  1. Jeannie will be coming HOME early next week. the Dr.s on her team, have determined that her heart is TOO weak and fragile, to undergo any type of surgery. she told the social worker, when asked about a nursing home:"hell no! i know what you people will do.you get me in there, then won't let me out, and then the next thing i know, you'll take my house!" at any rate, she will be here, with me, until her time gets short, then they will send out "hospice people" to keep her comfortable, 'till, her time runs out. and now , words fail me. i can't thank ALL of you enough for the support and prayers. just jt
  2. If you are heading to the Texas Hill Country, you might want to consider the Whitten Inn in Kerrville for a place to stay - couldn't get more biker friendly than this place! Their normal rack rate for a double is $80, but if you are on a motorcycle, the rate is $60. And if you are smart enough to stop at any Texas visitor center first and look in the travel coupon book, you just might find a coupon for them at $50! When you check in, they give you a free beer, and they have a bike wash station and wipe-down rags available. The rooms do show some wear, but they are clean and in reasonable repair. The rest of the place looks pretty decent too. Goose

  4. Hey Guys/Gals: Thought I would post this so if any one else has this problem I might help. Purchased from Custom Dynamics LED boards to replace both the front and rear turn signals on an 05 RSV. Also purchased a 4 amp load equalizer from them as well (turned out to be a Kuryakyn 4807 load equalizer). Changed out the bulbs on the left side placed the load equalizer on the rear harness, turned on the key to "ON" and the blink rate was fast, went to the local shop and got a 2 amp and wired it in to the front harness. Still no change in the blink rate. Wrote to Kuryakyn for help. Since the fairing was split and the seat off I decided to move the bike to the side of my garage. Started the bike up and for the "hell of it" hit the directional signal switch, damn if they didn't blink at the normal rate. Go figure!!!!!!! So if any of you have replaced your lights with LED's and fine the blink rate fast added a load equalizer and it is still fast, kick the bike over, they may slow down. Figured I would give you this piece of advice so others will not have go through the same thing as I did. BTW 116 & 1157 have a 2amp draw, so a 2amp load equalizer on both harnesses should do the trick. Sponge Bob Tucson AZ It's a dry heat.
  5. Progressvie Insurance Company has never been comepetetive on the 2nd gen venture. When they recently notified me that they were having a rate revision that was a 5% reduction I got excited but that excitement changed to disappointment very quickly. When I purchased my 05 RSV in 2005 progessive's rate was over $900.00 per year so I placed my coverage with another company at $502.00 per year. I am carrying 100/300/50 liability, 100/300/50 uninsured motorist, 10,000 medical payments, 250 deductible on comprehensive and collision and roadside assistance. After the 5% rate reduction my rate for this coverage with progressive would be $1,658.00 per year. I called progressive and told them this was not a rate reduction. I also quoted an 08 Ultra Classic anniversary edition and before the reduction the annual rate was $528.00 per year but after the revision it is over $900.00 per year. The product manager in the home office asked me to fax several recent quotes I had done to her, yes it is a female, and she would get back with me. I faxed the quotes and when I went to the international motorcyle show in Atlanta she, the product manager, was there. She said progressive had been losing money on the touring bike line and increased the rates for touring bikes but lowered the rates on other bikes. There are two things companies look at when determining rates and these are the loss frequency and loss severity. She said both of these had increased on touring bikes. She also said that before the revision they had all the harleys in one catagory but were seperating the touring bikes and increasing rates but were lowering rates on the fatboy and softails. I was surprised because I would have thought the touring bikes would have had the lowest losses because normally you have mature riders that aren't hot rodding there bikes but this is not the case. Anyway I re wrote my coveage with another company at renewal on February 17 for $409.00 per year. If any of you in Georgia are insured with progressive get ready for a rate increase. If you would like to see what other company's rates are let me know and I will be glad to quote you with the top seven companies in Georgia.

