  1. Could happen to anybody. Especially around here. Another reason I don't ride at night. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNO88yqCr5I&NR=1]YouTube - fast crash into deer[/ame]

    Sunshine

OK folks, feel free to hate me, particularly those in the northern climes but I just have to do this. Rocket, sure hope you are back home to enjoy this. After months of rain and below normal temperatures, down to freezing a few days, we have sunshine!!!!! Today I am sitting on the sundeck, drink in one hand, book in the other. It is 60F in the shade, I am in T shirt and shorts. It is warm in the sun. I have been watching 6 deer browsing on the grass about 30 feet away. Two bald eagles have been circling the lake. Once in a while they swoop over the deck to check and see if the deer have roused anything, and to keep an eye on our cats. We have the fastest cats in the world here. About 4 years ago they took down a tree with an eagles nest in it in Victoria. The tree was rotten and going to fall on someones house. They found 12 cat collars in it. Them city cats are just too slow. The swans are back and checking out their nesting site. I have ribs marinating in dark rum and spices for the BBQ later. Got jazz and blues on the stereo. But, and isn't there always a catch, I don't have insurance on the bike yet so I can't go for a ride. I know we are due for another month of rain before it is safe to insure the bike. I almost forgot the best part...the boss is at work!!!!! A cohiba and insurance and the day would be perfect

    Bambi pictures wanted

O.K. all you deer hunters out there....for many reasons I have had to hang up my bow for this deer season...just too much on my plate. I am going nuts not being out there sitting in the tree.....I would love to see any pics anybody has of any deer that have been harvested this season. I will try not to drool on the keyboard.
  4. It's the opening day of deer season. Yamaha Kodiak 4x4 setting out front. I got my Rocky gortex boots, hot coffee in thermos,.223 WSM just begging for a round. Now if I can get those deer to cooperate. It's 5:00 am and I got potatoes and eggs on cooking. A country boy can survive. More later.
  5. http://www.dedge.com/flash/christmas/ For all of you who have hit a deer, here's your revenge. You might even have fun hitting those little pesky elves. Margaret
  6. when it rains it pours, 4 bikers killed on Long Island last weekend......bunch more hurt......... get to work this morning and find we had 2 bike accidents this morning, one looks like the guy hit a deer, one of our officers found him on the side of the road (under the bike)..no idea how long he'd been there, no deer found but they found hair on the front of the bike. Local guy, I kinda knew him, did the tile work in his kitchen a few years ago. Other one hit a deer about 6 this AM, not hurt too bad but the bike is messed up. Another local, don't know if I know him or not yet, didn't get his name. These darn deer are getting tough man...............
  7. My bike has been doing a lot of backfiring on deceleration but has been running like a deer on the highway. Yesterday I went for a four hour ride and it even started stalling before I got stopped at the lights so I had to keep the revs up just to keep it going. I have not got a clue where to begin but I guess I should be starting with the diaphragms and carb slides. I am also thinking that plug wires and plug caps should be replaced: The plugs are new. Any particular type or brand recommended? I see some on e-bay on a pretty regular basis. Any clues would be helpful and appreciated. I am sure this has been discussed before so a link might be helpful too. I suppose a valve adjustment and carb synch would also be in order.
  8. Jake came home on leave this weekend. Last night he and his girlfriend were traveling home on his bike (just a few miles) and a deer ran out in front of them. They were not able to stop and hit the deer. Jake has +/- 50-60 stitches in his head and will not be able to get back on base before his leave is up. He has been in contact with the Staff at NAS P-Cola. We will take him beck when he is released from the hospital. Loraine and Jake both have quite a bit of road rash. Many sore days ahead for the both of them. No broken bones. I'm Praying for their full recovery and that they go easy on him at the base. Many Blessings so far, They are both breathing and have no broken bones, Thank you Jesus. He called me at 12:59am wanting me to come help him, I called 911 from his phone at 1:05am. Thats pretty good time. I was in bed and had to drive 3 miles. Pict #2 is deer hair sticking out from between the wheel and the tire.
