The only one I ever had or will started tearing at end of tread grooves. Every place there was an inlaid point or on some just plain inlaid corners it started to separate. I'm not chancing it again. I'd really hate having my front tire come apart on me when it wasn't even showing wear.

My answer would be yes, plug em. Some people have put Schrader valves on the forks so they can be pressurized manually but the forks are designed to have air pressure. You could also use a remote canister connected to your existing lines. That would probably even be easier since it would balance between the two forks automatically, unless one of them leaked.

OK, finally ready to put this mod up for others to use. To understand where I'm starting from take a look at this link. Click on the thread link to start at this post. I tried to make it so that I could go back by gluing things back together but now I doubt it. My radio went nuts too much of the time and the PRV175 only cost me $110 shipped so PRV175 I had a switch that would change between a 3.5mm plug and the built-in radio. Either way it was using the built-in amplifier which worked fine. The middle row of my 4PDT switch was wired to the existing cable for the cassette player, to get the low-level output of the PRV I soldered a standard RCA audio cable to the side of the switch that was basically unused. Red is Right. Since you're no longer switching on the radio though you need to remove the +12v between pins 6 & 7 of the old cassette cable that would have been enabled when flipping the switch to the side that you will wire the PRV low-level output to. If you don't it will tell the built-in Venture amp to use the old built-in radio as input and you won't hear the PRV at all. These pictures have captions on them to let you know what's going on. I hope you can read them.

Noise on PRV175 coming from HID Ballast
syscrusher replied to syscrusher's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
So the noise I'm hearing is an amp that isn't getting enough supply voltage to run as designed? It makes sense to me and you're probably right about the noise being difficult to hear when it's running. So there is no real fix for it. It does seem to be less related to the HID, which is low current draw, than it is to the brake light. -
Noise on PRV175 coming from HID Ballast
syscrusher replied to syscrusher's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
In the garage after a ride I killed it by putting down kickstand while in gear and I could hear the noise a little. I could hear the noise after turning off the PRV too which means that the noise is coming over the bike's amplifier alone. What's freaky (to me) is that the noise was way worse if I squeezed the front brake lever (turning on the brake light). -
With the light on and the motor off the noise is far worse on low than on high. With my H4 HID bulb there is a second ordinary halogen for the high beam. This is not terrible since the motor noise washes out the sound when actually riding but I'd like to minimize it if I can. Does anyone have any insight into this sort of thing, I mean does my PRV need a tinfoil hat or should I expect that the HID has imposed a signal onto the power supply? Also, I can confirm that the PRV175 does not save pairing info for the last device it was connected with. Typically I start the motor turn on the PRV (JBL button) and then take my phone out and find the PRV in my BT list and select it. The phone will then attempt to connect to the PRV but then the PRV will try to pair with the phone. I get a dialog on the phone and click OK and I can stream BT to the PRV until I shut off the bike again. I would like it to be more automagical but this is the way it is. It makes no difference if power is still available to the PRV, when you turn it off (JBL button) it loses the pairing info.

sparks per revolution: RPM mystery
syscrusher replied to tz89's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I don't know how sensitive the pulse detection amplifier would need to be but several digital tach versions from Trail Tech just require an insulated wire to be wrapped around an ignition wire 3-5 times. -
You may not know what I'm talking about if you didn't ride bicycles at some point but are these like the foam tubes that you would slide over your handlebar instead of wrapping them with cork tape?

Well it got as high as 55 today here. My windchill calculator said that 49 degrees at 75 mph feels like 37 degrees and I just didn't want to ride at 37 degrees for 4 hours one way so I didn't go. In January it would be different because 37 degrees is warm then but not just yet.

I'm guessing you must have been quite a bit handsomer or something? Congrats!

What do they typically do on a "rest day"? I see that this Saturday is a rest day in Junction City, KS. I'm sort of thinking about going there.

I don't know for sure but a lot of people here seem to like using seafoam.

My GF's brother-in-law just had back surgery in August and he's now feeling so much better. He's back to smoking big chunks of meat over the Labor Day holiday and getting around very well. He had vertebra fused and a couple titanium rods inserted to keep that portion from moving. It sounds like your surgery will be quite a bit less radical than that. Your doctors must think that you can get good results without such radical surgery. I'd expect that they're right and you should be fine. If not there's lot's more that can be done. Don't worry, be happy.

I like my volume knob and my noise sensitive boost so I kept them. Look for a write up sometime later in the 1st Gen section.

That kid was slobbering drunk and had made a stop along the interstate at a store trying to buy even more alcohol. Those who saw him there share some blame for not trying to prevent him from driving or at least calling the State Patrol immediately. You saw the part where his lawyer thought the crash could have been pinned on the road construction, I'm sure glad that didn't fly. Anyone who cannot see a motorcycle also can't see a kid on a bicycle. That person is a dangerous killer on the road, even if they are your wife, your son , or daughter. Cagers need to be as hyper aware of motorcyclists as we are of them. Motorcyclists and the kids on bikes, the kids darting out from behind parked cars, etc. AND if they can't handle it then they shouldn't be allowed to drive. It's simply not alright to kill someone because you didn't see them, you killed them nonetheless and doing so carries an unpleasant punishment. I'm not sure what can be done about LEO who don't write tickets. I suppose it can be taken up with the Mayor or Chief of Police. The County Attorney can be reached as well.
