  1. Hello Everyone: Just wanted to thank everyone who commented on Flanders handlebar upgrade. It convinced me to order the bars. I installed the bars on Saturday and rode 300 pain free miles on Sunday. No more burning neck pain!!!! I will try to get around to getting pictures posted. I came up with a very good easy cheap way to save the bar weights. Any questions are welcome. I am glad to provide advise just like all you have done. Thanks......
  2. Greetings from Nebraska: Our neighbor owns a 1999 Royal Star. He kept it but started riding a 98 Harley Ultra. In the past two years the Harley has needed a new engine and Tranny and has been in the shop more than on the road. Rode with him on a three hundred mile ride today, the Harley only make it about 100 miles before more tranny trouble arose. He had to call for a truck and trailer. I lover my 2005 RSTD more everytime I ride it!!!!! Good thing he kept his Yamaha, looks like he is going to need it to finish out the riding season. Ride safe everyone...
  3. Hello: Greetings from Nebraska. Thanks to unmustang as well as everyone else that added to this post. I installed the new Flanders bars on my 2005 RSTD yesterday. I followed the directions very closely however I chose to remove the tank and do some additional rerouting of wiring to satisfy me. I really wanted to save the original bar weights and came up with another twist to do so. I hopefully will be able to add another post a little later with pictures. Otherwise send me a PM and I will explain. Incidently we rode 300 miles today with no neck pain!!!!!!!!! I feel the new bars make the front end feel lighter, making the bike easier to handle in very low speed turns etc. Thanks again everyone.....

  5. Hello: I was also experiencing burning between my shoulder blades after about 50 miles. I too had a difficult time getting the correct bars for my 2005 RSTD. Just got back from a 300 mile run today. No more neck pain as in the past. I came up with a great way to salvage the existing bar weights. Thanks for your input, it helped me decide what to do to my bike. Thanks again....
  6. Hello: Greetings from Nebraska. Glad to hear you are okay. 25 years ago when I was in my twenties, I was one of 10 riders picked up in separate accidents on a slick piece of Intersate I-25 in Colorado all in the same weekend. After an absence of 25 years I am back in the saddle again on a 2005 RSTD. I have never forgotten my accident. Just learned today about an aquintance that went down on rain slick pavement last weekend. Hope you get repaired and ridig again soon. Take care....
  7. Hello: I am looking for a 19.5 " windshield for my 2005 RSTD does anyone have one that might want to trade for my nearly new 17" shield?
  8. Hello: Please check your messages.Thanks....
  9. Hello: I am going through the same pains. The shield that came on my 2005 RSTD was too tall for me 23.5 inches. I did not like looking through it, and could not look over it unless I strained. I am 5'7" tall. My dealer measured me and thought a 17" shield would be the best fit. When it arrived they traded me straight accross and installed it for me. I now love looking over the new shield, but of course now I get more wind and must ride with my Nolan Helmet shield down over 35 mph. Not sure how it performs in the rain? I have a friend that also has a 2005 RSTD his shield appears to be 19.5 inches tall. I have not had time to try it. I am looking for a 19.5 inch windshield? Hope that helps?...
  10. Hello: I too just finished installed a similar trunk. (No Lights). It might be a bit too soon to judge. At least now I have a nice spot to carry an extra helmet when I ride alone and never know when a rider will climb on? My wife indicates it is no more comfortable or any less comfortable than the stock backrest. (I guess that is okay?) I noticed my passenger appears to set back a bit further now. I can now see her in the mirror and can tell if she fell off or not. I will know more when I try to pack for the Sturgis ride.
  11. Hello Rick: I live in Nebraska about 3-4 hours south of the SD Hills. We have been making annual run to the hills the week before the rally each year for the past 4 or 5 years. Leaving again for this annual ride on Aug. 2nd. I have riden some of the same routes that you mention. But intend to print off your info and take it with us. Thanks for the info. If anyone is needing info or would be in the Hills the week of Aug. 2nd besure to let me know....Mark
  12. Hello Fellow RSTD riders. I mounted a Wompus Rack and aftermarket trunk to my 05 RSTD last night. Installation was quite simple. I have not had time to ride yet and need my wife to pass judgement on the comfortability. I will let you know what my thoughts are in a day or so. Ride safe!!!
  13. Not quite in Wyoming but almost. We stay in Custer SD at the Cheif Motel. I highly reccommend this family owned motel. We ride out of Custer somewhere everyday and then return to Custer each night. Great fun with a few friends.
  14. We live only 45 miles West of Bridgeport. We take that same Alliance, Chadron 385 route to the hills. Leaving August 2nd for the week. Hope to meet you....
  15. Hello Everyone: I have made so many on line friends from this site in a very short time. If you ever find your way passing through Western Nebraska perhaps on the way to other destinations such as Colorado mountains, Yellowstone in Wyoming or the Black Hills of SD. Besure to let us know you are coming. I would love to meet some of my fellow owners and riders. We are planning our annual trip to the Black Hills of SD the week before Sturgis. I know the area fairly well. Take care....
  16. Hello Everyone: I am looking to add a drivers backrest to my 2005 RSTD. Does anyone have one that they would like to sell? I thought I would ask first before buying a new one. Thanks in advance......
  17. Hello: I really only need the plexiglas, but I would also be interested in the hardware as well if someone had it. Thanks..
  18. Hello: I am looking for a windshield for a 2005 RSTD. Preferably a 16" height would be best. But I would consider a stock windshield. Does anyone have one or know of one? Thanks

  20. Hello: Thanks for this wonderful post. It got me thinking I should consider the fix for my 2005 RSTD. Additonal info from Globewalker and a phone call from bknsaddle convinced me! I ordered the bars on line from Flanders today! I will let you know if it solves my tension in my back and neck. Thanks a bunch friends!!!!!

  22. Recently discovered this site. So helpful! I just a few days with the help of other members I was able to locate a rack as to mount a trunk on my 2005 RSTD. As well as a luggage rack for my OEM backrest. I obtained helpful info on back strain and the "Flanders" Handle bars. The windshield on my used bike was evidently a tall wide one 22 inches or more, I did not like it, so the dealer installed a much shorter one, now too short. Does anyone perhaps have a OEM windshield? or a custom windshield in the 16-17" range? Thanks....
  23. I do not have any etrack as of yet. I would prefer to not install it on the origianl floor. I did think about installing etrack on another piece of 4X8 3/4 plywood installed accross the trailer in the front. With two wheel chocks for two different bikes? And then install etrack along the walls to allow tiedown to pull the bike(s) forward. If I want the trailer for other uses then I could simply remove the second piece of plywood to fold it up against the front of the trailer so that I would have a smooth floor at other times. Any thoughts.
  24. Hello: I owned the above tandem before I purchased my RSTD. I would like to equip the trailer to haul bikes. Looks like etrack is the way to go. Any suggestions on the etrack/wheel chocks and placement of the track? Thanks.....
