  1. I am not sure, the wiring diagram does not say where the fuse is located, but if memory serves me it is in one of the fuse boxes. It is a very low amperage circuit, maybe 5 amps.
  2. You looking for a two pin white connector, both halves of the connector are there, the one side is dummied off with rubber plugs. the wires are Black = Ground the power is Brown with Red stripe. Normally you will find it on the left side down low.
  3. So taking my previous post a small step forward, you may want to see if there is any one on the site that has a spare ignition module left over from a DYN2K install that they would loan you. You could try swapping out the ignition module to eliminate that as a possible suspect. Could be faulty electronics in the unit doing something funky at low RPMs. Not a typical fault, but it is an easy check if there is a spare module around some where.
  4. Is this a true statement for the GEN-II Royal Star Ventures? I thought all of the ignition functions were taken care of by the ignition control module? I know on my 07 with a DYNA 2K ignition module I could dial the spark advance with the dip switches on the DYNK 2K module. I do not have my Venture anymore so no way to confirm the presence of vacuum advance.
  5. Not normally, but it is worth looking at I think. Other than when you roll on the throttle at low RPMs the bike seems to run fine? Have you checked where the boots from the air box connect to the top of the carbs? Sometimes they are hard to get back on just right and you could have one that is not sealed to the carb throat properly or maybe the clamp is not tight, just some thoughts.
  6. Have you checked the fuel filter?
  7. Have you modified the air boxes or added K&N filters? On my 07 after I did a double whammy where I opened up the air boxes after installing K&N filters it would "bog" down at certain RPMs while applying the throttle, then catch up and run fine. First I shimmed out the slider needles on the carbs, but eventually found a set of stock air boxes and swapped the modifies ones out and went back to stock. That cured my problem. What speeds and what gear are you in when this happens, could be you are lugging the engine down, you cannot e going down the road at 55 mph in 5th gear and quickly open the throttle up on these bikes, they will stumble almost every time, now 3rd gear at 55 mph, crack the throttle, you best be hanging on. Just a few thoughts. Keep us posted on what you learn.
  8. So here are some more ideas. First I firmly believe in Seafoam, it works, do not be afraid to use it. Close the petcock and run the bike until it dies from fuel starvation. Disconnect the fuel line from petcock and fit another tube of some type to the end of the rubber fuel line. Put the end of fuel line extension into a can of Seafoam and turn the key on, the fuel pump will pull pure Seafoam right up to the carbs and fill the bowls. Let that sit for a few hours or overnight. Would not hurt to tap on the carbs a few time while the Seafoam is in there. Put a healthy dose of Seafoam in the fuel tank and reconnect the fuel line to the petcock. After the Seafoam has had a chance to work on the junk in the carbs, open the petcock and start the bike, it will be a bit hard to start but, it will do on the Seafoam, may smoke some white smoke at first and may run a bit rough until it starts getting real gas again. Let it run until you have purged the bowls and the carbs are full of fuel. Check for leaks that you have noted above. FYI On this bike it is a good idea to shut the petcock and let it starve for fuel each time you shut it down if it is going to be parked for a few days or more. It is always a good idea to shut the petcock off each time you stop especially if you have a sticking float, because the fuel can leak down into the cylinders and create a hydro-lock situation where you could have a cylinder full of liquid fuel on the compression stroke, that has been known to break things. Good luck, keep us posted on your progress.
  9. Condolences to Rick and family.
  10. Sadly the Venture is still dead, all the talk is wishful thinking. RIP Royal Star and Venture
  11. I would check with Carbon One at this link on our classifieds for a hitch set up http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=30&title=rsv-2f-rstd-reciever-hitch&cat=15 I would suggest checking out my classified section(see links below) , I have plug and play 4 wire or 5 wire set ups to match your trailer. I always just kept my harness ty-wrapped to the hitch insert that takes the place of the center tie bar on the saddle bag stays. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=459&title=5-wire-plug-n-play-trailer-harness&cat=18 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=458&title=4-wire-plug-n-play-trailer-harness&cat=18
  12. Once you get the spread sheet built the easiest way to find something like a name will be to select the column you want to search by clicking on the letter at the top of the column. Once the whole column is selected press the Ctrl key and the F key at the same time, that brings up the Find option box, enter the name you are looking, select find all, or find next and the program will find it for you. If you want to find the sum of the number sin a column or a row, use the sum function, look for the funny looking E in the ribbon headers, that is sum function. I use Excel a lot for work and at home, very easy and handy. Let me know if you need any help.
