I bought my 500lb ZN700 when I was working a contract job in WI in order to have a hobby while there. The job which was supposed to be a long term job ended when the plant ran out of money and management wouldn't give them any more. So, I was going to dump it on craigslist for whatever I could get for it. But the wife says bring it home. I want to ride it with you. So, I bought a $600 trailer from Lowes and brought it home. Then she didn't want to ride more than 45mph on the way to the beach in a 55 zone. I refused of course to ride slower than the traffic. So, then she decided the seat was too uncomfortable anyway so she wouldn't ride with me any more. So that my friends is why I bought the 89 Venture, to get a bike with a comfortable passenger seat. Then I had a bad habit of looking at bikes for sale on craigslist and the 07 Venture was too good of a deal to pass up....... Since then, I have quit looking at craigslist...... My wife has not ridden with me on either one of the Ventures:crying:

I drove a Mark VIII for 7 years and I loved that car. It had its faults and quirks, but overall it was a car I enjoyed driving every time I got in it. Good Luck with the "new" one!

I don't know if that would work. My only experience with an "On Demand" gas hot water heater at an apt I rented for a contract job was not a good one. I had to turn on the hot water at the sink in order to create enough demand for the heater to stay on and keep my shower from going cold. It probably would work because you only need it when there is a large demand and that is when it will stay on. Interesting question?

Pushups maybe from the knee, situps, and squats don't require a gym and it's a good way to get started. I do those plus I've had a total gym for about 20 yrs that I use to do pullovers and arm curls. I only do one set 3 times a week. It helps a bunch.

Maybe a lighter motorcycle? Maybe an exercise program?

Seems to me I remember you saying when you finished the last repair that you would pay a professional next time........

Yeah, according to an on-line police bike test I read some time ago, Harley says it's acceptable for the oil to get as hot as 400 degrees F! I agree with Puc that the high temps of the air cooled Harleys is the reason for the 50w. The water cooled bikes had a high oil temp spec of about 260 degrees F.

In past times, auto oil may have been okay to use in bikes. But the newer oils are not the same. If you start a new/reman flat tappet auto engine with modern oil the cam will most likely be wiped out requiring another rebuild. Special oil is required for the startup an break-in of a reman flat tappet engine. This makes me wonder if it is not the best oil for high revving motorcycle engines. Another thing a guy who works in an oil company lab posted on the F150 forum is that synthetic oil will not stick to engine parts after shutdown. All of it will drain to the base. Something he referred to as a "tackifier" has to be added to synthetic oil to correct this. Otherwise an engine will start up without proper lube if it is allowed to sit for a long time. I remember Flyingfool speaking of Valvoline oil. As I remember he stated he will not use Valvoline motorcycle oil again because rust formed on the top of his engine after sitting a long time. So, I think I will use conventional oil in my bikes in the future, especially the water cooled ones. My smelly opinions:icon_lurker:

This week when I was in Walmart, I looked at Quicksilver oil. Walmart only had the marine oil which did not have the Jaso spec on the bottle. I will not use non-Jaso rated oil in my bikes. Rotella T4 and T6 have the Jaso spec on the bottles but not the T5.

Good to hear from you. I keep thinking that "bikeless" tag will disappear but not yet!

Issue with all cylinders running
BlueSky replied to Sylvester's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If they sit for much more than a week, the carbs are partially gummed up. If you drain the carbs when you leave it, that may not happen. I put a whole bottle of Gumout for high mileage engines with PEA in a tank and run it a while and let it sit overnight and run it again. That clears it up for me. -
My "smart" battery charger bought at Walmart for about $30 or more does have an AGM setting.

I was stationed in South Korea at an Army missile site when the first Woodstock happened. I was working when the second one happened but my son went. The first one was a financial disaster but the second soaked everybody. You coudn't take any food or drink with you and they gouged you when you bought inside. I think that is why some of the attendees broke into the trailers and stole food and then burned the trailers. Now that I am retired this is my chance but have no interest any more. I'm sure pot won't be the only happy drug available. Hey, we would overdose on viagra anyway if we went this time.

Awwh, just pay the guy $3500 and let him do it. Remember all the hard work last time!

Mk2s have linked brakes and are totally different from a Gen 2. Gen 2s do not have linked brakes and the rear brake is very powerful.

Marcarl, you are slipping my friend. 1st gens were sold thru 93.

Check your meter with a known source such as a 12 volt battery. If the meter is correct the new R/R is bad.

I think the HH pads are metallic, not semi-metallic and they will wear out the rotor fastest. The organic pads sound like a good idea to me for the rear of a RSV due to the strong performance of the rear brake.

The right side kitchen sink drain was almost plugged. I poured lots of crystal Drano in it with little change. I got a small flexible steel cable from the garage and attempted to ram it down the goose neck but it wasn't flexible enough. So, I got out the tools to remove the goose neck to manually clean it out. Then my wife says why don't you use the toilet plunger. I did and it pushed the clog out. I need to keep her around I guess to supplement my retarded repair skills!

One of the first tools I bought after buying my first motorcycle was an impact driver. It has been a big help over the years. But, the following video provides a great tip for making the impact driver even more effective.

Tough way to start the new year but so glad you are okay. I also hate to see a nice Venture damaged.
