  1. What a straight up guy! Been lurking into getting my cars sync'd. He chimed in and voluntered to help me. He lives in Huntsville, I live in Bremen, about 200 miles. Plans were too meet half way in Gadson and he'd show me the ropes at the local stealer. Well, rain and cold, changed the plans, he just simply volunteered to come all the way to my house on his off day just to show me how to sync the carbs!!!!!!!! Showed up with printed directions on the Carbtune and all! WOW! Showed me how to do it and made sure I was clear. got it down pretty close,! and then we just went over some othe minor details about the RSV that I wasn't familiar with. What a wealth on knowledge!!!!!! Great guy! Hopefully now I can help othe with what he's taught me! Thanks so much Eck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chris
  2. This happened about a month ago just outside a little town in the mountains of Tennessee, and while it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it's real. A guy was on the side of the road hitchhiking on a really dark night in the middle of a thunder storm. Time passed slowly and no cars went by. It was raining so hard he could hardly see his hand in front of his face. Suddenly he saw a car moving slowly, approaching and appearing ghostlike in the rain. It slowly crept toward him and stopped. Wanting a ride really bad, the guy jumped in the car and closed the door, only then did he realize that there was nobody behind the wheel. The car slowly started moving and the guy was terrified, too scared to think of jumping out and running. The guy saw that the car was slowly approaching a sharp curve, still too scared to jump out, he started to pray and begging for his life; he was sure the ghost car would go off the road and into the marsh and he would surely drown, when just before the curve, a hand appeared through the driver's window and turned the steering wheel, guiding the car safely around the bend. Paralyzed with fear, the guy watched the hand reappear every time they reached a curve. Finally the guy, scared to near death, had all he could take and jumped out of the car and ran to town. Wet and in shock, he went into a bar and voice quavering, ordered two shots of whiskey, then told everybody about his supernatural experience. A silence enveloped and everybody got goose bumps when they realized the guy was telling the truth and was not just some drunk. About half an hour later two guys walked into the bar and one says to the other: "Look Bubba, there's that idiot who rode in our car as we were pushing it in the rain."
  3. Hello VR members, Just wanted to pass on a couple of pics, to let you know things went well for Tom E. He will be missed, but I guess the Lord had something for him to do as to why he took him so early. We never think it's going to happen to one of our own, so please drive safe out there, and keep an eye out for the other guy, as this is usually the one that doesn't see us.
  4. I spent most of the evening trying to bet this guy ,,I just couldnt:rotfl::rotfl: Boy is this going to be a long winter:crying:
  5. I am considering electrifying my liner that I have with my leather jacket. Anyone have experience with this product? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wiring-Kit-for-Heated-Clothing-Vest-Jacket-garment-WP_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6750QQihZ010QQitemZ200161207116QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Iowa Guy

    avon tires

I will be putting Avon tires on next week. However, the guy at the shop that I spoke to about ordering and mounting them seemed concerned about the difference in size of the mt90 verses the original front as far as how they would fit the rim.He seemed to think because of the difference there would be too much pressure where it sealed on the rim.Has anyone had any problems with the mt90?
  8. Has anyone bought anything from this company off ebay. They have the new show chrome windshields for $79.95. Just wondering what if anyone has any feed back on them. Also does any one have the saddle bag liners from the guy that sells on ebay?
