Really sorry to hear that Paul. I have a nephew who got it bad when he was in his 40's I think. He was very macho and active working two jobs. He said he had to quit both jobs and it was about a year before he recovered completely. I'm optimistic about my recovery but it has been 3 of the worst weeks of my life so far. The last time the doctor renewed the codeine pills she also prescribed an anti-depressant that I didn't buy. Maybe I should have. I didn't ask for a 4th weeks 2 day supply of codeine because she was so worried I'd become addicted. Kind of ticked me off. I took the stuff sparingly and I'm not the addictive type. Ibuprofen will do the job from here on though if it doesn't destroy my stomach.

Well, the blisters were all healed up by the 2nd week. Most of the pain in my left hip was gone by the end of the 3rd week. My left knee is still numb on the front and I still have pain in the joint. My knee is also still very weak collapsing and causing me to fall several times. (I could do 50 squats before this.) The Dr. gave me a 2 day supply of codeine/tylenol in the beginning. I made it last a week by taking a bunch of ibuprofen. She prescibed another 2 day supply twice more that I made last two more weeks. I tell you guys. If you have had chickenpox, get the shot because you don't want this crap. It's been totally miserable for over 3 weeks now. Not knowing any better, I thought that shingles was just a bunch of blisters. Nope, it attacks the nerves and hurts really bad. But the worst is over and I'll be riding again real soon I hope!

It's snowing on the Parkway right now.

I use ear muffs which are good and lately I've been using ear plugs in addition to ear muffs. I still would not fire that AR15 at an inside range. I was at an inside range when another shooter was firing one and it was too loud for me.

I use Gumout for high mileage engines with PEA (polyetheramine) in my cars, small engines and motorcycles to clean the carbs and fuel injectors. It works well and doesn't damage carbs. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Gumout-Regane-High-Mileage-Fuel-System-Cleaner-510023W/16888905?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=7243&adid=22222222227032710931&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=79890642888&wl4=aud-310687322322:pla-110679001728&wl5=9010080&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=16888905&wl13=7243&veh=sem

I bought a Sig Sauer AR15 from the Walmart in Homestead, FL when I worked there about 6 years ago. I sighted it in at a range in Key Largo where a friend had membership and I haven't fired it since. But, the state opened up an outdoor range just outside of Wilmington so I plan to take it there for a little practice. Those indoor ranges close by will allow you to fire rifles but it's just too freaking loud. I respect my ears too much to fire the thing indoors.

Seems the craigslist in my area always has several obvious scams on it, bikes that are priced waaaay below market value with only the craigslist email as a contact point usually. A long time ago, I sold a car to a co-worker. I was a little leery about selling it to someone I knew and let him drive it all weekend to make sure that was what he wanted. I met him at the bank on Monday at lunch time. I signed the title over to him and then he tells me that he is a couple hundred short and would pay me in two weeks. I could only agree since the title had been signed. He did pay me the money in a couple of weeks but I am also sure that he wouldn't have if anything had happened to the car in the mean time. So, my policy after that was to have the cash in hand before signing the title. I also double check the serial numbers of any vehicle to make sure it agrees with the title. About the same time frame, a co-worker's job ended and he put his house up for sale. That is when he found out that he owned the house next door and the lady next door owned his due to a mix up in paper work. he hired a lawyer to get it all changed and the lady next door was agreeable to the whole situation but the lesson was there. Check the paper work.

Wow! That was quick! I've watched motorcycles on craigslist in this area take years to sell.

Congratulations!!:clap2: Maybe you should think about being a plumber. Sounds like they earn more than an engineer!

Oh NO! I'm sorry to hear that. Good luck with the repair!

I haven't ridden one, but from what I've read the K1200LT is very top heavy.

A tall seat is not so bad when the bike is lighter. My Kawasaki is about 500 lbs and I have no fear of dropping it at all riding or pushing it. I can push it around the garage, turn it around in the driveway and I can handle it just fine. I'm afraid to push my Venture around because the possibility of dropping it is very high. It hasn't happened yet but I live in fear of dropping it. The 2004 Kawasaki Concours I owned for a couple of years weighed about 660lbs. I could push it around and turn it without worrying too much about dropping it. But it was so top heavy and that combined with a 26 degree rake made it very hard to ride slowly. It had over a 30" seat height but that didn't bother me and I have a 29" inseam. I did drop it on my foot breaking a bone that caused blood clots in my leg. My wife said, "get rid of that daxx bike." So, I did. A sport tourer does have some good features though. But, for an old guy, it may not be good to fold your legs up as much as they require.

All 5.4L Ford V8s from 2004 on were 3 valve engines and in the F150s and Expeditions they had variable cam timing. The problem these engines had with breaking the two piece spark plugs when they were removed was fixed in 2009. Hopefully, the VCT issues were improved over the years of production. Part of the cause for the VCT issues was neglecting oil changes. Sludge would build up and restrict oil flow to the VCT and cause excessive wear and sometimes metal particles in the oil would cause an engine failure. The 5.4L V8s used in commercial trucks did not have VCT. I don't think I'd be worried if I had a 2014 5.4L. It's a beautiful SUV by the way! The F150s got the 5.0L V8 in 2011 and it has proven to be a solid engine. The Expeditions got the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost engine in 2015.

I suggest a gym membership. I am not a member but I do some exercises and walk 50 minutes at a brisk pace 3 times a week. Bottom line is that at 73, I'm as strong as my 39 yr old son who is 6' 3" tall and weighs 200 lbs. Take a look at the BMW R1200RT. I think it weighs about 550 lbs with 110hp and is supposed to be a comfortable tourer with an upright seating position. It does not have a cruiser riding position though if that is what you prefer. I've only ridden 3 touring bikes, a 2002 Kawasaki Voyager, a 2006 Honda Goldwing, and my current 89 Yamaha Venture. In my opinion, the GW is head and shoulders about the other two in how easy it is to maneuver at slow speeds. The low center of gravity means a lot.

In the small town in NC I grew up in, the local gas stations would run charge accounts for the locals and all of them wound up with $60k to $80k of uncollectable debt. One of those owners was a good friend and another was my brother-in-law. There were more.

And there are new leftovers still available!

He's making the case for his newly designed replacement shock. His shock makes the wing stiffer in the front than the rear. Don't know which is the most preferrable.

I have never bought an extended warranty and never will. It's an insurance policy and the odds are in favor of the ins co. But, if you have no savings and may not be able to pay for a large repair, perhaps it's okay. I bought a used Ford Clubwagon some years ago and the dealer quoted a price for an extended warranty. I cracked the guy up when I told him that if it cost me that much in repairs over the warranty period I would take it out in the woods and shoot it between the headlights! LOL!

Worst luck...

Keep in mind that 4.3 ft lbs means a force of 4.3 lbs pulling at the end of a 1 foot long wrench. It's enough for a M6. -
Looks like the Batmobile!

Wow! If you didn't have a helmet, you'd be killed for sure.
