  1. Back at ya guys! and a great new year!
  2. I have the same thing. I just tip it over on to a oil drain pan. Go with the flow... sort of.
  3. That's very mooooving... And kinda cool!
  4. We're glad to hear all went well. Hope the healing goes good! Tom and Terry
  5. Thanks Rick.
  6. Yep! That's the plan. I want to do the east coast next summer.
  7. We're going to do a photo op with the 3 redheads!
  8. Thanks Bummer, Again, great ideas! What a great site!
  9. I'm not getting out much, just when I can for short periods when its above freezing. I'm not big on sliding... Not sure what can be done about the clutch, I'm told that is just the way they are. The foot pegs are a good idea also. Someone mentioned on the site that HD has foot pegs/floor boards that fit the venture so I may check that out as well.
  10. I had (and still have) an 84 standard venture that had no 2 way communications. The 2000 has one. Instead of buying new headsets I was hoping to use the chatterbox headsets but use an adapter cord to convert to a 5 pin for the built in unit on the venture.
  11. Boy, I get a newer bike and I seem to be on the site a lot more. Go figure. I had a chatterbox tandem pro HJC-50 that I used on my 1st gen but the 2nd gen has a built in intercom/radio. Does anyone know or if it is possible to have an adapter cord that goes from the chatterbox (looks like 7 pin) to a 5 pin setup?
  12. Thanks for the update Bummer. Tom
  13. I tend to agree!
  14. You're right, I will look for a grill guard this winter
  15. Thanks Terry says Hi too.
  16. No, The clutch whine is too loud to hear the engine. I just like a quiet ride. I'm going to wait until I have a back rest before any heal toe shifter mods. Spent about 1.5 hours on the highway yesterday and I can feel it on my lower back. Just the way I'm built I guess
  17. Well sort of... Happy Halloween
  18. Thanks Bob, Hey, how have you been doin? Let us know next time you get to the peg.
  19. Yea, I guess I have to stop picking on 2nd gens, dang it! Can I still pick up on Harleys?
  20. Thanks Rick, I'm not sure what is on the bike now, if it is stock I will have to go quiet aftermarket. I'll let you know. Blue is good but... ( its not red)
  21. Thanks Bob, I'll check this out. We're already planing on the international, its been 2 years too long!
  22. You know the answer, actually it is just a different ride, 2 different animals. (both red) I almost think my 84 is geared different, fast, but the 2000 seems to have more low end torque? I may be wrong. Both pass great on the highway and that is all that matters to me. ( and its red) I used to find the clutch whine on the 1st gen annoying, not any more! If you've had both, you know what I mean. (but its red) Even with almost original pipes, the 84 is quieter then the 2000. (I do not believe loud pipes save lives. Loud pipes just piss people off.) I will be looking at the possibility of quieter pipes for next summer. (the pipes aren't red) My biggest concern is the foot forward issue but I am going to modify the heal/toe shifter (as someone did on the site) and maybe back extend the floor boards somehow... I'll get around to that in the spring. Putting in a drivers back rest will help. I am someone who rides 2 up a lot, I like the low centre of gravity on the 2nd gen! Just 2 different, but red animals. I now need to start searching for safety chrome parts for next summer. 1. drivers back rest 2. passenger's arm rests 3. Windshield air vents, I'll do that next spring 4. Someone on the site made an air block to bock air on your legs. 5. saddlebag guards and the trunk carrier. 6. quieter pipes 7. trailer or camper trailer 8. the list goes on and on... but its a fun list! Both redheads are fast enough for me.
  23. Yes, I have been riding the 2nd gen for about 2 weeks. Today I washed the 84, rode it and put in fuel stabilizer to put it away for the winter and I still "really" like that bike! I just don't want to be stuck in a tent or hotel room looking for parts on ebay.
  24. Yes, I thought so too.
