  1. is another motorcycle accident right after the first one. Not gory: http://www.dpccars.com/motorcycle-09/01-07-09page-Motorcycle-accident-on-live-TV.htm Looked like the incoming rider got cut off, but was too anxious to get around another car that was pulling off to his left and didn't brake early enough for the merging white sedan. Victim #4 behind him was'nt much smarter....Very avoidable.
  2. I had to change my "signature" from "never" to "one" accident! Locked up rear wheel in panic on my 01 RSV. Slid about 250' on the asphalt per accident report. Not sure if it would have been better to have ABS or linked brakes which might have prevented the lock up & the lay down. Otherwise I might have hit the bastur* who pulled out in front of me and ended up hitting the car instead and sending over the bars & into the sob! My RSV has about $8K damages and I ended up with road rash and busted up ankle. Thank God I had enough sense to wear my helmet, leather jacket and gloves (which are all trashed!) or else I might not even be able to type this!
  3. I don"t do a lot of posting but I thought this accident may get you checking your bike a little closer. This weekend there was a couple riding 2 up just north of Marrietta Ohio heading south on I-77 when their rear tire either went flat or blew out on their HD Glide. The bike flipped and the couple were thrown into the guard rail. Neither survived the crash. I don't know any other details other than the local news said that excesive speed or alcohol did not appear to be a factor. I don't know about you folks but I am going to check my tire pressures more often and not push tire wear further than I should. So if you are wondering if you should change that tire yet maybe you should.
  4. Two weeks ago, my oldest boy and his girlfriend were involved in an automobile accident. As stated in the police report (ala Readers Digest), his car was traveling east at the posted speedlimit. A car in the west bound lane made a left turn into her driveway and hit my son's car. Both were shaken (not stirred) and no one was seriously injured. My son was taken into the hospital to be looked over due to a cut on his head that occured when his car made a landing after jumping a ditch. Police cited the west bound driver with failure to yeild, and a few other others that I don't remember. The other driver's insurance (Geico) is saying they are only responsible for 75% of the damage and not his medical. They will not give him a rental to replace his damaged car as they are not totally responsible. To add a monkey wrech to all of this, the car is still in my name. How can Geico get by with this. The police report states that the accident was entirely her fault. The only way my son could have prevented it, was by not being on the state road in the first place. What recourse, if any, do my son and I have in this?

