  1. no, that's not quarter mile times. If I had been about a second quicker getting to a low visability intersection in my neighborhood, I would have been T-boned in the right side. About three blocks from my house this morning, I was coming over a slight hill and caught sight of a car coming up to a stop sign that was going to fast to get stopped in time. I layed on the brakes and airhorns. When the woman came to a stop, her front end was about a foot from the yellow centerline. She was blocking my lane completely. I got stopped a couple feet before I contacted her front bumper. As we were sitting in the intersection with her not moving, I looked in the car and it was two young Mexican looking women and they were still not looking at me. They were gesturing at each other like they were trying to figure out which way to turn. We never did make eye contact with me staring straight at them. I decided that the best thing for me to do was to do a sharp left and ease around the front of their car. I would have sat there if it had not been for me being concerned about someone coming across the hill and rearending me. We have had a big problem for awhile now with Mexicans driving without a license and any insurance. It is a routine thing to look in the daily police records in the paper and see Mexican sounding names getting charged with DUI. no license or insurance. I have aready increased my uninsured motorist coverage, but I doubt if it is enough. What's worse is this situation is constantly getting worse, not better and I don't feel there is anything we can do about it. RandyA
  2. Can't let him out by himself he ends up buying stuff. He got a good deal on this so I let him have it. Now he wants me to get my license so he can nap while we travel. I can't see him sleeping while I ride, he can't do it in a car. Margaret
  3. Has anyone installed a curved license plate holder on a RSTD? I saw a 2006 with one installed on it but I'm not sure of the correct Kuryakyn number. KY-9198?? Sorry if there's already a thread on this... I couldn't find one using the search engine....
  4. Went in to the DMV in FL today to get the motorcycle endorsement on my license. I dropped it when moved here and had to get my license changed. I had a CDL and had endorsements and they were making a mess of it, so I did not notice the motorcycle endorsement had been dropped. I had sold my bike before I moved so just shrugged it off and told myself I would just add it back later. Well, I found out by reading their booklet that effective July 1, 2008, the state is getting out of the motorcycle driver's license business altogether, except for the actual issuance. From 7/1/08, you have to attend a privately run motorcycle driver's course(at any fee they choose to charge), they will do all the testing(written/practical) and give you a certificate. You take it to the DMV and for $15(up from $5), they will put the endorsement on your license. Cheapest I found was $185. So, not counting the gas/lunch money for the class, your license now runs you $200. Pretty good jump from $5. I also see some parallels to the privatization of the smog krap Calif had where friends of the shop got it for free or reduced, some passed that shouldn't, etc. Oh, and they only do the test on Wed and it is booked, so that finshes the month.

    OK - who are you?

Blue Knights had a meet in W Va this weekend over near blackwater falls. Saw a silver 2nd Gen and thought for sure it was Skid - but - the license plate was from Delaware. Who are you?
  6. I pulled the rear light bar off the 83/84/86, and the license plate bracket had been removed many years ago. Anyone have an 83-85 Mark I bracket laying around I could buy off them??
  7. I am wanting to add some additional lights to the rear of my 05' RSTD. I saw the thread on the Harley license plate light kit for the RSV. Can anybody tell me it this mod will work for my RSTD? Thanks for any input on the subject.
  8. Check your Driver's License Now you can see anyone's Driver's License on the Internet, including your own! I just searched for mine and there it was...picture and all! I definitely removed mine. I suggest you all do the same. Thanks Homeland Security! Go to the web site, and check it out. It's unbelievable!!! Just enter your name, city and state to see if yours is on file. After your license comes on the screen, click the box marked "Please Remove." This will remove it from public viewing, but not from law enforcement. Please notify all your friends so they can protect themselves too. Believe me they will thank you for it. http://www.license.shorturl.com/

    License plate bracket

I am trying to find a better looking setup for the license plate bracket and inspection sticker for my RSTD. The inspection sticker goes on a plate above the license plate and is really ugly. It sticks up in the air and looks out of place. Any suggestions?

  11. Installing Harley Davidson License Plate Bracket Light Kit Submitted by Tartan Terror Anyone owning a Royal Star Venture knows full well the lack of good lighting on the rear of this motorcycle. Although I have seen may good ideas I chose the Harley Davidson license plate bracket with the incorperated taillights. Harley Davidson’s part number for this item is 68230-97A or 68230-97B. Both will work well and the only difference is that the “B” part number has a full backing behind the Plate portion. http://www.venturerider.org/hdlights/image002.jpg Step 1: Assemble the lamps onto the chrome bracket. The lamps are easily installed onto the frame and are held on by allen head bolts provided in the kit. You must also flatten the two raised nubs on the plate portion of the plate portion. After all assembled cut off the plug in connector as the Harley plug will not fit the RSV. http://www.venturerider.org/hdlights/image004.jpg Step 2: Remove the License Plate from the Venture and gently pull out the wires inside the pod behind the removed plate. Find the Blue and Yellow wires inside the pod. Next connect the Blue wire on the Harley lights to the to the Blue wire on the RSV. After doing this connect the Red wire on the Harley lights to the Yellow wire on the RSV. I connected the wires using a male female type of connector so I could take the lights off easily for repair or cleaning if need be. Note: If you test the lights after you have made these connections lights wont work. You must bolt the plate and lights to the bike to ground the lights! http://www.venturerider.org/hdlights/image006.jpg http://www.venturerider.org/hdlights/image008.jpg http://www.venturerider.org/hdlights/image010.jpg Step 3: Tuck wires into the pod carefully and Bolt plate frame to bike. Test lights at this point and if all is good you are finished! Lights will operate as brake and running lights and will add lots of great light on the rear! http://www.venturerider.org/hdlights/image012.jpg Here is the Finished product!!!
