  1. Starting to sound like a WHINY second gen clutch around here:no-no-no:
  2. For those who are not on facebook... stay that way, very bad things over there.
  3. Robin and I have the same concerns, so we purchased an aluminum trailer and will be trailering the trike to a location we want to ride. We love riding but the body, not so much anymore. we can ride a few hours than back to the hotel to kick back and rest or drive the truck when not up to riding. Robin like it because she has room for more stuff.
  4. Didn't take any pictures, someone else will have to post. If you got them, share them.
  5. Pic's are on facebook. Don't know way no one posting here.
  6. You can order it with heal/toe shifter or add later.
  7. Yep,another one done. Had a great time with great friends. Looking forward to next year. Hope everyone made it home safe.
  8. We have NEVER setup on Wednesday before, always Thursday morning. with the exception of the international. The other half of the crew will be there today.
  9. Can't see those little bitty wheels going down the thruway at 70mph:yikes:
  10. Right, now I remember, #1 is the left rear cyl.
  11. When you say cylinders 3&4 I'm assuming you are referring to the cyl's on the left side of the bike? Keep in mind all 4 cyl's and all four carb's are separate from each other, so the only thing that can effect 2 cyl's at the same time has to be something that is common two both cyl's, that can only be the intake boots or a common vacuum line.
  12. No vacuum= broken piston rings, valve stuck open, blown head gasket, cracked head, hole in piston, bad seal between intake manifold and heads bad seal between carbs and intake manifold, broken vacuum lines or just not connected and probably a couple of things I have forgotten over the years. Now with that said, go back to before you pull carbs and set your valve clearance. did the bike run ok? If so then you know the problem has something to do with the reinstall of everything you removed. I still say the carbs on that side of the motor were not fully seated in the intake boots. the jets can be plugged, the carbs can be way out of sinc and you will still have vacuum. the problem is an air leak.
  13. Check your carb to intake boots I can almost guarantee one side is no longer seated. they may have been seated just enough to run ok just after you installed the carb's but while sitting they slipped out of the intake boots. It happened to me. What happens is if the carbs are not pushed all the why into the boots, when you tighten the clamps you are actually drawing down on the boot below the carb flange this pushes the carb's up and out of the boot.
  14. "Real McCoy" a oiler used on steam engines invented bay an "Africa American" back in the 1800's. There were several different types but McCoy's were the most reliable.
  15. Did you try adjusting the balancing screw between the left and right banks? If so did it do anything?
  16. 9000 miles and only 6 pic's. Your holding out on us Leo, your going to have to do better then that.
  17. That's like waving the ice cream bowl in front of your face and not letting you eat any!
  18. Did you catch the part about the heat?
  19. Back when the gov. made it mandatory to add ethanol to all gas, I was working for a John deer dealer. The first spring after the change we had 4 times the number of tractors, mower and small handheld machines come into the shop that would not run or ran poorly. The tech's were pulling carbs to find them all gummed up. We made a lot of money over the next few years in just cleaning carb's. One of the tech's decided to try something else other then pulling carb's...Sea foam. After that every morning you would find a dozen or more mowers and tractors sitting out back all running and smoking with a good dose of seafoam in them. Worked almost every time. Made a lot of money just sitting around watching them smoke.

Waiting for parts right now. About half the price as Yamaha part's, for what I'm getting.
  21. I look at the new member welcome page and see hundreds of new people being welcomed by Freebird but see very little activity from our new friends. We old timers would like to get to know you and maybe meet up with you at one of our rally's or a meet and eat. Don't be shy, we are a very friendly bunch of misfits who like to ride and eat, or is it eat and ride? anyhow I am personally inviting every one of you to join us at the Northeastern western NY rally august 17-20th. Just go to the calendar at the top of the page and sign up. For info about the rally check it out on the events forum. Hope to see a bunch of new face's there this year. The old ones are getting boring to look at. If you can't make the NY rally Maybe you can make one of the other events. ps. The NY rally has a live band. Oh and Big Tom will be there.