    Today I met,,,

Marinerfan and danob11 at Louisville Yamaha. It's always cool to meet folks from the site, and especially at an event like todays. The dealership had a "remembrance" day today for one of his employees, and a good friend of Stratcat's and mine, Tim Faith, who was killed in an accident a year ago. A big thanks to Strat for helping put it together, the bands were great, it was a beautiful day for it, and I know Tim is still smiling and laughing. THANKS CURT!!!!!
  6. Had accident on way home tonight.Truck in my lane was making left but decided to change mind and since I was slowing down at time lost traction with front tire and clipped bumper and taillight with front left side of bike and my hand(going about15 to 20klm)Thought hand was broke but didn't show in x-rays so have to keep iced along with leg that is scraped and bruised. After hitting went to right and in slow-motion I watched as bike broke up and I landed on top of fairing about 5feet away.Left side pretty banged up and not sure what other side is like untill I go to see it at impound tomorrow. Then call insurance(oh joy)Will keep posted.
  7. Its not if you have an accident but when. After 38 years of riding without an accident I lost control on a slow left hander dragging the boards then the crash bars and saddlebag rails. I thought I could save it right up until we went off onto the shoulder of the road and down we went. My daughter was totally uninjured she just popped up on her feet. Unfortunately I fractured my left clavical and a rib. The rib is much more painful than the collarbone. I can't do squat. The bike only has cosmetic stuff. Although I may have trouble finding plastic for my MM model. Oh well live and hopefully learn.
  8. I was rear-ended by someone in a car last week. The accident wasn't bad but there was damage. I called Progressive the following day and reported the accident. I also scheduled the claims adjuster to come over this week and look it over. Since talking to him initially I took a closer look at the damage and thought that it just wasn't worth having the insurance company get involved since I had a $1,000 deductible. The adjuster suggested he come over and look at it anyway just to make sure. When he got here he went over everything very carefully and professionally. He called me up today after getting prices on what needed to be repaired. His estimate was that there was almost $3,000 in damage. I'm glad he convinced me that he should look things over. Did you know that a saddlebag (new) is around $900 list? Ouch. If anyone sees a left 2003 (rasberry & sand) saddlebag on eBay, could you fire me an email?
  9. It is one year today. Although this belongs mainly in the memorial thread, I am posting here due to information on the accident, lawsuit and other information that maybe helpful to other riders some day. Please record your life with photos, notes, cards and emails. Are you on the computer at night or in the morning when your spouse and kids are in bed, at work or school? Send them an email. Let them know you love them, adore them, etc. Leaving for work? Packing a lunch? Stick in a note saying you love that person. Proud of your new bike? Get a FAMILY photo of all of your around it. Anniversary coming up? Mark it on your calendar with stars and hearts. Keeping these little momentos in a box, in the computer, etc come in handy in the case of a lawsuit. The insurance companies want PROOF you were a great dad, great mom, super husband or wife. I have taken in a LOT of photos, love notes, cards, emails Tom sent me long after I had gone to bed that prove his 'significance' as a husband and father. Who would have ever guessed one would need to prove their worth. Lets not talk about his wages. They do not care. Tom is being blamed for 50% of the accident. Their stint is, He CHOOSE not to stop, but to try to go around the back of the trailor. This is based on the driver of the truck and the driver of the car behind the trailor. I am going to give my deposition June 18th. I have been warned, and will go in to be briefed, that it will be brutal. I cannot be defensive when they ask questions like "how often did you have sex? What different ways did you have sex? What hobbies did you have together? How much time were you together when not at work? What medical problems did your husband have? What drugs did he take? on and on and on. I plan to have my cousin go with me to sit by me and help keep me calm. I have to put it in my head "they only care about the money. Keep your cool. Its just a business deal". I am mad because they are trying to blame HIM for even part of the accident. So, I will stand my ground. I will be calm and answer only what they ask and be careful with my words. I still have not sold Tom's bike. I will be putting it in the paper soon. It needs to be sold. I no longer have insurance on it, so I guess the guy will just have to start it and see that it runs. I do not want to be liable for anyone driving it. The kids and I are doing better every day. Its rough, but it will get better...one day at at time. Thanks AGAIN and AGAIN for all the love and support that has poured out from this site. You were and are Tom E.'s family. You saw to it we had your support, and we appreciate it so much. I will be printing up all of the things said about Tom and taking it to the lawyer's office to add to the testimony of his family here and his life, with Don's permission. I am not sure if that is legal or not, to print what you all have said in condolences. I keep trying to gather each piece of EVIDENCE of Tom's life. And all of you were a big part of that. I may even print the thong threads.. That thread was the last great laughs we had together. Tom loved a play on words and rushed to the site for weeks before the accident to see what else had been said about those silly thongs. He laughed so hard. Couldn't wait to tell me what someone else had said about that. Funny how loosing your purse can put the ladies into a tail spin about cheery pairs of thongs. I cherish those laughs, those smiles you all gave him. Thanks again, you sweet loving riders! I LOVE YOU! Sherry, Jason, TJ, DJ and Randy (TJ graduates from Highschool memorial weekend. Jason broke up with his GF in Nov and moved out in Dec to the UOP campus. DJ will graduate next year. Randy and DJ have both grown at least an inch. Randy will graduate 8th grade next year.)

    00 Rsv

Greetings, I was at the local dealer couple days ago , The owner of the place has a 2000 mm RSV that he will sell me for 8500.00. What I was wondering is that a good price for it? And if so he said he had not started it for about a year. He told me they would clean the carbs and put in a new batt. It is his own personal bike. He was in a car accident so he was not able to ride anymore. Buy the way it just has 1000 mls. on it. What other things should i BOLO for? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you. bossman.

  12. Well it started Friday with 1 -an accident with my trailer(old sno-mobile one that I knew tilted but not swiveled) that sidswiped a truck turning in other lane going other way 2 -Brother passing away on Sunday morning Thanks to all for condolences 3 -Wife hitting car driving thro a stop light infront of her from out of nowhere(must have been talking and didn't see it as everyone else was stopped). Think our 2005 car is tottaled but will have to wait and see what adjuster says. one person taken to hospital to check for seatbelt injury. Wife was shaken up a scene but seemed fine for about 1 1/2 hours then shock wore off and broke down.(first accident for her) What a week!!!!!!!!!!
  13. As most of you may already know I had a little accident with my bike on Oct 12, 2007 after surgery on my ankle. The ortho doc gave me a photo of my ankle with the plate and screws. I hope this won't be too distasteful to see. i have added a couple pics of the bikes damage
  14. Over the weekend a coworker and friend lost his son in a motorcycle accident. My friend's son lost control of his bike and the accident was his fault, but knowing this does not make the loss any easier to the family. Please surround Joe and Donna with your prayers as they deal with the loss of their son. http://www.kjrh.com/content/news/breaking/story.aspx?content_id=945ef4e1-dc0d-48ae-ac99-47d7802a04bd
