I was taking it at bed time and half a pill too because of what happened when I took Zocor to ease myself into taking the statin. And I wasn't just a little dizzy. I was almost nauseous.

Hey, we could make some money! I wonder how much we could get paid NOT to do a posedown!

My cholesterol level has hovered around 200, sometimes under, sometimes over. Several years ago I was prescribed simvustatin, brand name Zocor. I took it for about 3 weeks and I felt achy all over and sore so I quit taking it. Early this year I was prescribed atorvastatin, the generic Lipitor. I took it for 3 weeks and started feeling really dizzy. I looked up the side effects and dizziness was one of them. So, I stopped taking it. Recently, I decided to try it again and the same thing happened. After about 3 weeks I got really dizzy. So, it appears that the statin drugs don't agree with me. One of the other side effects of Lipitor is weakened tendons. FlyingFool, were you taking Lipitor before you ruptured your achilles tendon?

I don't try to go to my limits in exercising any more. Just don't think it would work out. What I do I go for is lots of repititions because I'm afraid I'll pull something that wouldn't have pulled a couple of decades ago. About 5 or 6 years ago when I was working away from home I was using a pull handle and socket to remove a tire from my truck. I actually pulled my right arm out of its shoulder socket. Hurt like heck but it popped back in place and I never went to a doctor. But, I had very limited use of my right arm for a long time. It was over a year before I had full range of motion again and another year or so before the popping stopped in my right shoulder when I did pushups. But now it's all good.

I'm convinced that deer were put on earth for food because they are so stupid. When a vehicles headlight lights up the road, they decide it's a great time to cross. I was working 10 hours a day at the Cooper Nuclear Plant in Nebraska in 96 and signed up for an Autocad night class at Peru Universty in Peru, NE at night. I was going to class one evening after dark and had already entered the 35mph zone inside the city limits when a huge buck deer slammed into the side of my car. His body slammed against the fender and door and I was eyeball to eyeball with him for a second. I think my car ran over one or more of his legs. He got up and fell and got up again and wobbled away. Two nights later when I went to my next class, I asked the instructor had anybody found a dead buck deer around there and he said they had found two. I told him one of them was mine! The deer in NE are twice as large as in NC.

I'm sure that if I stopped exercising, I would be an arthritic couch potato pdq. I'm fighting it as hard as I can.

Yep, the new Wing with a 1700cc V4 (what I was hoping for in the Gen3 Venture) would give you more room for your feet and would REALLY get me excited! But I'm only one in the crowd and I got outvoted. I realized a long time ago that my opinion doesn't count for much.

From what I have read on this forum, some Gen2's have a loud whine coming from the clutch or transmision or something. I don't think it harms anything but is annoying. The OE rear shock tends to fail. Overall, from what I have read they are very reliable like you would expect from a Yamaha.

I think retirement is great! I worked until I was 70 and the last 3 years I have really enjoyed not having to go to work any more. I have plenty of stuff to do to stay busy. My 2nd wife who is 17 years younger is still working so I'm the house husband. I do the cleaning, shopping, washing clothes, and have supper prepared when she gets home. Then I have the yard work, the maintenance and repairs of my 05 Magnum Hemi, 02 F150 4x4, the wife's 13 Infiniti, my two old motorcycles, and the 98 18' Boston Whaler. I enjoy doing everything I can myself and stay as busy as I want to. I spend my weekends trying to entertain my wife as much as possible. She loves the beach and fishing so we drive out on the beach for splashing in the ocean and surf fishing a lot as well as taking the boat out to fish and going on a fun vacation when the wife can take off. I also walk for 50 minutes at a rapid pace around the subdivision 3 times a week and I do several exercises 3 times a week, 30 pullovers on my total gym, 45 arm curls on the TG all on the highest setting, 40 pushups from the knee, 25 situps, and 50 squats, just one set of each. I weigh 230lbs and need to get that down. Life is Good! Knock on Wood!

I think I usually pay about $25 for 100 at Walmart. So that's a good price if it is USA made ammo. The Russian ammo is really cheap.

Wow! That's quite a ladder you have there.
-
No, not on a motorcycle. I've been building this 12' x 12' utility shed in the back yard. Today I was standing on the top of a 6' step ladder inside the shed nailing the roof sheathing when the ladder fell over dumping me onto the concrete floor. You'd think a 73 yr old would be wiser than that! Wouldn't you? Nah! I think I placed my left hand and right hand still holding the hammer on the sheathing in a vain attempt to stop the fall. The ladder fell left and I fell to the right between the step ladder legs. Ended up on the floor, my cap went flying maybe when my head bumped the floor. My glasses went flying across the floor. But, somehow I didn't get hurt!! My left elbow is sore and I got a small abrasion on my right thumb but otherwise no injuries. My wife suggested my extra cushion helped protect me! Ha! So, don't do the stupid things that I do like standing on top of a step ladder! I got up and finished nailing the rest of the roof sheathing. And I forgot to buy lottery tickets!

The way I interpreted this is that you are going to make up your own gauge set to sync with. The problem with doing that is you might need tiny restriction orifices in the vacuum lines to keep the gauges steady. I bought a Motion Pro unit that had orifces in the vacuum lines that were so tiny that I could barely see them. I didn't like that brand at all and got rid of it. Then I made one using long tubes and trans fluid.

Another fairly accurate take on the new Venture..

And carburetors! -
Speaking of radial tires with tubes, the first car tires that were sold in the USA that were radials to my knowledge were sold by Sears with their name on them but were made by Michelin. I bought 2 for my 65 Chevelle. They were tube type and had very thick tubes and the recommended air pressure was only 22 psig so they flexed a lot. I was wearing out new bias ply tires in 10 to 15k miles, recaps in 5k miles and these radials had 39k miles on them with about 1/3 of the tread left when I sold the car. The thickness of those tubes tend to make me think Puc is right when he recommended not putting a tube in a radial tire.
-
I think a tubeless tire could be used with a tube because any trapped air between the tube and the inside of the tire after the tire sealed against the rim should escape at the valve stem hole since it won't be sealed with a tube stem. Just my opinion and you know the saying about opinions!

Did you read the directions for the application of the silicone gasket sealer? I used silicon gasket maker or whatever it is called when I reinstalled the differential cover on my truck and it leaked. Turns out it was supposed to be left to cure for 24 hours before reinstalling. Ford used silicone in lieu of a gasket at the factory but I use a gasket now and they are available at the parts houses so I suspect many people agree with me.

Fuel flow question
BlueSky replied to SpencerPJ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You can check the diaphragms by removing the air filter and looking down the carbs while the engine is running. Blip the throttle and watch to see if the diaphragms are all working in unison. Expect a little popping back because these engines are really sensitive to air flow. Easy Peasy! -
Congratulations! I lived close to Homossassa which is just north of Brooksville during 2008. I liked it down there. Just south of Homossassa, I loved the "Bear Crossing" sign. And there is an outdoor shooting range about 5 miles south of Homossassa where you can shoot skeet, handguns, or rifles.

Yep, listen to the riders. A Venture is way too heavy and too hard to handle at low speeds for a beginner. You need to ride something much smaller until controlling everything is second nature. Both hands and both feet have things to do and you need to be thinking about handling the bike and not what your hands and feet are doing. Things like never stop a heavy bike while turning. It will go down and take you with it.