  7. Hi folks, I just have to share my experience with you all. I'm just a little po'd. I posted it on the Goldwing site too. I just bought a 2008 Airbag Titanium. I called Progressive at the dealer to have them swap the 2005 RSTD with the GW. They said that would be $150.00 difference. After that I thought my policy is 1/2 up and that is the balance to the renewal period. Well yesterday I got this mail that said my new rate would be in excess of $1100 for my 08 Concours and this 08 Goldwing. Dang, that just didn't seem right. Read a little further and it states that my rate is high due to 4 credit strokes and that my wife had gotten credit when she was So, I saved money for my daughter to buy her a car in her 12th grade year. I did that October 1st. Fully loaded Nissan and ended up paying cash -- after I checked what the lowest rate was from both the Nissan dealer and my credit union ... ~ 5.5%. About a week later my wife gets the new car bug and wants to trade off her 20 month old 06 Honda Civic. We do that and again check rates at the dealer and the credit union -- since the Fed had made some adjustments recently wondered if it had any impact, plus the dealer was really close to the credit union rate and wanted to edge a little more out of the credit union. On her car we had trade equity plus threw another 10K cash on the purchase. Now, I had a trade for the GW and paid the difference in cash as well. Very fortunate to be able to do so, but not without a lot of planning and time. So, I shopped for rates, have stellar credit, had my credit hard stoked 4 or more times in the last 24 months, ended up paying cash for most things and somehow my wife establishing credit at an early age is a bad thing. In escalating the issue I talked with the big dogs and they said more or less that their analysis shows that people with those characteristics (4 strokes and credit at a "young" age) file more claims than others...and I just admitted to the behavior. Go figure. Looks like the housing slump and the lack of trust in credit scores has moved into the creativity realm. I'm thinking class action lawsuit against scums like this. If you are a lawyer or know a good one -- talk to them. I'm sure there is some money to be made with this crap.
  8. Came across this and since it's something that gets "under my skin" from time to time, thought I'd bring it up just to see what others do and think about it. http://travel.sympatico.msn.ca/Travelling+Heres+when+to+tip++and+how+much/TravelFeatures/ContentPosting.aspx?isfa=1&newsitemid=237015&feedname=TRANS-HOMEMAKERS&show=False&number=0&showbyline=True&subtitle=&detect=&abc=abc Personally, I believe in tipping when I get good service. I don't believe that I should tip "just because". People get hired to do a job at a specific rate of pay. "Just because" they work in a restaurant does not mean that they are entitled to a tip irregardless of how they go about serving me. At least around here, their rate of pay is about the same as people in other businesses...do they get a tip?... not...yet they may well still be in a service-related industry!
  9. Well folks, it is that time of the year again. I'll be flying out of here around 10:00 to Minnesota and then driving to the company resort in Wisconsin for our semi-annual sales meeting. The good news is that I was told last week that they had installed high speed wireless Internet at the resort so HOPEFULLY I won't be out of touch for a week as I usually am. At any rate, will be in meetings until heading back home on Friday but should be able to check in here in the evenings and early mornings.
  10. I posted earlier, not the battery for sure. As my 99 Venture gets hot the charging rate falls. Will start charging at 14.2 charge rate to battery. As it heats up, after 30 minutes the rate falls to 12 or less. Battery reaches discharge after 3-4 hrs. I cleaned terminals at black plastic harness to Rectifier. I don't just want to replace rectifier without identifying problem. Any ideas?
  11. Still chasing ghosts here. While I sit and wait on new bearings, I can't help but wonder about other things. It's become an obsession that is driving me bonkers. On the first gens, specifically the '87, what is the frequency of failure of the middle drive gear and/or its components? While I'm hoping that replacing the bearings and greasing eveything up real good will solve my issues, I keep overthinking any other possible causes of my noise. I know it's in the drivetrain, just not sure where. If the failure rate of the middle gear is very low, I'll quit worrying about it so much and possibly sleep tonight. Ed
  12. I stoped at a local yamaha dealer to see what the cost of a oil change was he said $80. Is that the going rate? I did change it my self for about $15.
  13. Can anyone help me with this? I've replaced my rear turn signals with LED clusters & installed a load equalizer to correct the flash rate. Yesterday I replaced the front running/turn lights with LED clusters as well, but after installing another load equalizer to keep the flash rate correct, the flash rate is double what it should be. Is there a specific location I need to put the load equalizer? Does it need to be somewhere inside the fairing? The first one is on the rear side of the harness under the seat. I put the other one on the other side of the harness, but it doesn't work there. I'm obviously not putting it in the right place. Any help with solving this is deeply appreciated. Thanks.
