If they sit for much more than a week, the carbs are partially gummed up. If you drain the carbs when you leave it, that may not happen. I put a whole bottle of Gumout for high mileage engines with PEA in a tank and run it a while and let it sit overnight and run it again. That clears it up for me.

My "smart" battery charger bought at Walmart for about $30 or more does have an AGM setting.

I was stationed in South Korea at an Army missile site when the first Woodstock happened. I was working when the second one happened but my son went. Mk2s have linked brakes and are totally different from a Gen 2. Gen 2s do not have linked brakes and the rear brake is very powerful.

Check your meter with a known source such as a 12 volt battery. If the meter is correct the new R/R is bad.

I think the HH pads are metallic, not semi-metallic and they will wear out the rotor fastest. The organic pads sound like a good idea to me for the rear of a RSV due to the strong performance of the rear brake.

Quite a while ago, I bought a CD off ebay for about $12 that has the 1st Gen, 2nd Gen and many, many other Yamaha models manuals on it. So, look on ebay occasionally would be my suggestion.

The right side kitchen sink drain was almost plugged. I poured lots of crystal Drano in it with little change. I got a small flexible steel cable from the garage and attempted to ram it down the goose neck but it wasn't flexible enough. So, I got out the tools to remove the goose neck to manually clean it out. Then my wife says why don't you use the toilet plunger. I did and it pushed the clog out. I need to keep her around I guess to supplement my retarded repair skills!

I have to pull the clutch lever in all the way to get the clutch to disengage. Is that normal for the 2nd Gens? Also, I went for a ride yesterday on my Kawasaki to wash the carbs and then I went for a ride on my RSV. When I pulled in the clutch lever and put it in 1st gear, the engine died. So, I checked the clutch MC for fluid and it was low. I had checked it a while back and the reservoir was overfilled so I have a leak. After filling the MC, the clutch worked and I went for a ride. I've owned 3 bikes with a hydraulic clutch and all 3 have had leaking slave cylinders when I bought them....

I googled and found out that Yamaha made wood plane propellers and fuel tanks for airplanes during the war. Those small spotter planes the USA used during the war also used wood propellers as I understand.

Mitsubishi made the Zero fighter planes and Kawasaki made the submarines during WWII. I wonder what Yamaha made?

A compression test would be interesting. If the compression is down on the cylinder that had gasoline in it, that would indicated the rod bent a little.

My thoughts on buying that bike is, Is it the type of bike that you really want? If so, and you can afford it, the dealer might talk turkey if he knows you are serious. If you want a bike like that, you won't find a better example than a "new" bike. It's a heckuva lot different from a Venture with its vibrating v-twin and different hp/torque curves.

That information is very interesting and I don't doubt it. But, currently you can order either of two clutch baskets. The "old" part number 26H-16150-10-00 $256.90 costs less than the "new" part number 4XY-16150-09-00 $308.09. If you look up the clutch basket on partzilla, you will find the 26H-16150-10-00 part listed for all years, 99 to 2013. I talked to someone at partzilla and I was told they could order either one and both had to come from Japan. He also said that the 4XY-16150-09-00 part number was not listed as a replacement part for the old part number. So far, I have not been able to find out why the new part number is available and what it if anything is supposed to do for you. One could assume that it was designed to eliminate the whine but nobody I've talked to can say that. I also called bike bandit and asked about the new part number. They told me that the new part was supposed to be a replacement part. Soooo ?????????????????

Yeah, we've had this discussion before on the forum. I think Freebird was the last person to say that he wouldn't shell out the bucks for the new basket not knowing for sure it was an "i" basket. Freebird solved his clutch whine problem by selling his RSV and buying the new 2018 Super Duper Venture. I researched the forums about the clutch whine a while back and I found one thread where the RSV owner said he found out exactly how to get rid of the clutch basket whine. 1. Switch brands and viscosity of oil. 2. Purchase i basket and replace the original. 3. Trade the RSV on a Goldwing!!!!
