  1. Unfortunately, the VMax engine will not work in the second gen frame. The exhaust ports are straight on the VMax and not angled like on the second gen; therefore, the exhaust would hit the frame. However, it has been done with some clever customization! Just put the cams and valve springs from the max into the second gen head and raise the rev limiter with a dyna3000 and that'll give the second gen a nice boost!
  2. Payment sent! Thanks for getting this together! Keep the shiny side up, Bill "Stu" Stuard
  3. I agree the photo looks like they would bring the bars back a little. I believe they are the stock risers for a Yamaha Royal Star Venture. What kind of fairing are you interested in putting on your Royal? I had a 2000 Royal Star Tour Classic and put a Radio Caddy Fairing on it using the stock risers and everything fit fine. Good luck with your Royal and BTW it's a nice looking ride! I wish I would have kept mine.
  4. Hey Darrin, The risers should work no problem. Also, the little chrome bolt hole covers pop out with a screw driver. Be careful though if you want to save them because they are plastic. I would suggest a small jewelers screw driver.
  5. Hey Jack, Sounds great! What's your Paypal address and I'll get the funds sent. Thanks, Stu
  6. Hey Gary, I think it looks great! I like the way you painted the side bags. Most of the modern sport tourers I have seen have the same black on the back half paint scheme. I also agree that the stock top trunk looks huge! It's nice to have the room to carry stuff but I think it takes away from the looks of the bike. I bought a soft luggage bag that I mount on the rack when I don't need the room of the stock trunk. When it's time to paint my 1st gen. I'll keep your "tricks" in mind! Thanks for sharing! Stu
  7. Count me in for one please!! I'm sending payment via Paypal. Thanks, Stu
  8. The 1996 through 2001 Royal Stars (non-Venture) were rated 74 HP at the crank (probably lower to mid 60's at the rear wheels). The problem was small carbs (28 mm) and airbox and mild cams. When Yamaha re-introduced the Venture in 1999 the power was uprated to 98 HP (crank) primarily by upgrading the carbs to 32 mm and using a larger volume airbox. They also installed a revised cam profile (intake or exhaust I don't remember). There are folks out there making these upgrades to their Royals to get Venture like power. But, by far the most bang for the buck is installing a V-Max rear end on the Royal Star. The gear ratio in the V-Max rear differential keeps the engine in the power band. These motors like to rev! You can also put the V-Max gears in the Royal Star differential. http://rmsportmax.com/gateway.html will also perform the gear swap and exchange for your existing rear end. Anyway, there are options out there to more grunt from your Royal!
