  1. I just stuck on short pieces of vacuum hose and plugged the open end with a tight fitting steel ball which I got from smashing apart on old bearing. the ball has to be large enough to not go into the vacuum tube but small enough to fit tight in the hose. Mine have been on the bike for 7 years now with no issue.
  2. Even if you had put a new valve in it may still have broke because Valves do not usually break on their own. there is usually an underlying cause. improperly seated keeper coming out, broken spring, if adjustable rockers the Jam nut could have come loose, foreign object causing the valve to bend poor lubrication cause a partial seizure which could result in piston / valve collision, or over revving the engine. Just say,n
  3. Great News. Praying for a smooth and successful recovery.
  4. Amen to that.
  5. Praying for both of you that Marca comes through this with flying colours. Make sure to give her a couple very loving and reassuring hugs on behalf of Marita and I.
  6. I may have one. I will need to check. If I do its yours. you may have to pay some postage. On another note most of us replace the box with one of these. https://www.amazon.ca/Electop-Negative-Waterproof-Protection-Automotive/dp/B0838TZ2Z2/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2KKCQQSMX9XLL&dchild=1&keywords=mini+fuse+block&qid=1608593946&sprefix=mini+fuse+block%2Caps%2C178&sr=8-7
  7. that is amazing. I imagine it took some creative program writing to make it happen.
  8. Merry Christmas to all as well and hopefuly a Happy New Yaer. My oriental friend told me that in the oriental calendar, 2020 was the year of the rat. 2021 is the year of the ox or as my oriental friend likes to say, year of the Happy Cow so lets all hope 2021 is the year that rids us of all our problems and brings us a year of good health, compassion and peace of mind.
  9. Kind of like the idea myself. The sensors would not be a problem. they are just tiny devices that pops into a small hole. Just need to devise a small receiver/alert device. PS: Found this on line and I am sure there must be others. Check out the main link and the attached video links. https://www.tadibrothers.com/category/search?keyword=blind+spot+warning+
  10. Not that It makes much difference to me. But I admit If I was to indicate my preference, 👍 would be it.
  11. Also glad to hear he is home again. Good luck in your recovery Earl.
  12. I was not sure what tire model he was referring too, only that he mentioned Shinko. I agree with your reference about a blanket comment but at the same time, thought I should draw attention to it just in case it was something that should be looked into if one is considering buying the tire. Better safe than sorry.
  13. FYI: Just saw this video were front end wobble was caused by a defective Shinko tire. They apparently had a bad batch so I thought I would post this in case this may apply to anyone. looks like this was posted Feb 21 2020
  14. Try checking with some of the up-fitters. Often they take the truck boxes off new or even barely used trucks to replace them with different body's. For example converting them into a catering truck or emergency vehicle or replacing them with a tool box body for service vehicles. Often they have a yard full of truck body's they have removed.
  15. Check out these links the last two are complete gasket sets but the price for the complete set is less than gasket and seals bought seperatly by the look of it. https://www.siriusconinc.com/pro-detail.php?pid=&product_id=122632 https://www.siriusconinc.com/pro-detail.php?pid=&product_id=121166 https://www.siriusconinc.com/pro-detail.php?pid=&product_id=121613
  16. One tire I would not put on the 1st gen though they seem to work well with the 2nd Gens is the Avon Tire. Many myself included found at 60 mph(96 km) the tire would cause the bike to go into a bad tail wag. Trying various tire pressures did not seem to make any difference. But as I said they do seem to work well on the 2nd gens. Another tire to be cautious about is the Metzler. Though for the most part they have historically been good tire they have had some catastrophic failures. I believe, though I am not 100%, that the ones that failed were made in Mexico, so if you do decide to go to a Metzler, see were it is made before you buy. On the other hand there are members here that have Experienced the failure that would probably and understandably so, tell you to just steer clear of them completely.
  17. Hello Jean. Assuming you are monitoring this post I was wondering as I would think the rest of the membership is how Earl is doing. Still praying for him BTW.
  18. Also anyone considering lowering their bike should keep in mind the bridging effect of different wheel base lengths, when you lower the bike you also reduce the amount of clearance the center of the bike has when passing over humps and the longer the wheel base of any bike the more you reduce this hump clearance. So on that note keep in mind the venture has a very long wheel base. In other words the longer the wheel base the quicker a bike will bottom out going over a hump.
  19. Praying for Earl and family that he will have a successful surgery and enjoy a full recovery. He is one of a few and a greatly respected member. I always enjoy meeting him at the rallies and hope to again soon, once this Covid-19 mess is sorted out.
  20. Not every successful man is a good father. But every good father is a successful man.”
  21. the material would also have to be heat oil and acid resistant
  22. That is why I only said if you could because often gasket thickness is an important factor.
  23. OPTION 1; Try spraying the gasket surfaces and the gasket with Permatex high tack. Allow to dry to a point just beyond tacky and assemble. OPTION 2; Apply a thin coat of Permatex No2 to the gasket surfaces and reassemble with the gasket. OPTION 3; Apply a small bead 1/32 to 1/16 inches in dia of anaerobic gasket eliminator along the center of the gasket surface. Do not smooth out. reassemble with gasket. OPTION 4; Coat the damaged areas with JB weld for aluminum. once hard, file or sand smooth and reassemble. NOTE: I do not recommend using a silicone in combination with a gasket as all too often the silicone causes the gasket to squeeze out or distort when you tighten the bolts. If you think you can get away with out the gasket use either a small bead 1/32 to 1/16 inches in dia of anaerobic gasket eliminator along the center of the gasket surface. Do not smooth out and reassemble or A product called the right stuff again applying a small bead down the center and letting it spread naturally as you assemble the parts. By applying a bead rather than smoothing it out it pushes out any air and eliminates the risk of developing air pockets
  24. I could not read your note so forgive me if I am repeating anything. I do think I read a part were they say you need to go to the GPS vendor for warranty. That in my mind is crap. It may be true that warranty is through the the vendor but since the bike was bought new with the unit factory installed the Yammy dealer should be dealing with them on your behalf. Even when we sell a truck and send it to an up fitter for add on's prior to the sale, we take on the responsibility of dealing with the up fitter on the customers behalf. If it was sent to the up fitter at the customers request after the truck sale, then the customer takes on the responsibility of dealing with the up fitter. On another note does the GPS have a built in antenna or is it a remote antenna usually looks like a small puck type thing. It could either be faulty or have a loose connection. Still something the dealer should be dealing with however.
  25. Should be no problem all the wiring is accessible. You should be able to cut the center section of the dash out for the display and using some flat sheets of the black inner fairing and plastifix/plastex build a nice neat mount for it.