  13. The 1800 Goldwing riders forum started showing a bunch of adds right around the first of the year so a lot of folks over there are using Adblockplus. I installed it and it works very well, I am not using EDGE, still using Internet Explorer, so I have no idea if it will work for Edge. Adblockplus is also free but asks for a donation. On the 1800 Goldwing riders forum there was an added plus to using it, their site has a bad habit of not opening thumbnail attachments, you click on a thumbnail to view a picture and the screen goes dark gray and when you opt out of that screen, it puts you back in to the general forum page, not the previous page you were reading. Installing Adblockplus fixed that issue, so I keeping it. Good luck.
  14. Have you looked through this area of the web site? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?13-First-Gen-Tech-Library-READ-ONLY!
  15. Maybe it is a stink bug, http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2014-03-12/features/bs-ae-stink-bug-winter-20140311_1_stink-bugs-michael-raupp-thomas-kuhar , Hope it is not a bed bug. http://www.pestworld.org/pest-guide/bed-bugs/
  16. One thing to remember is that on all Royal Stars 4th and 5th gears are overdrive gears, if you are cruising around at 40 or 50 MPH in 4th or 5th and give them a lot of gas, they stumble. Use 1st to 3rd up to about 60 MPH , then go to 4th, no real need for 5th unless you are on the interstate at 70 plus. Take it out and stay in 3rd gear, find a nice straight section of deserted road or an interstate om ramp and crank on the throttle. The rev limiter should kick in around 95 and it will not take long to get there. Another thing that caused me trouble on my Venture, which is essentially the same bike as yours, mechanically, was when I installed K&N air filters I opened up the air box, resulted in a very lean conditions and when I got on the throttle it would sometimes bog down like it was running out of gas. So check the air filters and the air boxes form modifications. I fixed mine by shimming the needles on the carbs. Welcome to the forum and good luck with the bike.
  17. Well you could not have picked a better place to land in Florida as far a riding than Brooksville, all of eastern Hernando, Pasco, Citrus and Marion county are some of the best riding in the state , IMHO. Look forward to getting together with you one day, as long as you do not mind riding with an old fart on a Goldwing.
  18. Nothing even close on their website. This is what most are using for Ventures, http://www.carbtune.com/
  19. I agree with BongoBob, easiest thing to check is for vacuum occurring in the fuel tank due to partially clogged vent line. Run it again until it dies, immediately remove the fuel cap and listen to see if you hear the sound of air rushing into the tank. If you do and the bike starts without waiting the 5 minutes, then that is your issue. If not, I would lean towards the fuel pump going out after it gets hot and needing to cool down before it operates again. Good luck, keep us posted.
  20. I am telling you head south, you will not regret it , ride 365. you will love it.
  21. Merry Christmas and have a Happy and Prosperous New Year
  22. Anyone up in the frozen north that wants to move south, come to New Smyrna Beach, Florida and let me sell you a house. Forecast to be 80 degrees and sunny on Christmas day, just saying .
  23. I found a You Tube video for reconditioning rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries, like they use in yard tools. I had a Ryobi battery that was so flat the charger would not recognize it. So I did what the video said, used a power supply to charge the flat battery with just enough juice to allow the charger to recognize it. It did work, the battery did charge up, it did power the tool, but the charge would only last about 1/2 the time as a good battery and the battery would not hold a charge on its own. If I left it in a charged state on the shelf, a week later it was dead again. So yes that worked, to allow me to charge the battery, but it did not recondition the battery. Wet cell lead acid batteries may be different, for the cost of a box of Epson salts like the video showed, it could be worth the effort, but I am not sure I would want to trust it on my daily driver that I depend on to get to and from work, especially this time of year if I were up north.
  24. Here is one link to a YOUTUBE video , there are lots of them out there for free, they could work.
