  1. wow...so it does look like there are some options with the oem bars.... thanks for the links pofarm...i will check these things out (and other google searches)... thanks again
  2. i have seen a couple of photos on google of '96 rs boulevards without engine bars... http://planetsoarer.com/royalstar/96_royalstar_3_600.jpg the only reason i wan them is to be able to put some pegs and comfortably stretch out on the hiway.... from the pics i have seen i am questioning if the oems stick out far enough and high enough to clear the controls with my feet on whatever pegs will fit. will the oem bars get me where i need to be?
  3. I did find the handlebar chart in this website but also found that my bike is not listed. I did also perform a similar Google search and found that all of the bar seems to be 1 inch bars. I will assume that by bars are 1 inch thanks for the reply.
  4. Hey gang, I hate to ask a really stupid question but i don't have the wherewithall to check this myself right now and am wondering, what size handlebars are on my '96 rs boulevard? i believe they are 1" but would like someone to clarify. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/2012-07-20_11-40-40_132.jpg thanks in advance john

  8. That's awesome StarFan....thanks so much. i didn't know that it was called a fender "bib" that is exactly what i'm looking for. i am not sure about whether or not to get the bigger crashes or not...they do look nice, just a bit bulky (and expensive). thanks again!!!
  9. thanks Starfan...nice lookin' rs's my '96 rs boulevard didn't come with any type of bars...but i need to get some so that i can stretch out when i am out to put some mileage on 'er. am still hoping Bigjohn will reply...that fender pad is bad-a$$
  10. There are still a few of them out there...i know these are newer but Christini makes both 2-stroke and 4-stroke models today... http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/untitled.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NuyQ6An-yTY/UIbV-ySGlII/AAAAAAAAKKU/vYfnQelUIbo/s1600/christiniawd450.jpg as well as rokon (been doing this for several years...) http://www.southbayriders.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=345632&d=
  11. This is possibly one of the sweetest/cleanest "custom" RS's i have ever seen... Hey, Bigjohn6886 (or anyone else who can answer), i have a few questions. What type of hiway bars are these and where did you get them? http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/myV-4010.jpg What type of fender pad is this and where did you get it? (have looked on fleabay and haven't seen anything like this) http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/Zapshouse007.jpg thanks in advance...and sweeeeet ride!
  12. i can tell you that on any gm product since 1990 that one of the major reasons of premature fp failure is running the tank low on fuel (they are cooled by fuel in the tank as well as what is flowing). i don't think it's the same on these bikes but .....idk
  13. hey, i have the same q's too....drop me the same pm. thanks
  14. i feel sorry for this guy... http://l.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/0kLFv0GOsL5WOu.gMmkepA--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7cT04NTt3PTYzMA--/http://media.zenfs.com/en/blogs/thesideshow/gibson-delta.jpg

  16. my pop bought a piano for my mom back in 1968. She learned to play and play well. i took piano lessons from age 6 to age 16...was decent and played mostly classical music. (funny... now i can't read music and only play by ear..mostly guitar music) got a guitar for christmas when i was 14...strummed it 3 times and gave it to my brother (who went on to minor in music at BGSU)...my brother (and his son) plays anything with strings and plays it well. back in the late 80's i bought another acoustic guitar (korean alvarez), then a number of banjos and a mandolin (or two)...and played until my finger bled. picked up a jean larrivee about 15 yrs ago and have beat the snot out of it. my son is into guitar and has a number of electrics (and my old alvarez)... my uncle (a jazz guitarist) has recently had to go into assisted living (actually, he's not really living, just there). he had a number of guitars and gifted this one to me ('66 martin gt-75). it's almost too "pretty" to play but i can't keep my hands off of it... http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/rockys%20guitars/ROCKYSGUITARS020.jpg he gifted this one to my brother ('64 epiphone zephyr)... http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/rockys%20guitars/ROCKYSGUITARS008.jpg would be nice to get together with some other ventureriders and do a little jammin...
  17. here's how i was greeted this mornin'..... http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/gmcpb.jpg
  18. well, ain't never bin no gud at math....it's like $0.50/oz and our tractor supply sells for about $65/gallon. ......but it is gud stuff not sure about that but it will take grape juice stain out of an antique tablecloth... http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/billy-mays-oxiclean-shirt.jpg
  19. how much would you put in for a full tank...not sure if i would follow what's on the bottle (not sure if it's too little or too much). i would like to know how much members here are putting in for the winter mos... Well, here in michigan the stuff costs about $1/oz (or a hair over $7000 for 55 gal)....that would cost about 3x what i paid for my star.....gonna have to buy it 1/2 pint at a time
  20. the light starts flashing on my rs between 135 and 145 miles....i have ridden as far as 160 miles and still never had to flip the tank to reserve. if i keep it 65 mph and under i will get 40 mpg...if i run it at 80+ mpg i get about 36-37 mpg seems to be the norm on the boulevard with the standard tank...
  21. i have no experience with e85 in my rs, but i did put it oncein my work truck (e85-ready) and had at least 30% loss in mpg....the truck ran so bad the one time i ran it (it seems like it developed a miss) i never ran it again. are these bikes e85-ready? how was the performance on your steed when you ran it? did it have any lasting effects?
  22. has anyone put 4 hd pipes on a royal star? does it need to be re-jetted? how does one of these sound with 4 hd pipes on it? thanks in advance
  23. well.....i got it i took the motion pro back and was refunded (the glycol sticking in the columns really made it impossible). i promptly went to harbor freight and bought two fuel pressure/vacuum gages, made a couple of chokes (i need to re-do 'em with some smaller orifices) and got 'er done! http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p14/dbikers/hfvacgage.jpg i honestly can't tell whether or not the vibes are gone (feels a l'il worse in 4th and a l'il better in 5th ). i think i'm gonna monitor the mpg and maybe with some smaller chokes go back and re-sync one more time and call 'er good. thanks all for your help in this matter. your input really helps. one more payin' member about to join. john
  24. nobody's done it??
  25. Hello Doug, i calibrated the tool before attaching to the carbs and attempting the sync. Screw number 1 seamed to complete the sync for 1-2 with no problem Screw A seemed to sync 3-4 but ( i think) Screw B seemed to sync left bank to right side. i would blip the throttle 3 times between checking. at one point i had them all synced ...then i shut the bike off and when started it again it was no longer synced. that's where it seemed to go wrong in trying to sync 3-4 with the A screw i got carried away (actually, i tried to adjust both cw and ccw and it just got worse.... right now the right side is backfiring bad (lean i believe)....cyl 3 is pulling the glycol all the way up if i leave at idle. i think i need to richen the A screw but not sure which direction (cw or ccw) i need to turn it to do so..... am kicking myself (as i should) as i didn't note exactly what adjustments i made (i know better than that).. any further help would be greatly appreciated. john.
