  1. I've run 404's on my 650 vstar for 6 years. Soft tire, medium wear. Very good on wet and dry roads. By medium I mean 8 thousand on rear and about 16 thousand on front. I've changed my rear tire 3 times and front once with 25,000 mi. on the bike. My 2007 RSV has 6,3220 mi. on it and it came with 404's as origional tires. Front tire is good 5/32", the rear is 3/16". Both measurments taken center of tread. Wish I'd have measured the depth when I got the bike as they will be different for each tire. Might need to check tire pressure more often as normally, the rear tires wear out faster? Or is this normal? As this is a heavier bike, Do the front and back wear out about the same time? Perhaps we could document tire wear. If we had a Dunlop 404 thread say under "tires" we could measure tire depth and mileage for each tire (front and back) and average tire pressure when we changed them out. The same for Avons and EIII's etc.... although weight of rider, trailer, load etc would have an enourmous impact on the results... never mind... Any way I like them.
  2. It'd get here faster if we went through MEXICO!
  3. Thanks guys, I'll probably load them tomorrow as my wife is going to be recuperating from surgery for a deviated septum...Got hit in the nose with a baseball when she was a little girl. She's been getting sinus infections regularly ever since and they are getting worse. So when they did an MRI the dr ask her what the Heck happened to your nose? Should be back home with her by 3 as it's outpatient surgery. Got to get this thing running properly so she'll have something to do as "all work" is out for two weeks! Biggest problem is it's a +5 year old computer with two 256 SDRAM . Can only upgrade to two 512 SDRAM. The way these people are designing web pages nowadays is " the skys the limit" and if you don't have a fast computer and a couple gigs of RAM, tough! So i figured I'd clean the old girl up a bit first. Wanted to buy a new computer with at least 3 gig ram... but the wife isn't on board with that. (unless of course something HAPPENS to this one) I loaded and used the CCleaner... about an hour ago. I let it select all and take everything out. Will let you know if i can notice any difference... Thanks again for all your help.
  4. Thank you, Silvert You the Man! Maybe my computer will survive the night MAYBE...
  5. Help! I'm about ready to punch my monitor......... Every time I download something from www.freedownloads.com it ends up not being free............ "EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY SO!" I've tried and removed the following supposed freeware: Regcure, Pcfix and Tuneup360. Oh yeah, they do their scans but you have to pay for the activation key! This is not as they were advertised in the Freeware section. Anyone know where I can get some FREEWARE to fix windows registry problems? I need a beer!

  12. I'd ship them to Gitmo and place them very close to the prisoners for 6-8 weeks. Hey for a little over $100 that i have invested in the carbtune and pouch, it'd be worth it for the chance to send some of them to Allah... My carbtune was ordered dec 22,2010 and I'm still waiting... received same email tom got...
  13. Speaking of tea... How do you make it when your out on your bike. I always carry water tea bags abd Sweet & Low. Anyone use 12 volt cigarett lighter/ accessorie jack powered electric cups? is it hot enough? I use to have this black handeled heater, 6"long that plugged into aforementioned jacks. It had an aluminium tube that made 2 complete circles and then went back into the handle and would make the water extremely hot. wonder if the Venture jack would be able to handle one?
  14. thanks, After i posted i went back and did a quick search on Hopkins 48915 and found out Squidely uses them regularly with no problem. Would have had it on today but i had to fix the furnace down in the garage.
  15. anyone use the: Hopkins 48915 Tail Light Converter (60") insead of the Hopkins 48925 HD Tail Light Converter (74") Called rep said they were exactly the same except for the double wall insulation and an extra foot of wire on the 48925. They both have diodes. Would have bought the 48925 but Walmart didnt carry them.
  16. " Oh Oh!! This is turning into a "How many Ventureriders does it take to screw in a lightbulb" thread... " Couple of questions first: While sitting On my bike? Where's the bulb? How many rooms do you have to go thru to get to the bulb? Are your doors at least 36" wide??? My bikes pretty big... Too many questions.........
  17. At one point in my life I quit watching professional baseball and football. Use to love to watch the Baltimore Orioles play. And then the Baltimore Colts packed up in the dead of the night and left Baltimore... That fixed me for 10 years or so.

  19. Disconnect your washing machines Hot water hose from the faucett and connect the garden hose to it... I didn't have had a problem getting it out of my gas hot water tank. You could however end up getting calcium in the hose if you have hard water...
  20. They make heat tape kit especially for Ice Dams. It is installed in a zigzag pattern parallel to the outer edge on the roof with aluminum clips If you can vent your attic more (beside area that is damming) the problem will go away. But to fix it now: get a heavy pair of gloves long water hose connect it to bottom of hot water heater get a ladder unless your lucky enough to have a low sitting rancher every 15 feet or so melt the ice down to the shingles about 3 -4 " wide and about 4' long perpendicular to the outer lower edge of house. Alternate fix: take a hatchet and very carefully chop a channel. Regardless how you do it you have to provide a path for the water so it cannot back up. An ice dam traps water starting at the gutter and extends quite a few feet back towards the peak of the roof. As the snow/ice melts it gets trapped between the outer ice and the gutters, when it hits the top edge of the 3" wide roof felt.....It leaks! I use to cut channels on my rancher with the hot water method a couple times a year. Oh, on more thing I almost forgot. Last time I was at Lowes to buy shingles the manager looked at me kind of funny when I ask for the roof felt. He said it was uNnecessary... Well in my humble it is very necessary as these ice dams will testify. I'd never shingle a roof without felting it first.
  21. Yammer Dan, Whens the Mud Hens play next?

Don't know wether I just have a weird imagination, and, was seeing things, but I could have sweared no# 34 Mendenthal was doing something to No#7 Rothelsberger... after they realized they had won the game...... at about the 60 seconds left mark... Or, Was it just me?
