up trans that disengaged the automatic transmission when sitting stopped with the brake on. When I gave it gas the engine revved freely until I completely released the brake. I hated it. Won't buy one.
  16. Something to think about is that all 2018 F150s have the stop and go feature which means the engine shuts off every time you stop and restarts when you press the gas. You can turn it off but you have to turn it off every time you use the vehicle. That would irritate me. I have gravitated to Fords over the years because they won me over with their reliability. But, I won't buy another new one because of the stop and go feature. I recommend you buy what you want after driving all the potential choices. I have never paid any attention to consumer reports on reliability or other opinions. Trade in value doesn't matter if you keep it a long time and you will keep something you like much longer.
  17. If I remember correctly, International tractors were bought out by the Indian Co. Mahindra. So, in a way, it's an International. The ones farmers in my area had when i was young were called Farmalls made by International. I think according to the ads, it's the best selling tractor in the country. I wouldn't worry about the quality at all.
  18. I think I would be afraid I would buy a K1600 GTL if I rode it!! Same reason I've never allowed myself to test drive a BMW auto! One of those K1600 GTLs passed me and my wife one day and she commented about how nice it was and she won't ride with me. It sounded like a precision piece of machinery, like a Goldwing. Before I bought my 89 Venture, I was considering a BMWK1200LT but I happened upon the rant by the BMW mechanic and it discouraged me.
  19. My wife had a DNA test done. She is from Siberia, Russia. One surprising thing was that it said she was 5% Native American. The Russians did settle Alaska and sold it to the USA. Many Russians lived in the Washington/ Oregon area early in the history of the country as I remember. She insisted I had mine checked so I did. I supposedly am about 94% West European with the highest percentage Irish, about 28%. It also said that with "low confidence" that I was 3% African,
  20. VanRiver, How are you liking your K1200LT? (thread hijack!)
  21. Wonder how much a 150lb plus spouse sitting in the sidecar would affect the drive? It looks like some ingenious engineering. The K1600 is a beautiful bike!!
  22. While I agree that the training is necessary and justifiable, not many of us would want to or could afford to subject our motorcycles to the kind of abuse those bikes go through while training officers. But when the taxpayers are doing the funding the sky is the limit.
  23. Welcome! You don't have to own a Venture to be a member. Lots of owners of many brands on this site.
  24. You may have heard lots of people recommend not using Fram filters. This video will help explain why.
  25. Training in short sleeve shirts?
