  1. Hello Heather: I am not on this forum as much as I used to be. I watch the FB page the most. Just saw this. Glad you survived. My experience with Towing companies is not good. They quickly rack up a large bill that they expect insurance will cover. We all know that is not the case. I hope someone was able to help recover Big Red for you? Heal well. Keep us posted.
  2. Hello Everyone: Mild weather here in W. Nebraska. One snow so far. Testing new heated gear.
  3. Hello Everyone: Good looking bike Darren. I agree. I too have purchased many of the same items from our wonderful vendors!!!!
  4. Hello Everyone: I have been conversing with a new owner of a 2006 RSTD that lives in Salt Lake. Suggested he check out VR.org. Are there many RSV and or RSTD owners in SLC or nearby to ride with or get together foe maintenance?
  5. For what it is worth. I discovered the electrical plugs on the RSV and RSTD are shaped different. The pump is the same.
  6. Hello everyone: Lots of good advice here. I myself have not had any fuel pump issues but one of my friends with a 2005 VStar 1100 did. I discovered the same replacement point for our RSTD and Ventures also fit the 1100. I discovered the RSV does have a different shaped electrical plug. 1100's and RSTD are the same style plug. I recently replaced points in each of the three models. 1100, RSTD and RSV. With the pump on my bench and the soldering iron hot it took me 8 minutes each to replace the points. To test the 1100 pump, I swapped it with my RSTD pump. Kept the RSTD pump in my saddle bag. Just back from a 2500 mile trip. No issues. Another member purchased a new pump from Dennis Kirk. I rebuilt his failed pump. DO NOT throw your old pumps away.
  7. Prayers for Ed and his family. Sorry this happened to one of our own. Keep us posted if we can help.
  8. Hello Everyone:I hope all is well? I occasionally log on to the site, but not nearly as often as I did before my home PC crashed. Not as much fun on my IPhone. I do hang out on the VR Facebook page instead. All is well with Lee and I. I consider this site my extended family. It is good to see new members signing up. I recommend it to every owner I meet. Patrolman46 and I missed traveling to the SE Texas MD this year. I was in Loveland CO yesterday in the cage. I called up Zfrebird4 and checked on him. He has owned Squidley's 86 RSV for several years now. Jack hopes to be riding again soon. We are hoping to take a bike trip and meet Aussie FB friends in Minneapolis in early August. We also hope to meet TDbiker as well as others while we are in MN. We are looking forward to RogerII's MD in Stering CO on May 7th. Anything new with you?
  9. Hello Everyone: Greetings from W. Nebraska. Year in review. We made Kregerdoodle's MD in Texas. For the second time we had to take the pickup We held our own MD in Sterling CO for a second time. Made more new friends. Met up with Canadian friends just prior to Sturgis. Highlight of Sturgis was meeting up with BJ66, Cowpuc Tippy and several others from this site!!! Took an overnight trip to Valentine NE with 3 other couples last fall. We cherish the friends we have made on this site. Looking forward to another riding season in 2016.
  10. I agree. I have quit working so hard. Early 50's now. I enjoy everyday as it might be my last. Our motorcycle and friends including all of you are a highlight to our lives. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Well said Don:We to are truly blessed. I have made so many friends because of this site!!!!
  12. Thanks to this site so many friends have been made. Recently RogerII from Sterling CO, Patrolman46 from Torrington WY and myself from Scottsbluff NE along with our wonderful wives all met in Bridgeport NE. Headed for Valentine NE. We met another couple from Aurora NE in Thedford. Ended an easy 250 mile day in Valentine, NE. Great ride. Nice roads, beautiful Sandhills and terrific friends. Nice 500 mile weekend for all of us. Kind of thinking about Midwest meet and great for next season. Anyone else interested?
  13. FYI. One of our member vendors sells replacement bolts that have large plastic knobs on the end of the bolts that make for easier removal in the future. Well worth the cost!! No tools required with the new bolts. click on classified tab click on member vendors click on Rick Butler look for Butler built saddlebag bolts. $25. Rick is a great guy. He has reworked modified several members stock seats.
  14. We had issues at work delaying our departure. Plans changed some. Using Patrolman46 rig to haul or bike to Piedmont tomorrow. May not make the Yamaha shop meet but looking forward to the meet in Newell tomorrow evening.
  15. Before I educated myself on tires I allowed my dealer to replace my tires. They chose 404's. Only lasted one season and 8000 miles. I just replaced my 3 year old Dunlop E3's that had 14k on them and could have went another 4k. I switched to Michelin Commander II's and went with a 130 width tire on the front. Many owners have high remarks for the 130 width helping with slow speed riding. Hearing of 18-22k miles on Michelins. I am impressed so far. Good luck with your tires
  16. We are riding up on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
  17. Hello Everyone: We live in Scottsbluff. Please look us up. Another member RKWILL22 stayed with us last night. We always enjoy meeting other members.
  18. I scored an inexpensive magnetic take bag from eBay. I use it for more things than I imagined. It covers up my gas cap. Protects my tank, I use it for a pillow at times. I use it to shade my seats when I get off. I keep gas receipts and several other inexpensive items in it.
  19. Can you trailer your bike? Best of both world's. Keep us posted.
