  1. AS of now planning on running Hwy 2 I think it is most of the way to Bowmanville.
  2. Cheeda dont hink I got SWR any more. I quit fooling with CB back about the time they went to 40 channel. :rotf:Its no bigge so far. Thanks for the tip though, ya never know.
  3. I have not had much sucess with my CB either. I just write it off to user error. I try to tune in the squelch and either get all static or can only get someone line of site (like maybe 1/4 mile) So I just turn the racket off.
  4. End of Aug and first part of Sept if you look, youll see a red/black 09 with Fla tags in the Kingston to Oshawa area.
  5. Where is your 12v source? You using the one on left side of fairing? Mine so far hasnt gave me any issues. I know on my 900 vulcan I had to put a "filter" or "trap" on power for my radio. Think I got it from radio shack. Thing looked sort of like an M80. http://rsk.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pRS1C-2266705w345.jpg
  6. If you dont get satisfaction I guess you can start an internet campaign against them. Facebook bad remarks, twweter thingy bad words anything like that. If part was damaged when you got it how do you prove it? I mean whats to say being the sticker is messed up, someone didnt put it in and kill it and RMA it? Is part bad or you dont need it now?
  7. My big hesitation on the northern tool LED lights are I have yet to get a good discription or compairison of how they are to the standard incandesent bulb or the halogen like I have. With the HID I feel like I need something to "fill in" between the HID and the bike. On low there is a section say 10-15 feet from bike to where the HID makes great light. I feel like I need something to illuminate that and a little to the side.
  8. Even with good voltage the incandesent passing light bulbs will look "yellow" when compaired to a Halogen or HID headlight. I have halogen passing lights and mine look yellowish when compaired to my HID. Still the 9 volts sounds like a problem in the works.
  9. The actual "headlight" cant be removed, its a sealed housing. The bulb however comes in from the rear. I have changed mine out without splitting the fairing. I find it easiest to turn full lock to right and you can sort of gain access. Splitting fairing sounds like abig job but after you do it a few times you can almost get all the right tools first time around. If you have passing lights you will have to remove them (2 ea 6mm allen bolts under fairing) unless it has a special spacer. 3mm allens on drivers side (I had to go buy a set with the 3mm in it) and I think same for windshield bolts. Careful with the chrome strip thing around windshield, the clips break very very easily.
  10. One lane on the Dragon is closed? It aint much wider than one lane. Man are the rip roarin sport bikers gonna be peaved.
  11. Funny how one manufacture of a "good" tire for one type of bike is junk for another. On the 900 Vulcans the Metzler was a popular choice and ran well. The D 404 Dunlaps were junk. 7K if you were extreemly lucky, most were in the 5-6k range. Maybe it is the weight of the RSV that causes the issues on the Metzlers. Glad you found it before it became an issue for you.
  12. Bring rain gear man. It has been raining like Noha was building an arc again in these parts. Some days its .3 other days like yesterday we got 1.3 here in highlands county.
  13. I have a site saved and it may be the same one linked. The guy is something the oil guy. Anyways has a big section on filters as well as oils. Best rated filters were the gold purolator, reg purolator, bosch, mobil 1 and belive it or not the wal mart brand oil filter made by champion filters. Fram is junk. WE had problems with them in the dodge dealer on the diesel trucks and got so bad they wouldnt warrenty problems with fram filters. Paper came apart and cloged things. I personaly am using the longer Purolator gold PL 14610, the Bosch is 3323 and mobil 1 is m1-110. I figure the tad longer one does 2 things for me. More filter area for the same price and also may cool a little bit with longer case.
  14. Up front off the plug in fairing I used a double outlet to power cell phone and GPS. Both use the normal round big type plug. But hey yours is a good idea. Where mine is is the wife had the tablet and her phone the tablet could be in the trunk charging while she is playing on phone. She likes to take pics on the phone as we are riding. Sometimes she dont even know what she took a pic of. lol We have tried this charge as you go before, but the current cord for phone is round and to big to close trunk over.
  15. Gattlinburg and Pegion Forge has lots more cars. Be carful there. Here is a link to some good roads on the south side of the area. On the lift of page is more links to good roads. If going on the Dragon I suggest a weekday like Tue-Thur. Less cars and yo-yos thinking its a racetrack. Here is a link to a friends web site. They do video of some trips they do. Look on this page for "Blue Ridge Mountian" its at the top. On thier home page they have maps and GPS cordinates also. You can look here on this site also in the favorite roads and destinations section. So many it will make your head hurt.
  16. VIN # is whats going to count. Maybe they are looking at manufacture number for the trike kit. I would think the main bike VIN# is what you go off. Now if they are taxing you on an 03.... to bad for them.
  17. I'll be @#$ I didnt even know there was actually a place provided to put an aux power socket. I made a harness up and have it mounted on right side under hand rail so wife can get to it and connect phone etc.
  18. I'm with you Brian on the different types of HD muffs. If going that route definatly check out threads for "correct" PN. My first pair were straight cuts of a non-cat bike. But if you looked in them the baffeling looked different. The slash cuts I have now were off a 2012, so they are a non-cat as the cat on those is up stream of muffs. When you look in these they look more symetrical to eachother.
  19. Check intercom volume. On my scoot the lower the IC volume the less static/eng buzz. As long as something is playing its not real noticable, but during song change or the like the static can drive ya nutz.
  20. When I was in the service I had to get qualified on small arms handgun. Was a silly deal anyways as a lot of govt stuff is. The safe in the office had "secret" and "top secret" documents in it. So if the Ruskies were invading and you were on shift and had to defend it, suposedly you were to use this gun in the safe. So the first weapon they gave me at the range the round part that hold the bullets (I'm having a crs moment right now) rattled so bad in the rest of the frame I told the instructor "you fire it first, and if your hand is still there I may" I looked like something from Korean war. Now I know why Hawkeye wouldnt shoot one. LOL Glad to hear it went well Mike. Nice shooten. Gun control is when you hit what your aiming at.
  21. I also didnt read article (yet). But when they start singling out bikes as oposed to the tuner cars with the bazoka cans and stereos loud enough you hear them drive by the house before the car........ well I think they are profiling unjustly.
  22. To me the trim thats on my gas tank ridge looks like what we use to call door welting I think. I know my 900 Kawasaki I used the "black chrome" door knock trim stuff.
  23. If mine does it, I havent noticed. Incase it does the Road King pipes and earbuds should take care of it. BTW I understand Yamaha fixed it on the 2014 models.
  24. They let me mix mine with some apple juice. I asked if I could use JD. They said no only "clear" liquids. So I suggested Tequelia. A galon of the junk of whatever they gave me at the VA is what I had to drink. A few weeks later I talk to a buddy from the Seattle area and he said the VA there gave him something it was like 3-4 glasses worth and was done in 6 hr or so. Good luck.
  25. THe Road Kings are a very popular choice nad are economical to buy. If you get a pair and decide you dont like they are pretty easy to sell again and not loose anything on them. I have bought 2 pair a straight and slash cut which I prefer. Neither pair did I pay more than $30 for. I found them somewhat local and went and picked them up so I had a tank of gas involved. Mine are mounted using a "P" clamp around the rear saddlebag bar.
