They are tough critters. I once shot a squirrel with a .22 rifle while he was climbing a tree. He kept right on climbing like I had missed. After he got to the top of the tree, he fell out. When I picked him up, I noticed that he bullet had hit his body cavity and his liver was hanging outside his body. One tough squirrel.

There has to be a way to check the fluid level. How would the dealer check it? There has to be a fill point. The dealer probably checks the level from that opening. google knows all.

One contract job I worked, I was in an office trailer and it was infested with mice. We complained to the plant staff and they put out poison. Well, those little boogers ate the poison and went to their nests in the insulation under the trailer to die. The smell was much worse than the live mice.

I drop the pan and clean it and install a new filter every 20k miles for my 2002 F150. That only replaces about 4 qts out of about 14. You can disconnect the return line to the transmission from the cooler and let the transmission pump a few qts out and refill and repeat until all the old oil is out plus a little extra. Might be best if you want to do it that way to drop the pan first and start with clean oil in the clean pan. I think the shops don't remove the pan and just feed and bleed until the oil has been exchanged. My Dodge Magnum didn't come with a dipstick but it did have the tube for one. I bought a dipstick from B&M. But that particular transmission is a Mercedes transmission and is very temperature sensitive when checking the fluid. You are supposed to measure the fluid temp to get a correct reading. I haven't changed it yet because it was changed at the dealer at 58k miles when the trans started leaking at the electrical connection on the side of the trans and the repair was covered under the 70k drive train warranty. Every 60k miles is my guideline if I exchange all of it. And I only have 108k on the car now.

My 85 Kawasaki ZN700 Shop Manual specs SAE 10W20 oil in the forks? I actually put 5W30 in it the second time I replaced the fork seals and the forks are rather stiff. I plan to change it to 10W fork oil. Modern engine oils have the additives now that make them super slick and that may be why my second set of fork seals starting leaking recently?

Nice looking bike!

I can't imagine opening the throttle on that bike! I would be scared! Truth be told, my 74hp ZN700 and my 98hp Venture have more performance than I have riding skills!!

Times like those make you wish you had a generator. But then, how often will you need it and it is something else that needs to be maintained. Wilmington, NC is the epicenter for hurricanes striking the east coast and when it happens power is lost for a while. So far though 18 hours is about the max time it has been out and so far I haven't bought a generator. But, some folks living in the country have been without power for a couple of weeks. My sister who lives about 3 hours away has one of those big generators that automatically start and provide power when needed. It starts once a week by itself to keep it working properly.

It's a new world out there Dan. No big deal. Women have been getting in the stirrups for male gynecologists all their lives.

The Urologist I've been going to is a woman physician"s assistant. Didn't bother me a bit to get checked.

I took tamulosin for maybe 9 months but it started to affect my vision which is one of the possible side effects. I was working at the time and after sitting at my computer for a good while and then getting up, I had trouble focusing my eyes. So, I quit taking it. More recently, I tried it again for a while and the vision side effect happened much quicker. I also noticed the second time that it affected my libido too. So, for me, no more tamulosin.

The President's speech in South Korea reminded me of an incident. He spoke of North Korea seizing our surveillance ship Pueblo and imprisoning the crew for a year in 1968. Then in 1969, N. Korea shot down one of our surveillance planes with about 30 people on board. I was in a 40 week training school at Ft. Bliss Texas learning how to repair the Target Tracking, Target Ranging, Missile Tracking radars and the analog computer that computes the kill point and guides the missile to its target for the Nike Hercules Missile System when the Pueblo was seized. This act may have caused me to be shipped to South Korea when I finished training because we had 6 NH missile systems in S. Korea. While I was there, the plane was shot down. When the plane was shot down a crew sat at the consoles for 3 days with a missile raised ready to fire. We could hit surface to surface and surface to air with conventional and two sizes of atomic warheads. After 3 days things went back to normal. Fast forward several years later after I finished college and went to work. A co-op student at work was in the Air Force stationed at Osan Air Base in S. Korea when the plane was shot down. He said that he was on guard duty when the plane was shot down and that the squadron of jet fighters that were in the air at the time evidently retaliated against N. Korea because when they landed they had dropped their wing tanks and had no missiles or ammo left on the planes. Additionally, the pilots disappeared for about a month and than came back with promotions. The Air Force took a lot of heat and criticism for allowing the ship to be seized and their excuse was that all their planes were armed with nuclear weapons!! So, I think they had a plan of retaliation ready if something else happened. The retaliation was never mentioned in the news!

Since a few of us are not so young any more and prostate problems usually accompany aging males I thought I would pass along my thoughts on Super Beta Prostate. I've been taking it for a couple weeks once a day and it seems to be helping. Sometimes when I get up in the morning I have difficulties in getting a stream going. The Super Beta Prostate surely does appear to be helping.

Nope, that's not it. The dealer is in Wilmington NC and the bike doesn't have all the plastic. no windshield, no bags, no fairing. It looks like a great bike for a collector but for riding, there are much better bikes out there these days. While they were fast for their time, the specs say that the 79 thru 82 had 103hp. These days 103hp is not so impressive.

The local Honda Motorcycle dealer has a CBX1000 in the showroom and it looks almost like new. They don't have a price on it but it is supposedly available to purchase.

When the thread is general BS in the first place, does it matter? If someone is trying to resolve a technical issue, I can see why is shouldn't be hyjacked.

I think it would be a distraction.

Just an update on my recovery from my accident in June.

Thanks for the update! Keep working at the therapy and heal quickly! -
ABS is a great thing for most of us. At least the Gen I has linked brakes that many don't like but it could save you from locking up the rear wheel in a panic situation. My crash years ago when I broke an ankle was from locking up the rear wheel and going down. It twasn't fun and was unnecessary.

You were wise to wear the protective gear. Hope you heal quickly. You must have been hurt quite a bit to be in the hospital from Wednesday to Saturday.

Florida doesn't have an income tax so they have to get more creative to get the money to run the state. The tankless air compressors at the gas stations these days puts water in your tires because when the air is compressed the dew point is lowered and water in the air condenses. With a tank you drain it to get the water out but with a tankless compressor the condensed water goes into your tires.

White guy named Devin Kelley killed 26 or more and wounded many more. Local went after him with a shotgun but he was able to flee in his car after dropping his rifle. He died later after a police chase.

Ever wonder why motorcycle insurance costs so much?
BlueSky replied to baylensman's topic in Watering Hole
I think it's people riding beyond their skill level. Both of those Harleys that went off the road were piloted by riders who didn't have enough riding skills to be riding bikes that big on that curvy road. -
How soon I forget. My wife and I went to Cedar Key when we lived in Homossassa, Fl for a year (2008) when I was working contract at the Crystal River Nuclear Power Plant.
