  1. I got a call from my sister telling me that our nephew, our deceased brother's son was killed in a car accident. The driver of the other vehicle supposedly went to sleep. He was 42 yrs old. His father, my brother, died when he was 42 due to complications from diabetes. You just don't expect something like this to happen. The good news is that when I called my son in LA to tell him about his cousin, one of the things he told me was that he has another grammy nomination for recording and mixing Beyonces' latest album. He already won a grammy award 2 yrs ago for recording/mixing her album "Lemonade".
  2. The old battery went dead with the key out. I did leave the key in the bike since Saturday but it was in the off position. Looks like it has a short somewhere. Could be the ignition switch. I bought an AGM battery from Autozone for my Kawasaki over a year ago and it has been great.
  3. Well, I gotta problem. My brand new battery that I installed last Saturday was dead today. I have not started it since Saturday and I didn't get around to hooking up the battery tender. So, something is killing the battery. Troubleshooting time! Any ideas would be appreciated!
  4. It's amazing that some people will commit a crime in order to save 5 or 6 bucks!
  5. You said they were aftermarket. What brand are they?
  6. Hang in there our friend. We depend on your expertise here too.
  7. All of the motorcycle batteries I've bought in the past had to be charged for a day at 2 amps. Even the first AGM battery I bought which was a Walmart Everstart that was actually made by Yuasa. The acid came separately and it had to be added to the cells and charged for 24 hrs at 2 amps.
  8. It had been 2 or 3 weeks since I started my RSV and the battery was dead. I put my smart charger on it and it said it was at 0% capacity and 2 volts. I started charging it but decided I was beating a dead horse so I went to Autozone a half mile away and bought a new AGM battery for it for $102.99. I was surprised to find out that it was fully charged. Seems like I always had to charge them before. Installed it and it fired up. After running it for a few minutes, I checked the running voltage and it was 14.02 volts at idle an slightly more revved up. After shutting it down, I hooked up the smart charger just to make sure it was fully charged and according to the charger it had 13 volts and was 100% charged. Then I hooked up the pigtail for my Battery Tender and installed the missing rubber pad from partzilla on the seat. The seat rests on about 5 little rubber pads and one had been missing. And installed the new seat hold down nuts I had bought from partzilla. The seat had been held on by one wing nut. Wanted to go for a ride but it started raining. It's about 60 degrees today.
  9. I took a lot of Spam sandwiches to school for lunch when I was a kid in the 50's. My Mom would fry slices a bit to make the sandwiches. Dang, I'm old!
  10. Yeah, they sound great! Good sound without being obnoxious.
  11. If I remember correctly, Spam was one of the canned rations the military ate during WWII.
  12. Yep, the RSV trunk rack is rated for 10 lbs max load. My 07 RSV's trunk rack still has the sticker with the 10lb max load rating on it. The top to bottom "feet" on both sides of the rack are connected by a metal strip.
  13. I've read that marking the nut position to the pinion housing was a good way to retorque. I haven't had the pleasure yet on my 02 F150.
  14. Those vents don't tend to hold up well. It will be hard to find some for sale that are complete and working. My 89 has two perfect ones, but I ain't selling! Ha!
  15. What procedure did you use to retorque the pinion nut?
  16. Talk about no excess design margin!
  17. I remember now. The 4.2 is an excellent engine after the 97 and 98 editions.
  18. The additive is only about $6 I think, less than $10 for sure. I put valvoline 75/140 in my 9.75" rear diff without the additive because it says on the bottle it is to be used with traction lock or something to that. The traction lock was trying to lock up a little too soon but it didn't make any noise so I didn't go back an add the viscosity additive. Mine now has 152k miles on it. What engine does your truck have? If it is the 5.4, change the oil often. they are infamous for VCT problems.
  19. Many owners after installing progressive springs do not add any air to the front forks. Perhaps just a schrader valve for the rear (and front if preferred) is all that's needed.
  20. I read on a F150 forum that the only fuel injector cleaner recommended by Ford is Chevron Techron. Don't know much about diesels. Supposedly Seafoam is bad for the cats. And I would not ever put Seafoam in the engine oil.
  21. Yep, very important. That is why you have to be careful with a toy hauler. Adding weight to the usually rear of the trailer could induce dangerous sway. I was working with this engineer in FL. He thought he was a lot smarter than he was. Anyway, he hauled a load of household furnishings back to his IN home with a uhaul trailer and he was complaining about that terrible uhaul that would start swaying if he got above 55mph. I had to break the news to him that it was his fault by not putting enough weight on the tongue. Geez, I disliked that guy!
  22. Our current President said what he would do and he's doing it to the surprise of the deep swamp as much as the deep swamp will allow him. They are fighting him every inch of the way.
