    LED driving lights

I dont expect them to light up a dark road but maybe they will help get you noticed by the cagers. Nice thing about these, is that they wont over-tax your charging system. They are a bit spendy though. They have several different models, and colors, and the smaller bullet shaped red ones look like a good fit for a trailer. TIA.
  2. Here are a couple of pics of my pain. At first i thought i might get away with only having to replace the right side fairing, but after closer inspection of the left there was a huge chunk of plastic missing, as well as the mounting tabs. The worst part came after removing all of the broken fairing, noticed that ,i'm not sure what they are called but the whole upper metal cage? is bent and twisted. and in need of replacement as well.
  3. Hey Guys, Well, it wasn't 2 days I'd had the new bike home and it started marking its territory with a few drops of green. A little investigation showed the thermostat housing to be the culprit. Now, I'd bought it at a shop where it had been kept nice and warm, whereas I only have cold storage, and of course, it had been around 10 degrees when I noticed this. I was wondering if this is something I might be able to expect as it looks like the housing is plastic, or am I gonna have to go in after it? If I have to go in, the manual that I downloaded seems to be a bit vague, how the heck do I get to it? They made that a little tight.

This is Cindy.... . just put the leveling links on Dales bike and after he took it off the lift I noticed fluid....antifreeze I believe...... here are 2 picks showing where the leak is ..........any ideas????????   5. I have noticed some oil on the left side of the rear wheel and tire of my 03 Venture after a long ride of say 50 + miles. I noticed it for the first time about a month ago and thought it was just road oil and washed if off. After a ride this past Sunday I noticed it again and now I’m sure it’s an oil leak on the final drive. I stopped by the local dealer yesterday and asked them to check with Mama Yama to see if they would cover the repair under warranty since I first noticed the problem last month (my warranty was up the 19 of this month). If they don’t cover it I will do the repair myself. I am thinking that it’s the oil seal which is just behind the bearing housing on the final drive. What do you folks think? Has any one else had an oil leak here and if so do you have any suggestions on the replacement of the oil seal? I’m thinking it’s a straight forward repair with no hidden issues. Thanks for your input. I’m hoping that Yamaha will pay for it but I want to be prepared to do it myself just in case. If I end up doing the repair myself I’m going to take pictures and do a work up on the repair for the site so the next person will have a tech article to follow.
  6. Any recommendations where I can buy a front Dunlop Elite II online, from a place where they haven't been sitting around for years on the shelf? I put new Elite II's on last year & just getting ready for another trip & noticed a small cut in the sidewall...I don't "think" it's a big deal, but better safe than sorry... Thanks in advance for any suggestions...JR
  7. Yesterday as first time on the second year I have the bike, I noticed that there was some oily cover on the area of the rear fender close to the plate holder. Is the rubber hose that is on the area comming from the engine or some other part? I never noticed that before, but is this a meaning the the engine is sending oil out? or this is normal for the bikes? Thanks for any opinions, :detective:

    thicker grips

    Do any of you have a bigger after market grip on your bike? The other day, I rode this guys bike (to take to his Wedding) and I noticed that the grips felt Really good. No hand fatigue. I'm interested in something with more Diameter. Anyone?
  9. Attached are some pics of the new Venom X I mounted on the front of the '83VR a few months ago. I rode it lightly around town, and then about 750miles over a 4 day weekend at VWIII. I noticed a clunk when apply the front brake and while inspecting the caliper, play, and such, I ran into this on the side walls on the tire. I'd Venture to say there's about 1000miles on it since new. In Avon's defense the front tire pressure was about 10 pounds low when checked in Susanville, and I did ride it pretty hard while running up Hwy 395 after friday's group ride. Stopped for gas with Steve (hdhtr) and got a little carried away trying to catch up with the pack. My question is #1 can i expect this after running a tire low on pressure at high speeds.. 90+ in a couple of areas and #2 should I replace the tire or will it hold up?? I also noticed that on the sidewall the tire inflation should have been 50psi instead of the 40psi I thought was enuff. And should I just go ahead and bite the bullet and pick up a replacement?? Whatcha think???
  10. Hey everyone, Just took the Venture (83) up to West Va to ride in the mountains for the weekend. We did 1200 miles in three days!!!! It was the first over 100 mile trip that I have had the bike on. I noticed that around 80 MPH I would get a wobble that felt like the bike was flexing in the middle. The other way I could describe it was that feeling when you hit a rut in the road. Letting off the throttle would bring it back into control. I also noticed that it would do it on the mountain switchbacks around 65 MPH. I checked the front axel, brace and tire pressure (40 psi). I checked the rear axel, swingarm, shock pressue (35psi) and tire pressure (40 psi). Ichanged the dampining adjuster to "2". Now it seemed to get more tolerable after all this. I have not checked the front shock air pressure due to the fact that the line is still hooked up to the Class compressor. The rear line has been removed and fitted with a shrader valve. Could the lack of air in the front forks cause this? If so what should the pressure be in the front and rear shocks? Sorry about the long post. Thanks Ron B
