  1. The year 2000 (Y2K) was significant not because people thought of it as the beginning of a "new century" but rather, it's implications and impact on computer systems and software that were not adjusted. A big part of that also had to do with leap year calculations.
  2. Well, ya gotsta take the durned thang outta thet thar case yanno b'for yer kin do anythin!! :rotf:
  3. cool... so how long have you been at it so far? I think I will set myself a schedule of an hour every second evening to begin with. I'm currently working on A, E, & D chords and changing from one to the other. Here's some good stuff I found on the net ... http://www.justinguitar.com/ of course, I am just on the "Beginners course" material.
  4. theoretically you are right but for all intents and purposes, I'd prefer to think it starts Jan 1, 2010 because that's when it flips to the next "10" That's similar to saying I'm 60 when I'm in my 59th year ... ain't no way I gonna make myself older unless I get a discount for it LOL
  5. Finding someone to "play with" (now guyz... get yer mind outta the gutter) is no problem. My wife's daughter is a singer/songwriter/guitarist and she's the one who inspired me to realize a life-long dream. As for "keeping interested" ... heh... as I mentioned, this has been a life-long dream and I am not gonna loose interest now.
  6. I have a feeling that I am doing this, especially with my index finger. The strings are not that high ... it's a good quality Yamaha Acoustic guitar.
  7. That's the answer I was needing coz I wasn't sure if I should keep practising or wait for a few days. As for the "bleeding" ... ain't gonna happen! LOL
  8. I got a guitar for xMas ... have always wanted to learn to play...never did. I practised boxing day and both days following...probably a couple hours each day. My chording fingers are so sore, tender, and numb feeling it almost hurts to type. I'm not sure if I should take a chance and practise more and risk doing more damage to my fingers or wait a few more days until the "normal" feeling comes back. And that brings me to my question... how long does it take before my fingers will start feeling normal again? (or will they?) ... mommy, it hurts ...
  9. There were 3 very significant things that took place in my life during this decade (2000-2010). The separation and divorce from my now ex-wife of 28yrs. The reunion with my son whom I had not seen for 31 years (he was 1.5 yrs when I'd last seen him). Re-connecting with my son was the greatest and we are very close. The breakup of my life with my ex was a very difficult time and it was shortly after that, that I connected with my son. My ex and I are still friends and we stay in contact with each other. Finally, meeting and marrying Nina almost 5 years ago. I can't imagine anything that could top any of these events in the coming decade.
  10. speaking of which, does anyone know what the torque should be on the bolts holding the clutch spring on a 2nd gen?
  11. Guess I totally forgot about 1st gen's ... :rotf: :rasberry:
  12. Now we have one so let's all make a choice and see where it goes. The "I" basket seems to have cured mine.
  13. how do I get to Hyperlobby?
  14. I haven't tried that yet ... maybe today
  15. Monty ... just an update... I downloaded IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 ... it's great ... been spending a lot of time with it. Another one I found that is free which I really like is Free Falcon 5. It's an F16 jet ... takes quite a bit of learning tho... You can get it here... http://www.tacticalgamer.com/falcon-4-general-discussion/135096-free-falcon-5-out.html and the upgrade from version 1 to 3 here... 16. My sincere apologies. I got a bit carried away with my comments without thinking about the effect and the place. It was not my intention to insult you. You have every right to your opinions and beliefs, just as I do and we should be able to voice them here without fear of being insulted. All the best to you and yours at this special time of year. -Rick
  17. Yup... what we need is a "Stupid Law" ... yes, I know some laws are stupid but I mean one for Stupid People. Fine 'em... stick 'em in the calaboose!!! Down with Stupid People I say!!! All kidding aside, those things could all fall under one existing law and that is "undue care and attention" which comes into play when an accident is involved. Similarly, so could the use of cell phones I guess but... Making it a separate law allows for a separate fine and one in which nothing else has to occur as a result of same. I agree with most of what you say but imagine... getting a fine because you're talking to your spouse while driving... and what constitutes talking? 3 words or more? Imagine how much more we'd have to be taxed to cover the additional costs associated to enforcing so many laws... a line has to be drawn somewhere I suppose. I think that a "cell phone" law kindof brings that particular thing into the forefront of peoples minds and that appears to be necessary due to the associated accident statistics not just here but everywhere. I also think that because it is a separate law, it could result in stiffer punishment being doled out when an accident is involved. An interesting topic here....enjoying the varied responses ..
  18. Around here, to the best of my understanding, the left lane is not exclusively for "passing" and then once you've passed someone, you must go back into the right lane. I don't see that or have read anywhere that it is supposed to be that way. What is posted is ... "Slower traffic keep right". It then seems to be left to each individual to determine if they are considered "slower traffic". What does happen is the faster moving traffic is often in the left lane and when someone is in that lane and driving slower than the rest of the flow in the left lane, they "generally" move over to the right to allow the traffic to pass them. Yup, we pass in the left lane most of the time but it is not for "passing only" ... and then there are times when the right lane is moving faster than the left so, we then pass on the right. Maybe it's a "Canuck thing" or a "BCer thing" ...???
  19. RE: BoomerCPO, Yammer Dan, & friesman1 posts. I totally agree that if enforcement isn't happening, the law is useless...but is it? Well, let's suppose a driver gets in an accident. That driver happens to be texting. It's not law yet ... who's at fault (legally)? ... now, bring in the law... it makes it easier to place blame and lay a charge I would think. Just like seat belts.... what are the chances of getting caught without one? But, when ya do...and eventually ya will if ya don't wear em.... you will get a fine and that makes a person think twice about it and if all we can do is make people THINK...then the law is worth it. It's all about education and isn't that what we really want? How many times do you have to tell someone about something?... but when you stop telling and start punishing, maybe they start listening. As per Brian's province... there will be a grace period for the month of January and I have no doubt that the police around here will be running many "blitz's" to "get the word out". They will be watching for that at every speed trap. EDIT: ooops... I meant "BooNer" ...
  20. Cellphone use is the No. 1 cause of distracted driving, which causes one out of every four car accidents in B.C. Distracted driving causes about 117 deaths every year. http://www.theprovince.com/news/Warning+drivers+Cellphone+starts/2370110/story.html It's about time!

  23. Thanks! ... I've since changed them because installation of the bar risers didn't allow for the "full width" plate so I have one on each side now...
  24. You gotta pull the engine and split the bottom case. It's caused mostly by a "thrust washer" that's worn out and was originally too thin from factory. There's lots of info about this and Rocket is one member who can be of big help on this. $1900 is too much when 2nd gear is gone. IMHO
  25. The lights on the front...
