Any suggestions between a used Royal Star, Road Star, or V Star?
bill4you502 replied to TylerDurden's topic in Watering Hole
I started 4 yrs ago, (when I new I was retiring), with an '01 Road Star that was all souped up and loud as heck! Bought an '06 Royal Star Venture and have made many changes and upgrades based on help I've received on this site. As far as I'm concerned, you can't get a better deal than a RSV for comfort, durability and pure pleasure....Welcome and, good luck!!!! -
I've had 3 sets of Metzeler 880's on two different bikes ('01 Road Star and current '06 RSV) with 0 problems. I agree with keeping the pressure at or near the top of the suggested inflation.

Have any of you guys (& girls!) notice an increase in response time and power after installing Road King mufflers??? Or is it a delusion on my part it!

.....boats.net is always a choice if you can't find things elsewhere. Their prices and shipping are high, but I swear, you could build a bike from their supply!!.........

....I'm 5'7" and need to wear boots with 1 1/2" heels to be "Flat footed" at stops and maneuvering on gravel, etc. The bike is a bit weavy at 5-10 mph, but, I don't feel it's top heavy. At 835 lbs or so, it's a nice ride!!! Good luck!!................

I use the OEM oil & filters. There are many choices on this site, but, for me, it's worth the peace of mind to use Yamalube products......Good luck to you!!!!!

There is a vendor (M61A1MECH?) who sells a plug-n-play light bar for the Venture. I also bought a 13" windshield (Try boats.net) which is 2" wider at the bottom. More lights is better, I agree!!!!!

That's just not fair!!!!!!!

Installed RK Mufflers (Must include the numbers: 95 or 98 on side of mufflers) yesterday with no problem thanks to help on this site. I did purchase a pair if chrome clamps http://www.ebay.com/itm/Royal-Star-Venture-Harley-Davidson-Muffler-VTwin-Clamps-II-/251006468295?hash=item3a7126c0c7&vxp=mtr to fill the void where the Road King mufflers don't quite make it to the existing pipe. Use sandpaper and anti-seize cream and a bit of muscle twisting back and forth. From Ace Hrdwr, purchase 3/4" adele (P) clamps and 5/16X18X1/2 inch allen head stainless steel bolts (Fits the mounting holes on the mufflers). The adele clamps will go over the saddlebag mount and match up with the rear hole in the muffler when the mufflers are on far enough. Also use several oversize washers as the 1/2" bolts are a bit long. The sound is a bit deeper and "rumbles" a bit; very satisfying!!!!! GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!:wow:

.....Oil change is really simple. Run the engine for 10 min or so. Remove the oil filler cap (Behind your right side foot board), remove the bolt from under the oil pan and drain the oil, and, while your at it, change the oil filter (in front of the engine under the radiator). I use Yamalube oil (20W-50) and Yamalube filter. Hand tighten the new oil filter, fill with the proper amount of oil and replace the oil filler cap. Run the engine for 10 min or so then, with the bike upright, check the sight glass on the lower right side. It should be 1/2 full or better. .....Some members use different oil and filters that all seem to work O.K. The beauty of this site is all the help available....Did I miss anything guys (And girls!)?

Awesome job......congrats!!!!!!.......... -
........Damn straight, Don. I, for one, enjoy the site immensely! Even though I don't contribute often, you folks have guided me through many issues and problems in the past 3 years. PLEASE continue 'cause I find comfort in others that are as nuts as I am!!!! "Friendship is born at that moment when one man says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!" - CS Lewis

I did the same as Bert. 14" wider windshield http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Sport-Windshield-by-Show-Chrome-Clear-20-610-/290946851754?hash=item43bdc8a3aa&vxp=mtr ; wear fullface or modular helmet in cold weather and a "Lid" in warm weather...........

Yes, more sound & better bass response. I used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Install-Bay-VXT40-4-Round-Shape-Quality-Acoustic-Car-Speaker-Baffles-Pair-New-/331527119401?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d308e6229&vxp=mtr pair of 4" round VTX40. Had to cut and fit including duct tape rether than removing speakers. A definite improvment! GOOD LUCK:group cheers:

"Darlene" has started to groan when I first mount her
bill4you502 replied to bknsaddle's topic in Watering Hole
Bought my '06 RSV with 18,000 on it. It moaned then and moans today at 40.000 miles. Only noticeable when you mount the bike before starting. The shock works great and I keep 20 PSI in it, I ride solo and weight 190+! -
Sure it wasn't April 1st??????
