  1. If it starts fine without the choke, it is probably set up too rich.
  2. Okay, you win! Just Stop it!
  3. A Ducati rider huh? Must be an Italian thing!
  4. Nah, you're wrong. Maroon is the fastest 1st Gen and blue is the fastest second gen and I have one of each!
  5. The carb sync being off is probably why you got such a great deal! Congratulations!
  6. In the photo, there appears to be plenty of asphalt on the shoulder to ride on. The temptation would be great!
  7. Every time I've ridden my RSV, I was wearing shorts and low cut shoes and I did feel some heat that was getting uncomfortable. But, I should not be riding dressed like that.
  8. It is labeled what I called it. If you go to Walmart and look, it will be obvious which one I'm talking about. I don't think there is any carb cleaner in a bottle that is intended to be added to the gas tank. Carbs have disappeared mostly. They are all injector cleaners. But, Gumout with PEA (polyetheramine) works great for cleaning the carbs as you ride. Lately I've noticed that many other injector cleaners have PEA on the label. Chevron Techron was the first one with PEA I think but they don't have it on the label.
  9. The 5w20 is too slick for motorcycle clutches. That is why the clutch feels snappier with 10w40. Use only JASO- MA oils in your motorcycle. It is speced for wet clutch motorcycles.
  10. Wow! That was a quick sale and for your price! Sort of amazing really! Congratulations!
  11. I use Gumout for high mileage engines with PEA. It's supposed to be a fuel injector cleaner but works great for carbs without harming anything. I use it in all of my engines and yard tools. If the carbs are really dirty, I use a whole bottle in one tank of gasoline.
  12. Really glad you didn't get hurt and congratulaitons on the wing. I'm sure you will love it.
  13. It will be interesting to find out what the highway mileage actually is on a long trip when the brakes aren't used that much.
  14. Does the new Goldwing have a DCT?
  15. Congratulations! I'm sure you will enjoy it!
  16. Congratulations on the purchase of the new Wing!
  17. The manual says 3.7 qts of oil is required if the filter isn't changed. 3.9 qts with oil filter change. 4.3 qts if the engine is dry. But the sight glass is the determining factor. With the bike upright, not on the sidestand, it should be mid-scale.
  18. Must have been your wild riding!
  19. Exercise, Exercise, Exericise! Exercise helps at any age. I don't want to exercise and it's hard to make myself exercise but I like the results. It doesn't take a lot to maintain or even gain strength. At 74, if I didn't exercise, I'd lose my strength quickly.
  20. I've noticed on my 89 venture and my Kawasaki ZN700 that when they are idling poorly at low rpm they make a knocking sound. I'm fairly sure it's caused by the timing chain.
  21. It looks pretty good in the photos, but the smoking even after warmup, and the fact that the two previous owners passed it on rather than repair it does make me wonder.
  22. Campers use colored lights at the camp site at night. Supposedly colored lights don't attract bugs.
  23. In 2003, a coworker who was a 40 yr. old bachelor engineer owned a small airplane. He said it cost him about $10k per year in O&M. But, he also said that its worth had gone up tremendously since he bought it. One of his girl friends wanted to get her pilot's license so he trained her (for free of course) and then she dumped him!
  24. Yeah, gravel and big heavy motorcycles don't mix well. I almost dropped my 07 when I ran out of gas and stopped at the entrance of a gravel driveway. Perhaps a member will have something for you. Ebay is the most likely place to visit I would presume. Or call Pinwall. They are constantly parting out bikes.
