Bridge is OK. A small flash flood this morning took the bus shed out. It hit the bridge and moved it a couple inches but never hurt it. Forecast for Friday & Saturday HEAVY RAIN.

We were lucky our water reached a high level but no flood. The surrounding counties got flood warnings. Anyway our local Maint crew from the school system came out to remove the bus house but could not find it. So we had to contact them again.We will see if they have better luck tomorrow. Here are directions to the bus house. Go to bus stop location. Walk 3 feet east toward creek. Look down!

My DSL download speed has always been about 1200 kbs for years.Last month it jumped to 2600 kbs. Frontier must have done a upgrade somewhere.I'm lucky to have it. Were 12 miles from the CO.I just renewed my contract for another year.:cool10:

That old bridge gets taken out about every 10 years. It sets 6 ft above the creek. It's part of an old oil derek with a treated lumber floor.I have it unsecured just setting on a welded pipe forum secured by concrete foundations. The last 2 times it was taken out a local logger sets it back up with his cherry picker. All we have to do is skid it out of the hole of water below and rebuild the wooden floor. Nothing $400 in treated wood won't fix and a case of beer for the logger.That stream gets very swift when it foods thats why I don't want to secure it to the foundation and risk damaging it.Here is a picture Ramona took standing on the bridge looking at a washed out log below.

I worked for 2 hours this evening rerouting the stream behind the house. The culvert is completely plugged and covered. The last flood I had a foot of water under my house from the hillside run off.Recently water has been flowing into the back yard and pooling where my septic field is.I took the FEL and cut a 4 ft wide channel across the dirt road and back into the original stream path. Were anticipating 2 inches of rain over the next day or so and the ground is saturated now.That private drive behind my house is no longer maintained by anyone and the road is a real mess. A two foot deep channel has been bringing the run off my way for almost a year. My neighbor stopped by after I was done and said you know your loosing your foot bridge tonight. It seems the neighborhood A$$#%#@^ pushed a 7ft wooden school bus shed over the hill into the creek just above my bridge last night.So tonight when the flood comes we may loose the foot bridge. Last time it was taken out a upstream chicken house done it. Guess we will see what happens in the morning. This much I know NO RIDING ANYTIME SOON.

I'm going to buy a 10x14 metal building for now.Two first gens will fit in there nicely. The building will be installed on 4x4 wooden skids. That way I can relocate it to the back lot later for a ATV,Chainsaw,etc storage building. Then a permanent bigger garage can go there .Forecast for next 3 days is rain. I told Ramona we may take her truck to Maint Day.

Soon as I buy the loader pallet attach I can lift and carry scoot across the creek.

Good help is hard to find. I finally found a partner to help clean up the property. He will work all day and still beg for more. Rarely takes a sick day and works for a six pack of diesel. Pictures later.

:95:It's plan and simple folks. This is b/s and getting old fast. I'm still waiting for the first ride of the year. 3 or 4 days of rain coming and that creek is still up. I'm not sure if I can get the scoot out to make maint day if this keeps up. I'm calling Lowes to day to get a price on materials for a 12x16 shed to build at the camp. If I'm going to load the scoots up on the 16 ft trailer and haul them out it will only be one time. Any body else still waiting on the first ride of the year with the AC running?Might have a free camping spot for a shed raising party.

Geothermal contractor says 3 wells 140 ft deep and 12 ft apart will do it. He also does the water wells. That geothermal sounds like the way to go.

It just doesn't feel right. Down deep inside my gut says No not now. We talked last night and Ramona agrees to wait and put up a shell.For now were going to proceed with a septic system and water well. I may temp plumb both into the old camp house for a few years until the time and finances are right. A lot of landscaping to do to finish my plans.Plenty to do on the weekends and last night was great. We grilled out and sat around by the campfire. Life is still good and I have retired carpenters who work cheap just for something to do so we will get her done in time.

Yep a credit card is the safest way to make a transaction.They monitor your transaction for suspected theft. Thats why you may have to enter your zip code or other info while traveling. For everything else we carry Identity theft protection.

I use the Rotella full synthetic in all my Bikes,Atv's,Lawn tractors,etc with no problems. The wife runs mobile 1 full synthetic in her pickup and my pickup gets Amsoil. There all good.

I'm not sold yet.It would be easy to sign on the bottom line and go but don't forget somebody has to pay for it.I know one thing my days of buying a new vehicles every 3-4 years is over.I'll just build a new house and ride a first gen forever. I have a meeting with a water well driller and a geothermal heat pump specialist Saturday for their quotes.The foundation contractor is preparing a quote now and the building contractor has yet to schedule with me.Like I said I'm going to put the numbers together and take a look.I still have 2 years left on my land contract before I must borrow and build or pay him in full to honor the terms of our agreement.In 2 years the cost to build may go up and interest rates to but by then this recession may be over.I would like to cut cost and do as much myself as possible but my time is limited.We will build something there eventually but what and how soon is a good question?There is a good possibility we may loose our Health care Insurance real soon and that weights in on the finances.Seems the provider wants another 30% raise of premium for another year.Our deductible was raised to $5000 per family member last year just to keep it affordable. Now it is still going up.

First off thanks to randy and laura for meeting us for supper in bristol on Good Friday. We had a nice evening with friends.Ramona and I meet with a log home mfg and viewed our dream retirement home.We were very impressed with the quality and hand hewn work.I called one of my banks up and was surprised that they financed new construction building with land.Now the hard part. I have thought all week while on vacation about all the reasons I should not do this (recession,job security,and being 50 years old with a mortgage starting).On the other hand (interest rates are low,we want to move,and besides our property is a good investment and a new home will grow in value).I don't know of any more prime real estate being mfg.People are building on the hillsides now and where ever they can find land.I thought about saving enough money to put a shell up under roof then finishing it little by little with cash but that would take about 10 years. I would have less time to enjoy it and my 10 year old son wouldn't get a chance to grow up there and enjoy fishing,swimming,the ball field, and all the other things lake front property has to offer.I have a meeting with several contractors to put together a turn key job and we will look at those numbers.I'm sure we will be shocked at the bottom line but 20 years from now those same numbers will be like small change.I may have to sell a few assets like a first gen or two.

I scheduled vacation 4 months in advance for this. 3 days of rain coming.I don't need that throne weight loss program.