  9. I am organizing a ride for people where I work - and came up with some assumptions to keep in mind while riding. I would love to hear your feedback - other assumptions worth remembering? Good Assumptions to Make for a Safe Ride 1. A bump on the road is bigger than it looks. 2. A hole in the road is deeper than it looks. 3. Just past a blind crest of a hill is a sharp jog to the right or left, or an abrupt T-road. 4. Just because the other guy has a yield sign doesn’t mean he will. 5. Just because the other guy has a stop sign doesn’t mean he will. 6. Just because the other guy has a red light doesn’t mean a thing. 7. Just because the other guy at an intersection looks you in the eye and waves you on through does not mean he will not turn right in front of you. 8. Just because the other guy is sitting beside you in a right turn only lane with his right blinker on, the front wheels pointed to the right, does not mean he will turn right. 9. A car in front of you with a turn signal on means either: (a) it will turn in the direction indicated, (b) it will turn in the direction not indicated, © it won’t turn at all, or (d) it will stop. 10. At every driveway, a car will pull out, back out, or pull into, regardless of who or where you are. Plan on it. 11. A nice twisty can have gravel, wet leaves, animals, and other pestilences which will cause you to soil your underpants. 12. A nice blind twisty will have a semi taking up both lanes, right at you. 13. If the sign on a sharp curve says 15 mph, that should tell you something. 14. Gravel on a twisty means trouble. 15. In a no-passing zone, plan for the on-coming vehicle to pass another approaching vehicle, right straight towards you, and in your lane. 16. A green light will not stay green very long. 17. If the driver of a vehicle beside you looks straight at you, right in the eye, that does not mean (s)he sees you. They will pull over on you. 18. At intersections, on-coming vehicles move faster than you think they are. 19. At an intersection, you will not be seen by other drivers, no matter how big your bike is or how many lights you have on. 20. It takes longer to stop than you think it will. 21. You drop off the shoulder of the road, you will cry on it. 22. In a wooded area or in a farm area or in a suburban area, a deer will jump across the road. Right in front of you. 23. It is not a good idea to run your bike with 5 lbs. of pressure in the tires. 24. That is good stuff they teach you in the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course. 25. There are bold riders. There are old riders. There aren’t any bold, old riders. Think about it.
  10. i walked into a local auto parts store and there it is, a display stand wth Sea-Foam products. he said he has been selling at his shop for 15 years. if anyone is interested pm me and i will pass on the address. when i was down in the USA visiting Bongobob recently, i bought two cans of the stuff because i had not found a distributer here, and this guy is almost in my backyard. the stuff does work, i had a hesitation around 2500 rpm, poured in half a can on a full tank, ran it through and the problem seems to have gone. next tank i am going to put the other half can in. cheers, Scott
  11. Anybody have a dead stator and rectifier laying around they want to get rid of cheap? I wanted to take them to a guy who says he can rewind the stator to put out more power and upgrade the rectifier to handle the extra output.
  12. Hey. I hope I'm not the only one who did this. I used the squeegee at the gas station to wash the bugs of my windshield then used the paper towels to dry the streaks. Now there a bunch of little scratchs all over it. I buffed them till my arm went numb with some stuff I got at the auto parts store that the guy behind the counter said will take them out. I learned he didn't really know what he was talking about.:buttkick:Anyway. Does anybody know a good way to get rid of them?
  13. I copied this from another site, figured it might be "FOOD" for thought to all riders. . . Well, they say fast food is no good for you but I never expected this... I was out cruising last Thursday and decided to pull into a local McDonalds for a quick burger. There I am, driving straight in at about 10-15 mph and all of the sudden it felt like someone yanked the wheels out from under me! I was bouncing off the pavement before I knew what hit me! As I lay there with the wind knocked out of me and feeling like I'd just been beaten, a guy came out and helped me up. When I choked out "...*gasp* why is your parking lot so slick??" he replied "we spill the grease sometimes on the way to the dumpster! Bikes wipe out here all the time! Another guy wiped out here just 2 weeks ago!!" You can imagine my shock to find out that this was a regular occurance and they chose to do nothing about it! No sign, no sand, nothing!! So, I've got one broken (looks like a zig-zag) rib in my back and a cracked one in my chest. About $1000 damage to my bike (windshield scratched to crap, crome damaged, handle bars all bent, triple-tree c**k outta whack). Needless to say, they'll be hearing from my lawyer! I was able to ride to my fiancee's house but that was the most painful, toughest ride ever! My advice to anyone pulling into a fast food joint - avoid the dumpster like the plague! Park next door and walk over!! (...or just go to Subway - much healthier!) _________________ First let me give you the facts. Then you can distort them anyway you wish.
  14. I saw these floorboards on Ebay buy can't identify them. Are they front or back? How would they attach? They don't look like any Venture floorboards I've seen before. Item number: 130031169132 Iowa Guy
