I have bought it at Walmart but it's been a while. https://www.google.com/search?q=simple+green+degreaser&oq=simple+green&aqs=chrome.2.69i57j0l5.8343j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Yeah, when I was stationed in South Korea in 1969 & 70, I found out what they used for fertilizer in the rice paddies!

Man! I feel for you! That sounds like a really tough, (crappy) job. I think I would just bite the bullet and call a pro to git-er-done. Time is something to consider too. How long will it be before you can use your home again?

I think every time I've ever tried to use an EZ out, it snapped off. Just replace the master cyl. Plenty of parts bikes out there. I bet a member has one in his garage. Maybe cowpuc? I did something similar with mine and bought another master cylinder from a member. Just irritating, not consequential. -
yeah, the old Dr. Atkins diet does work. Eat fat, protein, and veges with no carbs. I tried it a couple times but it's really hard to give up bread, potatoes, rice, and anything with sugar. When I was on that diet, I started looking at labels and I realized that almost everything has sugar added to it, ketchup, mayonnaise, almost every prepared food. What really irritates me is that the local Smithfield's Barbecue restaurants have loaded up their slaw with sugar. It's sickening to me.

After going to their web site and reading the article, I see that only 2 of the bikes are water cooled, the BMW and the Kawasaki. The Kawasaki is the second lightest and has a dry clutch as well as being the least expensive by a lot. If I was into baggers which I am not or at least at this time, I think I'd have to take a hard look at the Kawasaki.

Maybe they were concerned some of the biker gangs would show up. The Hells Angels are still active in Chicago aren't they? I was watching a tv show the other day entitiled "Biker Chicks". The main person they were talking about first married one of the leaders of the Mongols. The Mongols were having a turf war with the Outlaws in FL and he was killed in his garage while working on a bike. They showed a photo of the guy in his garage and a Gen I Venture was in the background of the photo in his garage!!

Congratulations! -
You many want to consider some Mark II forks to get the 4 piston brake calipers if you can find a set for cheap. Excellent work on that bike bringing it back! Keep us updated with lots of photos. We love to read about a restoration!

Yep, Freebird was spot on I think. The more electricity you use, the lower the voltage and the higher the amps. It takes a certain amount of watts to do the work and volts x amps =watts. Think if it like a water system. It has a certain pressure (voltage). The more water you use (amps), the lower the pressure. If the voltage gets too low and the amps too high, the motor will get hot, possibly too hot.

That salve is probably no longer available because they fed a rat 10lbs of it and it got cancer.

Wow! What a great job you have done bringing it back! A local guy has a blonde 83 for sale. It has about 40k miles on it.

I just looked at my parts. The electrical plug housing is a Dorman brand made in china. The filter is a Wix made in Taiwan. And the conductor plate is supposed to be a Dorman but the only name on it is Mercedes Benz which is on the plate in two places along with the Mercedes symbol. This makes me guess that Dorman makes the plate for Mercedes.

If you haven't seen them, you might want to see these videos. There are 12 of them and all are on the internet.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered a torque wrench, the Capri Tools 31200 20-150 Inch Pound Industrial Torque Wrench, 1/4" Drive. Supposed to be made in Taiwan. I ordered it from Home Depot. Free shipping from Home Depot. I don't like Bezos politics.

Come on over! You are welcome any time! I bought the conductor plate from rockauto.com for about $150. All the parts stores seem to sell the same brand which is Dorman. I was quoted about $1600 at the dealer to do the job, $900, and $500 at two transmission shops. The dealer wanted $963 for just the conductor plate. A while back I bought a dipstick from B&M that is designed to stay in place. I'm not sure I trust it though. According to it, my transmission was overfull and I had had the dealer check it a couple years prior to that. Yeah, what I dread the most is getting that beast up off the ground high enough to work under it. Being so low to the ground and with the unibody construction it ain't like my old chevy's. After getting this dang Shingles under control, I will tackle the job and let you know how it turned out.

I did look at the HF 1/4" drive torque wrench and they are out of stock. I also looked at Lowes.com and the one they sell Tekton has only a few reviews and they are all bad. When I needed a torque wrench for a 221 ft lb torque for the front wheel spindle on my truck, I bought the Lowes brand Kobalt.

I started taking Valtrex 3 days ago and the Dr. prescribed Tylenol/Codeine for pain. I have been taking ibuprofen too for the pain. And the pain has almost gone away. The blisters are drying up. But the last couple of days my left knee the affected knee will collapse on me if I put too much weight on it or let it bend too far. I fell today because of the knee collapseing and I had been doing a set of 50 squats 3 times a week before this debacle. I'm on the mend though and I'm very grateful for that.
