  4. A man feared his wife wasn't hearing as well as she used to and he thought she might need a hearing aid. Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family doctor to discuss the problem. The Doctor told him there is a simple informal test the husband could perform to give the doctor a better idea about her hearing loss. “Here's what you do," said the Doctor, "stand about 40 feet away from her, and speak in a normal conversational speaking tone to see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response." That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he was in the den. He says to himself, "I'm about 40 feet away, let's see what happens." Then in a normal tone he asks, 'Honey, what's for dinner?" No response.. So the husband moves closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from his wife and repeats, "Honey, what's for dinner?" Still no response. Next, he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, "Honey, what's for dinner?" Again no response. So, he walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away.. "Honey, what's for dinner?" Again there is no response So he walks right up behind her... "Honey, what's for dinner?" (I just love this) .......scroll down ... "Ralph, for the FIFTH time, it's chicken.”
  5. Have you looked down the carb throats while you were blipping the throttle to see if the diaphragms are working in unison? I'd also put some seafoam or gumout with PEA in the gas to help clean the carbs. How does the fuel filter look? You may have corrosion in the ignition wires. The spark plug caps screw off the wires and the wires tend to corrode on the end. Snip a half inch of so off the end of the spark plug wires. Check the other end of the wires at the coils for corrosion at the connections. Weak spark can make a big difference in the way it runs. Also buy yourself an infrared thermometer and check the exhaust pipes temperatures. This may help determining which cylinders are not firing well. Something like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Greenpro-Temperature-Gun-Non-Contact-Infrared-Thermometer-Black-Yellow/121562206?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=2837&adid=22222222227062511638&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=169632236150&wl4=pla-276509431121&wl5=9010080&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=114226822&wl11=online&wl12=121562206&wl13=&veh=sem#read-more
  6. With a full 7-gallon fuel tank, the BMW K1600 Grand America claims an unladen weight of 802.4 pounds According to Honda the new Goldwing Tour weighs 842lbs wet.
  7. Love it! V-twin! Heck NO! Air Cooled! Heck NO! Heart palpitations acceleration! Heck YES!
  8. Awesome! I understand how proud you are!
  9. Actually, back on 9/23 when I watched it I think it became so painful to watch I quit watching before he found out his stupid mistake. But he posted it on youtube anyway. I don't think I'll subscribe.
  10. That's IT!! He couldn't push the pistons back in to stay when he did the second side because the reservoir was full and he didn't take the cover off and remove some of the fluid!!!!
  11. I can't help but wonder how many people have watched this video and not realized his big mistake?
  12. Truth is the world economy is very competitive and getting more so. Cities, Counties, States, the Fed. Gov, AND corporations cannot afford the generous pensions they promised in the past when after WWII we were the only major industrialized country left standing and we were selling our products all over the world with little competition. Corporations have mostly gone to 401ks as their pension plan Others like the company I worked for for 21 years did that and laid off as many long term employess as possible to reduce the size of their pensions. Many Cities, Counties, States, and the Fed Gov are on the verge of bankruptcy. I know it's a bad situation and it's probably going to get worse as bankruptcy becomes a reality and pensions are reduced under the bankruptcy. We are facing a heavy dose of reality.
  13. The sticker in the door jam should have a code that identifies the transmission I think.
  14. Wow! That was a steal! Congratulations!
  15. Nice Ride! I see lots of them on craigslist at what seems to me reasonable prices. Fuel injected and water cooled. Who'd a thunk it?
  16. They are tough critters. I once shot a squirrel with a .22 rifle while he was climbing a tree. He kept right on climbing like I had missed. After he got to the top of the tree, he fell out. When I picked him up, I noticed that he bullet had hit his body cavity and his liver was hanging outside his body. One tough squirrel.
  17. There has to be a way to check the fluid level. How would the dealer check it? There has to be a fill point. The dealer probably checks the level from that opening. google knows all.
  18. One contract job I worked, I was in an office trailer and it was infested with mice. We complained to the plant staff and they put out poison. Well, those little boogers ate the poison and went to their nests in the insulation under the trailer to die. The smell was much worse than the live mice.
  19. I drop the pan and clean it and install a new filter every 20k miles for my 2002 F150. That only replaces about 4 qts out of about 14. You can disconnect the return line to the transmission from the cooler and let the transmission pump a few qts out and refill and repeat until all the old oil is out plus a little extra. Might be best if you want to do it that way to drop the pan first and start with clean oil in the clean pan. I think the shops don't remove the pan and just feed and bleed until the oil has been exchanged. My Dodge Magnum didn't come with a dipstick but it did have the tube for one. I bought a dipstick from B&M. But that particular transmission is a Mercedes transmission and is very temperature sensitive when checking the fluid. You are supposed to measure the fluid temp to get a correct reading. I haven't changed it yet because it was changed at the dealer at 58k miles when the trans started leaking at the electrical connection on the side of the trans and the repair was covered under the 70k drive train warranty. Every 60k miles is my guideline if I exchange all of it. And I only have 108k on the car now.
  20. My 85 Kawasaki ZN700 Shop Manual specs SAE 10W20 oil in the forks? I actually put 5W30 in it the second time I replaced the fork seals and the forks are rather stiff. I plan to change it to 10W fork oil. Modern engine oils have the additives now that make them super slick and that may be why my second set of fork seals starting leaking recently?
  21. Nice looking bike!
  22. I can't imagine opening the throttle on that bike! I would be scared! Truth be told, my 74hp ZN700 and my 98hp Venture have more performance than I have riding skills!!
  23. Times like those make you wish you had a generator. But then, how often will you need it and it is something else that needs to be maintained. Wilmington, NC is the epicenter for hurricanes striking the east coast and when it happens power is lost for a while. So far though 18 hours is about the max time it has been out and so far I haven't bought a generator. But, some folks living in the country have been without power for a couple of weeks. My sister who lives about 3 hours away has one of those big generators that automatically start and provide power when needed. It starts once a week by itself to keep it working properly.
  24. Puc, I really really hope you heal completely and are cancer free after the surgery. We all love you, you know!
  25. It's a new world out there Dan. No big deal. Women have been getting in the stirrups for male gynecologists all their lives.
