Check my stats. If I can't kill a thread with just one post I have been known to dog it till it's done. This thread serves no useful purpose and has become offensive anyway.

I tend to agree Jonathan. But...... Maybe vices should be legalized and taxed and the taxes applied toward educational efforts to help get people to resist becoming habitual users, or even never to try anything. That is what the worry is after all, that if the drugs were all legal then more people with a drug problem would appear and it can't be guaranteed that it won't happen that way. Look at Krocodil in Russia. Everyone knows someone whose body parts are dropping off but yet somehow new people are starting on their own personal tour of hell everyday. Crack may never have been synthesized but meth has been around since 1893 and was once more or less widely available. Cocaine was first extracted from coca in 1859 and synthesized in 1898. One mistake that does occur when government legalizes a substance in order to combat the criminal trade in that substance is to cause a higher pricing structure for the version that is available through legal channels. This allows for profits to still be obtained from the illegal trafficking, which become more difficult to police because of the legal version. This is a mistake that Colorado is currently making by having set the price for sale of legal marijuana as high as it is. There is plenty of incentive still for illegal providers to stay in business selling at bargain rates.

I don't know if they will work any better but why pay the Apple premium? Unless you're one of those "Apple Lifestyle" types.......

So,, speaking about old bikes,, anybody ever ride a..
syscrusher replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
The Barber Museum is definitely a great place to go. I read that to accommodate police who wanted to be able to shoot at the crooks they were chasing while laying on the throttle some of the throttles on early Indians were on the left side. So you would advance the spark with your right hand, brake with right foot and hand, shift with right hand, twist throttle with left hand, clutch/declutch with left foot. Of course there is this very interesting article about old control systems for motorcycles that says the whole "riding and shooting" thing is all a myth: http://occhiolungo.wordpress.com/2010/05/02/riding-an-early-bike-1-myths-about-indians-and-guns/ -
Does anyone have a Gen 1 cassette door to sell?
syscrusher replied to syscrusher's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks Bob, I got your PM and left you my address. Of course I'll publish the details when I get started on the project. -
This is the flip-to-the-side cassette door that the Gen 1s have. I plan to very possibly ruin mine working on a project and wanted to get a spare in case I don't like my results. My rubber seals aren't the best anyway. I'm willing to pay some reasonable amount to get a spare.

I didn't really consider that a country song and I never did have too much fun. "Too much fun, that's news to me..... Too much fun, something I've got to see..... Not a whole lot of things that I never done, but.... I never did have too much fun!"

Info needed fork seals
syscrusher replied to kentuckyrider's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=81110 I did order dust seals for one of the older Gen 1s but have not yet installed them. I don't see why they wouldn't work. If my "booties" wear out I will go to the aftermarket to get something similar. I plan to use both dust seals and "booties" going forward. -
I haven't done the operation yet but the new design seems to offer less leverage than the old, does that make a difference? How much will one cost?

Stop means wasting fuel. Any fool can verify safe conditions to roll through a stop at 5 or 10 mph, especially in low traffic areas. It would be far more efficient, and to the betterment of society, to allow so-called "California Stops", but that would mean that funds wouldn't be collected for these petty infractions.

Oh, the 700, well in that case you made a fabulous trade. Yeah the 1200s made 120 HP or so in a 540lb. bike and that sounds like a fun little machine for the price they bring now. For just the 700 your Harley trade is really remarkable!

That was a really nice looking Madura. I was kindof looking at that and the Magna when I decided that the VR was more practical. Funny thing about the Magna is that except for the engine it looks almost exactly like the 83 Shadow 500 I once owned........... Sorry Puc, I would have rather had the Madura.

You just go down the list in the attachment dialog, one photo for each opportunity provided on the dialog, should be eight or nine lines. On you iPad you may try llloooooonnnnngggggg pressing to get a right click type menu to popup.

That looks like it could suck really bad if you hit something riding that! Hey, when you first upload your picture to be guessed, once the upload is done you can link it and it will create a larger inline view. 1. Right click on the name in the Upload dialog box and select "Copy Location" or something to that effect. 2. Left click within your post where it would be good for the photo to display. 3. Left click the "yellow square icon with mountains and sun in upper right" and then paste your link in the box by doing or right click and select paste, etc. You'll get a larger size view of the photo embedded in your post, but it'll be a little easier to guess.

And $50 sounds pretty cheap to fix the PC if that'll work. I'd use the Passmark website to gauge CPU and even built system performance in buying a new box. There's huge differences in the same series of CPUs and also big differences once a CPU is put into a system. That's if you want to be fast. You can handle fast, can't you? Try Newegg.

OK, so it was 35 today and the mods work just fine except the washers I put under the blue connectors seem a little too thick and need to come back out. I also need to really get at the connector that is on the bike side in the radio mounting to fix that pin that pushes in. Does anyone know how much stuff has to come out before I can get those connectors free of the bike? Also does anyone know where to find a pinout of the large Molex connector just under the radio mount in the left side of the fairing? As always, thanks in advance for your help.

Which one? -
It just takes me far too much time. I'm a spectator now.

He was usually absolutely clean sounding and clear without any flaws but I saw him perform once on the Tonight Show when he explained that he had been on vacation for several weeks and hadn't played guitar. He tried to give his standard smooth performance but it showed that he was off a little. Still it tended to give me even more of an appreciation for what a talent Roy has.

That VT500 brings back memories. The blue frame is an interesting touch. Mine started as red and I painted the tank and rear fender a similar color of blue. I also masked off the edges of the side cover and painted the center sections blue. Sometime I'll look for a digital picture of it and post it here. I hope you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of your VR.

I modified this document that another member developed in order to show how I had wired my switch, plug, and cables. I would like it to be available full size but I am not sure how to do that. Any help with that? It was documented in another article that the cassette inputs are active when the connection between pins 6 & 7 of cassette cable are open so I used the fourth pole of my switch (4PDT) and wired the 12v signal to the common and "cassette enable" to the corresponding pin on the opposite bank from those used for my 3.5mm plug. It's 35 degrees out so I'm going to chuck it into the bike and see if it works.
